Probably want to try CWShredder:

Failing that, you can post a HijackThis log here in this forum.

If working without extensions turned on has an impact, then the best route is to open Extension Manager, and turn extensions on one-by-one. When the system freezes up, you just disable the one that you just turned on. It's an arduous process, but it should turn something up for you.

Quick question: Are you running PC3200 (400mhz) RAM?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

I'd start with simple SCSI troubleshooting. Are there any LUN ID's to be set? Does the drive need any termination?

I know under Linux/UNIX, I'd check the startup messaging to see if the system saw it there. Have you tried it on another system?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

This sounds like a homework problem. What are your thoughts on the situation? I can think of a general idea of how I'd set it up, but I think it'd be best to see your take on it before providing any further assistance.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

What do you plan on doing with the system? Gaming? Coding? Drafting? Music?

Before making any suggestions, it would help to know what you're doing, and what your current system setup is.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You can simply install a Wireless access point into one of the switch ports. Usually, the switches have an uplink port that you can connect it into, and work just fine. At least, that's how my setup is running.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

What's it doing/not doing?

Posting code is one thing, but if you describe what is supposed to happen, someone can help you target what the problem is.

I would like to know where you read that DJ has Linux support...

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

More than likely, that's what MP3 players in cars would recognize-- the ID3 tags.

Many programs can change/edit these tags. Check this out for more information:

If you look at the connector, does it look like this:

+---+
|OOX|
+---+

Where the O's are wires plugged in? If so, you should be able to simply plug the wires in where they fit, notating which pin is the + or -.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You will have to get a 4-pin to 3-pin adapter:

http://www.heatsinkstore.com/4to3ad.html

Then, you can use any adapter that uses a 3 pin header on it. That additional 3-pin cable running off of the fan is a Tachometer wire, which you can connect to the fan header on the motherboard, for RPM speed monitoring.

21db isn't that loud, really... I mean, I've got 3 fans running at nearly 60db apiece-- THAT's loud!

What errors do you get when copying the files back? The folder has to have write capability, otherwise IE couldn't write to it.

You could use this to go wireless. You need a broadband adapter for the playstation, you can get that about anywhere:

You should be able to do that-- just set the Nvidia as your main card. Don't actually install any drivers for the Matrox, though-- just use the default Windows drivers. When you want to game, just disable the extra displays provided by the Matrox card. You should be in good shape.

Have you tried walking through the installation yet? Last time I ran the Exchange server setup, it told you what steps you needed to take before, after, and during the installation. I'd just run setup, and see what the instructions list.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

To be honest with you, you'd probably be better off buying a new CPU/mobo combo than upgrading. PIII's cost way more than they're worth right now, like $100 for a 1.13ghz chip. I'd imagine, though, that'd be the highest you could go. I think PriceWatch has some PIII's listed, still.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

I'd suggest investing in a different machine for AutoCAD stuff. The graphics card isn't incredibly powerful in it... But, for office and productivity tasks, it'd be golden.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

If you go to Microsoft's website, they actually have a download called Windows Script 5.8. Simply reinstalling that has solved many an error like this for me.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Have you tried booting from your MacOS installation CD? It could be that you need to run Disk Setup and initialize the disc with the proper HFS partitions before booting it. It's at least worth a shot.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Yes. You absolutely can do that. But, you'll have to uninstall the program from Drive 0, and then reinstall it, being sure to specify you want to install it on the right drive.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

What resolution are you trying to change it to?

What is the size of your monitor?

It sounds like you're just picking the wrong resolution. I'd start small, and move up gradations, like 800x600, then to 1024x768, and so forth. Also, you can go in to Device Manager (right click My Computer, then click Device Manager), and remove the device from the Display Adapters section, which will allow you to reinstall the driver.

Hello,

Can some-one please tell me :

What is "Organic EL screen" ?

It's just another type of display-- I'm guessing EL meaning "electroluminescent", or light-up

I am new to MP3 players.
I want to buy one that does not only play mp3 files but also play and record the radio aswell as record voice/sound/dictation.

Anyway, I am not interested in the "flash memory" ones because even though they are "remove-able memory" they do not contain that much space. And, those that do are too expensive.
And so, I thought it would be best if I get the one that has "internal memory" (hard drive) that can hold music aswell as data files so I can easily transfer important data files from my pc to it and carry it on my pocket always.

