You could just tell him you hid a sub-executable encoded file on his computer (assuming he's not too computer literate) that monitors copyrighted material transfer on P2P and crossfire networks and alerts the RIAA of infractions. That might slow his interest in filesharing. Haha, but I would have to agree …

Maybe there is some setting in the application that refers to "dubbing" i don't actually think there is, but if you ever see like "high speed dubbing" or some shit like that, turn it to the other option.

well, 1.13 gHz isnt that great,....have you defragged in a while? or cleaned your disk? defragmenting helps to speed up http://www.webattack.com/get/starter.html that program shows you what is starting up [dunno if it will help] p.s. is there a disk in your ROM drive? (whirring sound)

I work for BGSU's Computing Connection, and I use/reccomend Zone Alarm for a firewall, and McAffee for anti-virus. Oh and Firefox for Internet browsing. Kaspersky may be good, i've never tried it.

My friends computer is all f***** up and definitely needs reformatting (trust me) except, he doesn't have the quick restore disks. Is there any other way to reformat his computer? He has the windows XP disk

I use soulseek for filesharing. No ads, no spyware, real straight forward. Run winsockfix in my sig, it only takes a couple minutes and a restart. It may bring back your internet.

don't forget to power cycle. I dunno how Vonage works, but I would plug the router in first let it boot up and then turn on your comp and vonage.

find the disks that came with your computer that say something about a "QuickRestore" or "system recovery" then you should just be able to pop that disk in and restart your comp. It should give you instructions from there. (there may be multiple disks in your quick recovery set.)

Try running this prog (http://rcc.bgsu.edu/faq/Files/FixSecureWebsites.exe) and/or try the "winsockfix" in my signature both are completely harmless(theyre just restoring defaults), but can do a lot of good if something internet related is corrupted

If you have your windows XP OS disc, I think you can use it to repair windows (not reformat, just repair) or just download IE form the microsoft update page. Try running winsockfix in my sig for sh*ts and giggles. (it only takes 2 minutes and a restart)

Sounds like you have a german version of spybot, i'd just uninstall spybot and stick with Adaware SE. P.S. if you dont have SP2 then get yourself a free firewall like Zone Alarm.

Just get rid of norton if you're not paying for it and get a free firewall that's just as good like Zone Alarm.
