It says 5 in the title but it applies to 6 as well(states this at the bottom). Hope it helps.
When using Outlook Express 6 on Win XP SP2 and Office 97, I am always getting error "The spell check on this document was halted. Do you want to send anyway?"
It worked fine on OE 6 with Windows ME.
Is something not being installed correctly??
What else may be wrong?
Thanks
Charles
Just left click and hold on a blank area of the task bar and drag it back to the bottom of the screen. If you are using XP you may need to right click on the task bar and uncheck 'Lock the Taskbar' first.
Power supply would be my guess.
I had a similar issue with a Samsung laser printer. Point and print didn't work, I had to manually add the printer on each workstation; add a local port using the unc path (\\server name\printer share name) and use 'Have disk' and the driver CD.
Worth a shot!?
It seems you have an ECS motherboard.
Check this link
This is the first version of that board since you've stated yours is old.
Check the link in the Important Note section. it will tell you how to check which version of the motherboard you have and how to find out which bios version you have.
If this is your board, Before we try the bios route go here
and download the USB 2.0 driver for Windows XP(Version 2.44). Try the setup again. if it fails try to update the driver using device manager.
Let us know how it goes, and the board and bios version.
ive tried the "help and support from microsoft" before but sadly still the same. my motherboard is p4VMM2. It is an old motherboard. And how do i update bios?
The problem is most likely in the bios setup. As the system is booting up you should see a message telling you to Press Esc (or Del or F1)to enter Setup. Do so and once you're in setup look for something like 'Startup Sequence' or 'Boot Order' and make the CD the first device. There will be instructions at the bottom of the screen on how to select, change and save settings.
This link should make that a bit more clear.
Good luck :)
Hey there,
I don't know if I have what you would consider a problem, but I am having some dificulty trying to reinstall XP on my computer! I recently ordered the recovery CDs for the computer which I am told have the OS and drivers on them. All I want is a clean install of the operating system. My only problem is that I can't get my computer to boot from the CD drive. I thought that all I would need to do in order to reinstall would be to restart with the recovery CD in the drive. So far I've had no luck. Though I'm sure it's only something simple, I don't know exactly what I could be doing wrong. :o Any help would be much appreciated!

Check that all your system fans are working, especially in power supply and on CPU.

Is the Guest account enabled on the desktop?
On my Windows XP system, it refuses to let me download anything from any source. Uploads it will allowed, but no downloads. Runs a traditional DSL speed. I have run McAffee on it, Spybot S&D, and PestPatrol Corporate Edition,. and I can't find anything to explain why this is so. I even disabled my Firewall. Any help?
To turn off the automatic reboot, go to Control Panel, System. Click on the Advanced tab, and under Startup and Recovery click on the Settings button. Uncheck Automatically restart under System Failure. The next time you have a problem you should see a blue screen. Report back the first few lines.
when i try stuffit expander opens but nothing else happens. i tried dragging them into applications but still nothing. help
Try dragging the dmg file onto the Disk Copy Utility, this should mount a volume on the desktop with the same name as the dmg file.
Have you installed Service Pack 2? If not, that'd be my first attempt at a fix.
Here's what Pinnacle's Knowledge Base suggests:
Pinnacle has not reproduced the problem but has gotten customer feedback on how to
work around this issue. The issue is caused by a previous version of InstallShield conflicting
with our installer.
More information can be found at the InstallShield web site:
http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?articleid=q110768
To avoid the error,
1. please locate the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional
2. Rename folder Professional to Pro. Some customer may prefer to delete the folder
instead, if their computer no longer uses the folder.
3. Install Studio 9 and the error will no longer appear.
Hope that works for you.
Howdy,
First of all, just let me say i really don't know much about computer systems so you will need to bear with me.....i have recently tried to install the program Pinnacle studio 9 onto my computar. While installing disc 1, a dialog box appeared reading " component transfer error" with details:
Component: guided tour
File group multimedia tutorial
File: E:\setup..tutorial\supportfiles\creatingmenus.swf
Error: Data error ( cyclic redundancy check )Does anyone have any idea what this means?
When i click on O.K it automatically uninstalls the program.
I am running Windows XP professional 2002, service pack 2
Intel(R)
Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80 GHz
1.82 GHz, 256 MB of RamPioneer DVD-RW DVR -109
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks........
Your MB Page at MSI Definitely not the easiest site to navigate!
Could you tell me where on MSI you found the driver. I loaded XP on my PC and it can't find my sound driver. I have the same motherboard. I went to MSI, but all my searches couldn't find the model. I also went to driverguide.com and my searches all directed me to MSI's site. Please help, I am feeling completely illiterate!!!! Thanks
1) Yes, i've been using them for quite a while now. i've found the -R to be more widely compatible with various DVD readers.
2)Yes. Just bought a stack of 50 for about $20 Cdn.
Hi all...yeah, I know this dosen't belong here, but there dosen't appear to be a proper forum for it, so...
I'm shopping for DVD+R media, and have found Ritek Ridata Branded 8X DVD+R Media 100 Pack in Cake Box Spindle for $30. plus shipping. I have two questions...
1) Is Ritek Ridata a good quality media?
2) Is $30. a good deal?
Try Here. The 'CD' in step #1 is Windows XP not the program you're having trouble with.
