I just checked your issue on my Vaio PCG-FX270. alot of the hotkey software is the same. Make sure Num Lock is not on, if it is, then you have to hold Fn to type the letters associated with the key shortcuts.

you shouldnt have to reinstall the OS when you replace the mobo, at last to my knowledge. Its definitely got something to do with the hard drive itself, most often times its the OS, or one of it's files, that's corrupted or missing.

Lose IE. Forget it. me and all of my friends (about 50 of them) all agree that Internet Explorer is THE most unsafe browser you can use. Go with Firefox :D http://getfirefox.com Secondly, the usage of CPU goes up depending on what the computer needs to display. Flash objects, for …

A crash in Explorer.exe is commonly caused by an error in the way your computer processes certain bits of information. In slower comptuers, this is normally caused by an overload of the processor; too much information trying to shove it's way through at once. Explorer.exe is the basis of WIndows …

Compaq normally includes a set of "restore disks" with their computers, this is the same thing as reinstalling a fresh copy without all the activation hassles. If you don't have a set of CD's, contact me on MSN Messenger or email me. Both services use the email address: <email snipped> …

Easiest solution I know of. Open Control Panel, go to Sounds and Audio Devices (in classic view) and hit the Sounds tab. Find Windows Startup entry, click it, hit Browse, find your desired file. Open it, hit Apply, then OK, and youre set!
