Perhaps this is best not posted in the VB.NET subforum ;) I'm moving it to the general .NET Framework forum so people have a chance to give an impartial opinion :)

Breadcrumbs can never hurt, but they're really only needed when sites get a few levels deep. Then, they're mandatory. As far as creating polls, you should be able to :) There's an option when you create a new thread.

Kudos for the post Ted. But I agree - prices are completely entirely different in every industry. They differ based on where the ad is placed on the site, and what the clickthru rate is like. There are just so many factors ... ;)

After never looking at ASM before, I took a one semester course in it. The final project was creating a Space Invaders game in DOS (complete with color and sound), and I think mine came out pretty decent. So, relatively speaking, that's what I was able to accomplish in two …

Hey guys. As you may or may not know, we're currently running a donation drive. With the increasing traffic coming to DaniWeb, we're currently investigating the idea of actually purchasing a second dedicated server, so that we can have one server for Apache/PHP and another server for MySQL. Currently, a …

What is the advantage of using an oudated version? Simply lack of recompiling the kernel, etc? Or is upgrading a linux OS just as big a process as the move from Windows 2000 to XP, for example?

Summary: Are there too many forums? Does DaniWeb try to cover too much? What would make the site feel more organized and intuitive? What do you think of the multi-color idea for each forum category, following the theme of having lots of mini-sites?

Go with a name. A couple of reasons. The first being that admin comes off as sorta corny (or at least I think so, others may disagree). A huge benefit is that you can keep the name as your online presence. For example, when starting a forum, we all know …

I would go with GoDaddy, definitely :) phpBB is also a good, premade php forum software. Just make sure that your host has php/MySQL support. Dreamweaver MX is a good option because of its learning curve - you can begin by using it as a WYSIWYG editor. When you feel …

I'm thinking that you're going to need something like DHTML programming to achieve what you want. As far as overlapping other flash objects on the page, I believe they are "layered" based …
