Re: Or better yet, let's just close it. Sounds like a member posting an assignment, and not reading the Announcement.
Re: CompTIA's A+ Certification is a great place to start. There are books all over the place that prepare you for that. Also, a book or two that I like: Upgrading and Repairing PCs PC Hardware in a Nutshell
Re: I've dealt with this in the past regarding advertisers on the site. Dani does have the ability to filter out certain ads, and she's done so for me in the past. If you know of a site that is particularly undesirable, and it's showing up in the ads we're rotating, …
Re: Can't you just disable the onboard sound on your current system, and then install your Soundblaster card?
Re:
hasnt this topic already been posted?
Yes, numerous times. Good catch ;) Shows how useful the search function is, right?
Okay, so I bought a SCSI hard drive for an old system, I got it, and it turned out not to be Ultra Wide like they said it would be, but it was Ultra 160LVD. Now, this isn't a problem, because I've got a terminator and everything to make it …
Re: I'll chime in and say that this is sad news indeed (I actually used Suprnova as my source for downloading Linux iso torrents after release because the main servers would be slammed), but... Let's not post links to other torrent sites here. We all know the bulk of those sites …
Re:
look just give me a example, for example a basic program which will use the graphic.h
That's not what you asked initially. I'm sure had you asked that, someone would have done that by now.
Re: Can you do us all a favor? Plz don't uz AOLspk in hr. U dont need 2 uz cute wurdz here. If you're asking for help in a forum, the absolute best thing you can do is be as clear as possible, which means stop speaking like you're in some …
Re: Yeah, think of them as merit badges, or something, not as a Scarlet letter. There are lots of informative members here with low reputations, either because they've rubbed a couple people the wrong way, or the people they've helped don't care to give reputation. If it helps any, I gave …
Re: Looking at the Aopen website, they don't list a model motherboard by that name. Can you re-confirm that? Also, are you sure it's not a floppy port?
Re: Have you written anything yourself? Please read the Announcement regarding homework.
I've got RSS feeds from Microsoft, Slashdot, and some other sites integrated into Firefox. I simply hit the RSS button on the site, and it loaded. Is that supposed to be how we're to do it here? I'd like to keep tabs on the site even when I'm not here.
Just curious... This forum seems really neat, and I'll bet the people here are really interesting. Is there a TechTalk Forums IRC channel? I already frequent irc.freenode.net-- do you guys hang out anywhere else?
Re: Where'd you get that description from? Sounds like somebody's already done it-- couldn't you just implement that software, and write up the process for that? I'm a networking hobbyist, so to speak. One of my favorite things to do is to is connect disparate system architectures together, and make them …
Re: It would probably depend on the environment you're working in. What OS is this targeted for?
Re: Can you draw a picture of how everything's connected? This would really help me out, at least.
Re: What's the exact error message, and what OS? There are several instances where you could get that message, each situation being different.
Re: Plain and simple: Hubs can't connect you to broadband. Routers can.
Re: Can't comment about the HL2 ending, but your sig is certainly, um... loud. Try making it smaller, or something, and cut out some of the whitespace below the pic.
Re:
Thank you very much Catweazle/Coconut Monkey. You have saved me much time searching for a forum where somebody will actually be bothered to answer my problem. I think I would be better off selling the processor. I shouldn't have too many problems shifting one of this quality should I?
What's … | |
Re: Have you tried browsing the source for the Linux fdformat for ideas? It does all of that stuff, IIRC.
Re: Just a helpful tip while you're on this forum: In the future, please name your thread something relevant to your topic. "Need C++ help quick", in addition to seeming a little rude, tells us absolutely nothing about what you need help with. I mean, come on... it's a little obvious. …
Re: UFS2, baby! That's the closest thing I could say. I primarily run FreeBSD 5.2 on my machine, running UFS2, which has journalling. But, on my Linux machines, I run ext3.
Re: Are you plugged into a grounded outlet, or did you pop the 3rd prong out? That sounds to me like there's some kind of grounding issue....