C:\WINDOWS32\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
What is this? Some of my programs, that used to work on my XP machine, no longer work. How do I repair this?
If it's still under warrantee contact Dell for a replacement; if not then it's probably time to buy a new drive.
i've tried to right click it and hit eject but it won't budge. i'm going to try to restart it and see if it helps. if not what should i do?
dell dimension 2400
windows xphow can i fix this drive? i stuck a paperclip to get it to come open, but it still will not do it by itself. :(
Try RASPPPOE . Be sure to check the ReadMe for NT.
First off, I have no experiance with NT. I have used 95, 98, 2000 Pro, and XP Pro. With that out of the way, how do you get NT workstation to recognize a DSL modem? I am trying to connect to the modem via ethernet card. The card is installed, with the proper drivers, and working. Put in the install disk for the modem, tell the installer that it is connected via ethernet, and it can't find the modem. Try to ping the modem, and get a 'request timed out' message. What do I need to enable/disable to get this to work?
Try disabling the Messenger service. (Control Panel, Admin. Tools, Services)
Firewall software may help too.
Try saving the attached media file to your hard drive and then open it from there instead of from the email.
:?: You don't need to buy anything :!:
Look down the page about half way there's a batch file to download and run from safe mode, that's it!
Look for "Remove SpyAxe. Removal instructions"
Thanks for the link but I refuse to purchase their product. I would buy a new computer before I would give in to them.
hey every1, I'm new.
I found this site searching for a antivirus software.
As i read a couple threads i notice i had similar problems. My virus alert is blinkning saying that i am infected with malware, spyware, quite a number of them. I downloaded spyaxe and malwarewipe but they only did the scanning, Now my internet explorer homepage lately has been redirecting to a security site telln me that i must download spyware/axe protector, but just now i checked the explorer again and it was back to normal. When i read some of the threads Spyaxe came up alot as a problem. I am thinking that i too may have that spyaxe problem, along with the viruses my computer has. Can any1 help me, tell what to do, where to go, how to do???? i have avast but i'm not sure if its solving my problems because the virus alert is stil saying that i am infected. My computer is jacked up. I need help Can any1 help me, i would really appreciate it.
Spyaxe Removal. I used 'Remove SpyAxe. Removal instructions' to clean up my sister inlaw's computer when all else failed.
That's what i'd try.
According to Canon's support site you should run the Uninstall from Start, All Programs, Canon folder and not Add/Remove programs. Of course you'll have to reinstall to do this. If that still doesn't work try emptying the folder first' or Shift + Delete (bypasses the Recycle Bin).
HELP!!! I get this error message everytime I try to load Auto Cad 2000. Top Of error box(16 bit windows subsystem)
Error message C:\windows\system32\autoexe.nt.The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft windows applications. How can I correct this?
Check that the fans in your computer case are working and free of dust bunnies. You may need to enter the BIOS setup to reset the error.
What causes this error? And how can I fix it??
Thanks.
Since Upgrading From Me To Xp My Pc Doesn't Auto Shutoff When I Shut Down. Anyone Know A Fix?
Print Spooler should start automatically on boot up. Try this; right click on My Computer and left click Manage. In the left pane expand Services and Applications, then click on Services; now on the right pane scroll down to Print Spooler and double click on it. Make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic and the then click on Start.
Sounds like a corrupt driver...Try opening Printers and Faxes, Delete the Epson(s), then go to File, Server Properties. Click the Drivers tab and remove all the epson drivers. A reboot wouldn't hurt at this point, then add the printer again using the driver you downloaded.
The proper way would be to install 98 first and then XP; however it is possible to load 98 on an existing XP install if the c drive is formatted fat or fat32, not ntfs. There are instructions at DougKnox.com.
Just do a search for installing 98 after XP.
Did you jumper the drive(D) as slave?
Firefox 1.03....Fixed.
Check that the battery is seated properly. Remove it and reinstall it.
I have been trying to install numerous sound cards and I can not get it to work. I would remove it from slot to slot and I continue to recieve an error message of Data invalid. I found sites that gave advice that were all the same but when I follow the instructions the outcome continues to be the same. I know the cards work so that is not the problem. I have been working on this for some time and it's making me sick.
Someone please help!
Thank You!
Also Thunderbird is a good alternative if you want to use something other than Outlook Express for email.
"He returned and told me that they could not only match the $2199.00 price and NO TAX and a $85 gift card!
Is this too good to be true? I want to buy it from them however don’t understand what they get out of the deal? Also could they sell me something weaker and clam it has the parts I wanted?
I also told him before I was interested in the $350 3 yr warranty….."
To answer your ?'s, in my opinion...
No.
They're not paying HP $2199, and they'll likely make a profit on the warranty.
No! That's fraud!
Did you try to uninstall SP2 from the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel?
The only changes that were made on the print server has been added patch/fix;
What about the clients? Have you updated to SP2? Maybe the firewall is blocking the ports used by LDAP.
Can someone recommend a good, free registry cleaner software for me? I've used one in the past but can't remember the name, but it was too aggressive and messed up my PC a bit. I think that's how I got my problem with not being able to access my Display Properties anymore.
Thanks.
I like Microsoft's Regclean. Here's a bunch to check out. Have fun :!: and keep system restore running ;)
