maybe you do have a mboard problem
It won't let me click on the repair icon
try going to control panel /network and internet connection /then network connections and see if you can click on repair there
Yes same port and same cable
I'm not sure if this will help but the port on the back of my pc has no lights showing.
that usually means that the adapter is not functioning but you say you can connect on ubuntu, are the lights on when using ubuntu
have you tried this ,
you have the two monitor icon in the lower right hand task bar, then you can right click on this icon and try the Repair option
so this is duel boot so its the same network plug correct ,so it has to be in my opinion and little knowledge its a problem in the network setup of windows xp,what i'm not sure !yet
caperjack - that removes the big calendar button, but it doesn't remove calendar from the "Favorite Folders" list.
sorry i don't have them in my favorite folders just my inbox and sent items
check the device manager in xp and make sure that the network device is
install or not disabled
With normal folders, you can right click them and say "Remove from favorite folders, as per here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011176721033.aspx
However, Calendar and Contacts don't have that option. How would one remove them?
Thanks,
David

Ok, so I tried the programs you suggested but hit a snag on the POP server. Any ideas how I can identify the correct server?
I got a response from the Office Live help but they weren't any help they suggested I forward the emails I want one by one, but I have several thousand.

Window Vista is there on my laptop right from the start. Laptop can dual-boot and windows 7 is working fine but I cannot uninstall or format the window partition for vista or rather u called it c drive for most people.
I just want my laptop to run only Windows 7 only. The problem is that I cannot format a window partition and I only have the recovery discs and not the windows vista DVD. Many sources said that Vista Installation DVD is needed to uninstall vista.Since I dun have the installation DVD, is there any other ways I can format a windows partition and its backup data?
just go to the disk management section of win7 and you should be able to format partition with vista on it .

I was having this same problem. Not being an expert I gave some good old "give it a try" ideas.
I unplugged my dvd/cd player and got back to the regular screen of windows, everything else works good. I am going to take this as it needs to be replaced. If anyone has suggestions as to what to buy, I would appreciate it. Mine is a HP pavilion a705w.
Thank you!
Hopes this helps someone.
hi dvd burners are really cheap now so you could replace it with one,not sure that one of the basic models is much better than the other, but i have really good use out of my 5yr old LG model ,they see here in Canada for about 30-35 dollars
do they have the motherboard manual,it would say what card it could take ,emachine site doesn't give any specs or manual download
i will assume because they gave it to you fix ,you are trying right type of card ,like pci-e or agp,you could also try a regular old 8 or 16 meg pci card just to troubleshoot
I would also check to make sure that one of your "windows" keys is not stuck. it is the key with the windows logo on it.
good one,was what i was going to suggest after reading first post, because using it with r and f will open both run and search
"saying something about memory dump I believe"
the most important part of troubleshooting you problem was all the numbers and error message on the bsod ,not the memory dump.
you harddrive may have died if the bios no longer sees it ,
the keyboard is not recognised either in the ps/2 port or the USB!
HELP ASAP!
hi, first you need to figure out if its the keyboard or the computer , try the keyboard in another computer to see if it works in it !
hi pretty sure you would get better answers from a gaming forum than a windows help forum
thx, I just sent them a message
and i thought my link was better . lol
-Go to Repair in the options Windows menu
.
hi, my link will actually tell you what commands to type in ,ty
What kind of processor do you have? You have to match up the windows bit set to that of your processor.
not to butt in but !
from first post .
quote= Phenom X4 9100e 1.8 GHz
Asus M4N82 Deluxe Motherboard how to find compatible parts of it...
www.google.com
or be more specific as to what parts you are referring to !
It could be a problem with your motherboard. It might have shorted out like mine did a year ago or it could just be faulty and old.
First make sure that you aren't being hijacked by anything.
You should then replace the motherboard to see if your computer runs ok with a new one. If that doesn't work then get some different ram and see if your computer runs like it should.
If that doesn't work, see if you can reformat the system because something may have gone wrong during the first install.
If you dont think that the problem lies where i think it is, just be more specific with the specs and how long this has been happening.
i think trying the windows reinstall would come before buying a new motherboard
that poster was actually in some good broken engilsh asking for help with his slow computer ,lol
are the emails saved on the web sit or on your computer ,what email program are you using
did a little looking since i posted this and you are just using a hotmail acct correct !
this might help ,