Re: Norton used to make a tool as part of its Disk Doctor suite that could recover files off of a formatted hard drive. Ell if I know whether they make it any more, though...
Re: Did it work fine in your previous OS? I'd imagine that with updated drivers, you've done all you can on the software side of things. The only thing I'd try there is pulling the sound devices out of device manager, then reloading the drivers. Other than that, you could have …
Re: We don't do your homework here for you. Please read the Announcement.
Re: Let's jump back on topic here, okay? This thread's been hijacked by this grammar discussion. Though completely valid and topical, I fear it's going to detract from the original poster's question.
Re: In the future, please choose a more descriptive title for your posts. It will do nothing but help attract people to your thread to provide help.
Re: Not knowing PHP, it'd probably be just an if statement of some sort, perhaps? If fieldname=NULL, then throw some kind of notification?
Re:
hey, and I want a new digital camera, and a new car, and a new house, and I have no money either...
Yeah! Sounds good! Let me set up a donations link! I'll give you $1 if you give me one. Why not just pick up some extra work? Take …
Re: BLECH! I'm not normally one to suggest this, but you might just want to go ahead and go for the jugular: consider backing up your data, reformatting your drive, and reinstalling Windows. Even after doing all of DMR's suggestions, you still might not end up with a "clean" system. What …
Re: I pretty much rely exclusively on Newegg. The only time I go elsewhere is if I'm looking for used/refurb items, or NewEgg doesn't have some obscure part that I need. Just to throw my $.02 in, I've got a Barton XP2500, and I REALLY like it. I know there are …
Re:
how do i figure out who made this mobo/what it is? it is a socket 423 with a covered north bridge and a VIA VT8233 southbridge. there are no markings , brands etc.?? any ideas?? thank you prynas
Any other numbers anywhere? Re: You've probably got some other funkyness happening. Try disabling BHOS: In IE, click Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab. Uncheck "Enable third party browser extensions", Click OK, and then restart Internet Explorer. See if it still does that.
Re: Try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307545
Re: Sorry, but we don't do your homework for you here on Daniweb. Please write some code, or at least state how you think you should proceed, and we'll provide you some tips.
Re: This is kind of funny, and all, but what kind of light does this portray "The Linux Community" in? I mean, first we're shown as a bunch of geeky hobbyists, but now we're going to be shown as some c00l d00dzers who are fighting against a big meanie corporation. I'd …
Re: Are you running the Windows Firewall? It's highly likely that Windows is blocking Port 80.
Re:
a tee filter what in the world is that............
It's a common UNIX utility. Basically, you pipe the output of one command to tee, and it acts like a "tee" pipe in plumbing, allowing you to output to to different places, like STDOUT and a file, at the same time.
Re: Check pricewatch. Just a couple months ago, I purchased a dual-fan 500W PSU for $16, shipped. Even though you can slave two power supplies together, that's pretty, UM, GHETTO. For one thing, how easy would it be to find a case that accepts two PSUs? You'd probably end up drilling …
Re: I think I read this on Slashdot, and I thought it was incredibly interesting. Does anyone find it crazy that now IBM makes Mac Processors, but Macs aren't called "IBM compatible"? Personally, I think that IBM did well to get rid of that line. They didn't seem to be making …
Re: OH YEAH... heard about this one. I don't think you'll get banned or anything, but I'm going to defer judgement to another mod on this one as far as it's deletion or not. It's a REALLY odd story-- I don't advise members to read this unless they're interested in people's …
Re: > It might be a little easier to look at your code if it were enclosed within code tags. ...I went ahead and added the tags, but what's the deal with ALL CAPS LATELY?
Re: I think serfurj's post is completely on-topic, as it gives the OP an idea of how it's done in another language, so they're not being spoon-fed. Sounds like an excellent answer to me...
Re:
Welcome back Narue, I hope you had a good vacation ...
...I don't think she's back. yb1pls keeps resurrecting old threads :( |
The End.
