To reboot (or restart) your PC, do just as you would to shut it down, except select restart rather than shut down. If your computer has frozen (locked up) and you cannot get it to do anything, hold the power button in for a count of 5. That will shut it down and you can power it back up normally.

f8 during bootup, usually to get to safe mode ,but don't be surprised when it acts just like regular mode ,if there is no admin acct to get into

So, basically it means the netboot isn't reading the disk where windows is install,anymore!
it is said that the problem maybe in the bios ,so if you can boot to the bios/setup on bootup and reset it to defaults setting ,like it says in the other link ,it could be set to boot from network card ,or it maybe that you have a bad harddrive in the netbook give it a try and post back

check device manager and make sure that network device is install correctly ,sp1 sounds like you will have to install sp3 also when you get connected .

have you activated your new install of windows yet ,has to be done before you can run windows updates .

lets start with why did you changed yours from admin in the first place ,as a computer have more than 1 admin acct. this is likely where the problem stems from ,
try rebooting computer ,hold down the f8 key and go to safe mode and enter the admin acct that should be there if windows was loaded correctly . [you should see a admin acct + your acct and your sons when in safe mode ]in the real admin acct try making the changes ,good luck

take it out ,and put in different cd/dvd rom ,see what happens

remove ram and try booting ,most that I've seen do what yours is doing is either motherboard or processor

psu can give enough power to boot ,but not all the way to windows seen it dozens of times

hi, any number of reasons ,HEAT being one ,did you open computer ans check for dust and dirt in all fans
and also make sure all fans are working ,make sure if it has a video card install that its fan is working and clean .
if not dirty then some piece of hardware could be failing or over heating

hi if you buy new computer it should have Sata harddrive's and they don't use master slave settings ,and yes you can use multiple hdd for the linux os, as for windows on one drive that works [that i have done with xp and win2000] ,remember to install oldest OS first ,to avoid problem with new /old files/drivers .
and i don't do this myself but i think you would use a Linux boot loader to chose between OS'S.
search linux for for details on boot loader, Grub i think its called

i use ccleaner and only ccleaner from time to time ,also believe your 20-30 % increase is high,what do you do to measure it before and after !
did you ever try not doing the registry shit and just the defrag and other stuff you do and see what the increase was !
my limited understanding of computers leads me to say, that windows doesn't scan registry and slow at all those dead registry entries ,only maybe if the associated program was in startup and incorrectly deleted would this happen ,but i may be wrong in thinking that way

i would start by changing the drive ,if that makes no difference ,try a power supply

make sure motherboard has a good clean battery connection before placing in new battery

in bios make sure to save settings and exit ,let computer run for a bit before unplugging

first make sure dvd drive shows in device manage,if it there try removing it and reboot to reinstall drivers for the dvd drive .
as for the password ,someone had to have put a bios/setup password since you bought the laptop ,if you cant remember it ,you may need to take laptop apart and remove bios battery to rid the need for the password