@caperjack:
Thanks for the fast reply.
The shop did not give me any box when I bought it, so I think it would be ok.
no ,but seagates expects it to be in one if you have to send it back
Won't I get blamed by the shop for not using antistatic protection to carry these drives?
they sure might ,if want to be nasty and try and blame the problem on you i guess, so maybe go to the shop first and get a bag from them
By the way, what with the dislike towards big harddrives?
just see to many go bad ,I thing better not bigger is the way they should be going ,cant imagine why i would need a 500 gig drive ,i have a 160g ,giving me problem right now ,liked my 80gig better
hi, i like seagate ,I just don't like big harddrives .
as for antistatic bag ,i have safely use nothing for years,or just a plastic freezer bag.
also most drives are not warranted by shop but have to be sent back to segate, and they only accept them in static bag and well padded cardboard box
I have the memory I just dont know how to copy all the emails so I can access them in the future without forwarding to a new email address
that poster was actually in some good broken engilsh asking for help with his slow computer ,lol
are the emails saved on the web sit or on your computer ,what email program are you using
I need more information when it comes to downloading appropriate drivers.
ok,lets go back abit,
1-did you format the computer yet
2-if so did you reinstall windows yet
3-if yes ,did you install the program i suggested
4-do you have the motherboard cd that came with the computer
please answer all ? to proceed
I will reformat my computer and my problem is I do not know how to install the drivers necessary for my hardware. How will I know what driver will I install? Please guide me. Thank you.
hi, start with the motherboard cd that you should have gottin when you bought your computer ,you reall should have checked device manger before you reloaded for names and model of the devices you were using ,that's assuming your computer was working before you formated , also if you have no cd ,get this program [ http://www.filehippo.com/download_sandra_lite/download/cf21dd500c085e40c7dfd94275a6e6eb/ ]and run it it will tell you what devices[and there model numbers ] you have and then you can go to manufacturers web sites for necessary drivers
no info on disabling polices , but as for drivers i would also drop them in the c:\windows \system folder ,and driver folder if one exist also look for c:\windows\ inf folder drop them there also
Thanks much worked like a charm.
your welcome
sound to me like the pci is is defective ,is it used or new
f12 on a lot of brand name computer will bring up the boot device selection
I've seen so many warnings about registry fix programs that I'm scared to use one.
I use ccleaner every time I sign off the Internet. Do I need a registry fixer? And can anyone guarantee one that works without causing harm? I know there are some advertised by Google but I've heard they only point out the errors and you have to pay to get them deleted. Something there sounds fishy to me.
i don't use registry fix program because of what you say ,the ones mention in this thread are just registry cleaner a little different me thinks
i use ccleaner registry cleaner for a few yrs now on my computer and one i work on belong to others with no ill effect, not sure if its actually helping
Hey there I have a Toshiba M305 s49052 and I want to change the OS to XP due to a virus. This virus is blocking my net access. The problem that I am having is that when I run the Windows xp OS disc, I get a stop error after the disc loads all the funny stuff and is heading to the section where I would format the hard drive. Any suggestions?
so you are posting in the Vista forum ,so i will assume you have vista and are changing back to xp, the laptop is fairly new so i will also assume your problem is SATA harddrive problem ,xp does not have sata drivers in it by default so you would need to create a new xp install disk slipstreaming the SATA drivers into [good program to use is nlite] you need to acquire the driver from Toshiba .also there might be a setting in the laptops BIOS to change a setting from sata mode to ata mode not sure where in there but give a look for it ,,it might be easier to either just to reinstall Vista or go to our spyware ,virues and other nasties section to get help removing the virus
Hello
I have been given 3 rar files of win 7 beta, I have a license number to register it. However I am unable to open it into a bootable form. Does anyone have any ideas how to open this please?
hi, a rar file is a compressed file format so you first have to unzip the files ,then burn the unziped files to dvd , look on the net for a program called winrar to unzip them
two questions ,what is this
4-even I successfully Place another Working IC.

I have a computer just given to me with XP-problem is the former owner did not give me a password. I cannot open up Windows.
Is there any way to recover/bypass the password or do I just have to reinstall XP.
MalcolmL
re-install window ,we try not to discuss cracking passwords on computers that don't belong to the original owner anymore, or call them and get the password
why this file, so often? what is so vulnerable about it?
not sure what to say ,vague question !

like trying new things ,tried eusing free,it found 652 errors ,didn't fix them , ran ccleaner it found 24 problems ,fixed them ,ran eusing free again it found 630 errores ,fixed them ,windows still working so far .
