hi,did you try safe mode .hitting f8 on bootup .
or if no go to same mode try the safe mode command prompt and type this in
"chkdsk /r" with out the "
if thats a no go ,do you have w2kpro disk you could boot to and use the recovery option and type in the chkdsk /r

I had a similar problem with my G61. I even had taken it to a "professional" As it ended up that it was that my computer for what ever reason needed to have the specific power cord for this model. Only an HP power cord worked. It maybe because of the the smart pin that is on the newer HP model power cords. None of the universals we tried worked. For some reason this computer will only respond to the original factory cord. If that doesn't do the trick it really may be the motherboard. I am glad that I didn't take the advice of the so called professional though. I saved myself alot of money and now am currently still using the once broken computer. Good luck

commonly called the P4 plug ,im no expert ,but i alter things and i would cut off the 4 wire plug for the hdd or cdrom drive and connect the square P4 plug to and try it,the volrage is the same .keep in mine that i never tried it ,but earlier p4 plugs were the same shape of the cdrom plug ,and we just used any one of the available plugs on the cpu

it could be a bad video card or monitor, but with out more info from you as to what happens when you turn it on ,its hard to say what it might be

i never recommend those driver programs.and i think that Asus site is the best and only place to get the drivers from .
on there site the oldest drovers are winxp 2006,and vista 2007

i guess if everything else works ok ,you could disable the onboard sound and go out check at local computer store to see if they have a pci sound card for it ,that is compatible with win7

you motherboard is not compatible with win7 ,if it were Asus would have win7 drivers for it ,you need to go back to Vista or winxp if that is what you had installed on it before win7

Darn, I wish people would stop doing that as it makes it harder to solve the question(s) which are being asked.

Perhaps you should get a direct link to the exe file from another computer instead of a link to the download website so that internet explorer won't need to phrase any javascript.
For example: http://example.com/downloads/get/game.exe instead of the download page in the browser address bar.

About 4 months ago I sold a 1.8GHz (single P4) with keyboard & mouse, screen, 2 GB Ram (then again it was ddr2) and a dvd rom, and 160GB hard drive and I had several people willing to do about $200, cash.

Plus with the lot I got, the worst that can happen is that I do not make as much as I hope.

sure ,a deleted file is a deleted file .when you delete files from the recycle bin ,they are further deleted the next time the computer is shutdown and rebooted
