It could be a backlight or inverter failure. Try unpluging the power cord, remove the battery and then hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds. Attach the power cord and try starting up.

Control S will do that trick too. Or you can always view the page in cache. But what Cross213 said is better.

Try removing the ram sticks one at a time ( if you have two ). Meaning using a ram stick at one time, the ram sticks could be causing the problem.

Try using another spare motherboard and test it out. I have a hunch that your motherboard might be damage. Just a hunch, did you make sure the motherboard was dry before you re-assembled your PC?

There will be Windows 8 on a tablet too:) Windows 8 is able to open all softwares from other previous windows version. So if you use windows 8, you can open a windows xp application on your laptop/ PC. Cool right

Don't use capital letters when you post. It is very rude. 1) Try starting up without the battery and use the power cord instead. 2) Try reseating the ram. If you have two ram chips, take out one and start up. 3) Test your power supply unit.

Use the power cord instead of the battery, have the battery removed and see whether your laptop works with only the power cord. Can you charge your battery. If no, battery is faulty and need to replaced soon. How old is your battery?