Anyway, as I was shopping around, I came across :

MP3 USB Key, Internal Memory and Hard Drive (3 types of MP3 Players/Recorders). Now, I am spoilt for choice. I mean, what's the difference between the "Internal Memory" type and the "Hard drive" and the "MP3 USB Key" type MP3 Players/Recorders ?
And, if the "MP3 USB Key" type is a "remove-able memory" then why do the following links advertising "MP3 USB Key" Mp3 Players/Recorders technical information section mention that they do not have "removeable memory" ?
Strange !
I am going to ask the website these questions but usually it takes 3 days for a website to get back and …

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Have you tried a new power supply yet?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You'll need to get a wireless adapter for your PC, and a wireless router. For the Playstation, you'll need the broadband adapter. You might want to consider just connecting the Playstation directly to the wireless router, rather than using wireless, just for the sake of simplicity.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

More than likely, you can just place any 2.5" IDE laptop into the caddy that the old one was in. It should work, so long as the BIOS can support the drive's size. If it's really old, I wouldn't go larger than 100-120GB.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Are you sure you installed the hard drive correctly? A hard drive cable installed upside-down can contribute to a big loss in speed, though the drive will work.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Have you reseated the drive cable? When do you get that error?

I would suggest connecting the drive as a secondary master for the sake of troubleshooting. By isolating the drive, we can determine if your problem is due to a bad drive, cable, or motherboard, if it's even a hardware problem.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

There's no such thing as "Master" drives in SATA nomenclature. What errors are you getting with your setup? Additionally, are you wanting to install on one drive, and use the other as a second drive, or are you wanting to run a RAID system?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Do you want RAID or not? You have to configure it in the RAID BIOS to set up a RAID set that includes both drives.

I have the same problem with my Tecra 8100. The new dvd rom Sd-R2102 i just put in works OK but every time I restart my computer, the " IDE~1 ERRA" comes on before it boots. I've to unpuge the drive and reseated it and ask the window XP to find it again before I can use it. Can you helpme? I'm new in the comunity and also new for ITs with limited knowage. Thank you.

This is a REALLY old thread. Please search the forum for this error-- it's been discussed at length here. I believe there's a fix available on this forum for that.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

What is the output you're currently getting? That may help us determine where the hang-up is. Additionally, if you don't mind posting the actual code you're using to display the calendar, that would probably help.

Also, have you considered using a table with invisible borders, rather than trying to display it like you're doing? Just a thought, as you could create a 7 column by 5 row table, and populate it pretty easily.

Hey gang...

Quick reminder: Phrases like "bullshit" and "Japs" aren't really nice things to say, and don't quite fall in line with our AUP. I think the discussion is a very healthy one, and all, but let's be sensitive of the words we use. :)

My recommendation would be the Dell Axim line of PDAs. They're really cheap at the Dell outlet:

http://www.dell.com/outlet

Now, I do have to lay a disclaimer that I do have affilliation with the above company, but my recommendation comes from the fact that I'm posting in this thread from my Axim X30 624mhz with WiFi and Attachable keyboard.

What's your email provider? I just read on Slashdot that there's a mail filter company that's just added a bunch of AOL addresses to its black list.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

I can't find it right now because the work machine I'm posting from is locked down, but I think you might want to look into a feature called auditing

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You don't have to use MusicMatch unless you're fooling with DRM music-- the Dell DJ driver will allow you to copy through a device in My Computer.

But, I'd say this decision is in the eye of the beholder, or the beholder of the wallet.
The DJ is probably the most bang for the buck, GB to dollar-wise, but I think the interface on the iPod is a little nicer. My advice would be to hit up a Dell kiosk in your local mall (if available), an Apple store, or other electronics retailer, and try them all out before making a decision.

Hey there,

You've already posted a question in the Python forum-- anyone skilled in Python is already checking out your thread. As such, I'm going to close this crosspost. :)

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Open up the system, and see if there are any lights on the motherboard. You might need a motherboard replacement-- it sounds like the BIOS isn't shutting everything down that it's supposed to.

Unless there's some really big current draw on the motherboard, you're probably not going to hurt anything, IMHO. If all else fails, you might be able to replace that fan with one that runs off of a drive power connector, unless you've got a system where the BIOS complains about not having a fan connected to it.

Lounging on a beach drinking Margaritas is worth while...

I don't have a beach nearby, and it costs around $70 US to fill up my van with gas. That's a LOT of work I'd have to do! :o

to be very honest, i have never much cared where anyone was from, if they had good info, or if i could enjoy them, i could care less if they came from backwater hic town.

I feel this exact same way. The only reason I care whether or not the location is listed in the threads is to get an idea of when the user might see/respond to the message I left. I know that if I'm responding, and it's 11:30 AM EST here, the poster based in Bangalore India might be on his/her way to bed at 10:00PM IST.

Other than that, it doesn't really bother me too much either way...

Contribute code? Can you be more specific?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Why do that? Let your Python code run in Java:

It's a python interpreter written in pure Java! Snazzy.

How much stuff are you downloading? What's your connection speed? What bittorrent client are you using?

It sounds like your upload bandwidth might be getting saturated. Try turning down the upload rate of your bittorrent client, like down to 15-20kB/s.
