Or better yet, let's just close it. Sounds like a member posting an assignment, and not reading the Announcement.

CompTIA's A+ Certification is a great place to start. There are books all over the place that prepare you for that. Also, a book or two that I like: Upgrading and Repairing PCs PC Hardware in a Nutshell

I've dealt with this in the past regarding advertisers on the site. Dani does have the ability to filter out certain ads, and she's done so for me in the past. If you know of a site that is particularly undesirable, and it's showing up in the ads we're rotating, …

Okay, so I bought a SCSI hard drive for an old system, I got it, and it turned out not to be Ultra Wide like they said it would be, but it was Ultra 160LVD. Now, this isn't a problem, because I've got a terminator and everything to make it …

I'll chime in and say that this is sad news indeed (I actually used Suprnova as my source for downloading Linux iso torrents after release because the main servers would be slammed), but... Let's not post links to other torrent sites here. We all know the bulk of those sites …

Yeah, think of them as merit badges, or something, not as a Scarlet letter. There are lots of informative members here with low reputations, either because they've rubbed a couple people the wrong way, or the people they've helped don't care to give reputation. If it helps any, I gave …

Looking at the Aopen website, they don't list a model motherboard by that name. Can you re-confirm that? Also, are you sure it's not a floppy port?

I've got RSS feeds from Microsoft, Slashdot, and some other sites integrated into Firefox. I simply hit the RSS button on the site, and it loaded. Is that supposed to be how we're to do it here? I'd like to keep tabs on the site even when I'm not here.

Just curious... This forum seems really neat, and I'll bet the people here are really interesting. Is there a TechTalk Forums IRC channel? I already frequent irc.freenode.net-- do you guys hang out anywhere else?

Where'd you get that description from? Sounds like somebody's already done it-- couldn't you just implement that software, and write up the process for that? I'm a networking hobbyist, so to speak. One of my favorite things to do is to is connect disparate system architectures together, and make them …

Can't comment about the HL2 ending, but your sig is certainly, um... loud. Try making it smaller, or something, and cut out some of the whitespace below the pic.

Just a helpful tip while you're on this forum: In the future, please name your thread something relevant to your topic. "Need C++ help quick", in addition to seeming a little rude, tells us absolutely nothing about what you need help with. I mean, come on... it's a little obvious. …

BLECH! I'm not normally one to suggest this, but you might just want to go ahead and go for the jugular: consider backing up your data, reformatting your drive, and reinstalling Windows. Even after doing all of DMR's suggestions, you still might not end up with a "clean" system. What …

You've probably got some other funkyness happening. Try disabling BHOS: In IE, click Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. Uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions", Click OK, and then restart Internet Explorer. See if it still does that.
a tee filter what in the world is that............
It's a common UNIX utility. Basically, you pipe the output of one command to tee, and it acts like a "tee" pipe in plumbing, allowing you to output to to different places, like STDOUT and a file, at the same time.
