I may have shared I was on a team long ago with tracking locations of fleet vehicles this area got a little looking into. I am not an authority but as we did meet with cellular carriers we did pose questions about IP assignments and more. Mostly for mobile use since that's what the product used.

I'll assume you are familiar with routing tables or have heard of such so the deal is that IP addresses don't move too far as this table has to keep up with what IP address is going to what area. And now with IPv6, the old ways of having staff to maintain the tables is asking far too much. But I digress.

It was over a decade ago and even today I have yet to find a cheap or free to use GeoIP API that has all the IP subnets and addresses.

What to do? Consider a two tier GeoIP system. Your choice on implemention but maybe your own GeoIP database which you build from users that don't resolve from what you use or will use today. Think of it like a failover system.

Even I when I see a SIGFAULT as you noted would be inserting code to help me track down the line that faulted. Once I know the line that faulted I can printk or such what values are going into that line.

That aside I rarely used GDB because I'm a bit old school which means I add debugging code to print variables at the point of failure which has worked well for me. I can't explain it but most of the time I work with another coder never knew of old school print statements. Their choice to setup GDB and more.

A few ideas.

First, no data returned is data. Some may differ on that.
Second, let's say your code adds "this" to Maximo but there is no confirmation returned. This means you'll have to write code to test if "this" was added to Maximo. Your own data check.

I see a few problems.

1. %ld is for long integers. If you answer 11000111101011101100011100011011 to line 9, most C compilers would be capable of containing at least the [−2,147,483,647, +2,147,483,647] so you would blow past this data type capacity.
2. To overcome such a limitation consider using strings. Then you could find the string's length and use it to count 0's and 1's. Psuedo code only!

Think over how else data can find its way back to you. What other methods have you explored or heard of?

I understand the frustration of a dead PC but without make, model or if some built machine of parts all advice is generic and never can be spot on.

For example the symptom can be bad PSU (power supply unit), motherboard, cards or an assembly error. The symptom does not tell us which area it is.

So you may ask how does a tech know what to do?

In short this is called The Dead PC. The tech takes it to the bench and verifies the symptom. Now what happens next can vary with the tech and their inspection of the PC. Here's a few scenarios.

1. The PC is inspected and the tech finds scorch marks on a board. This means there was a catastrophic failure and the estimate usually entails a new motherboard, RAM, CPU, PSU and all the cards. That estimate is just that. Some boards and components may survive but due to consumer laws your estimate can not be exceeded if the owner accepts it and repairs begin.
2. PC parts look fine. At this stage the estimate is still as bad as #1 and depending on shop policy some diagnostic work is done such as downsizing the machine. This entails unplugging cards and drives to see if you can get a power up. If the PC won't power up with all the cards and drives unplugged it's what is left that is suspect. An estimate may be given at this time with a caveat that …

I'd start with a search like https://www.google.com/search?&q=open+source+code+editor+cloud but I can't see how anyone can determine best except you since you didn't write how to score these systems. For example your cloud could be AWS, some Google Cloud or a Cloud you run on Linux. Also you may have some need for a full up IDE with compiler backend which I use at times to try to answer questions here.

You took a misstep there by going with YouTube. YouTube's model does not appear to support this. I'm told what you are asking for is done widely in another industry so look up "xcams" and see if they or another vendor can work for you.

What I think it is can upset some. Try the usual work first. I'll take it you are new to all this.

1. Remove all power, remove the battery EVEN if it is internal and hard to unplug. In decades I've only encountered one model line that you can't do this step which are those Microsoft Surface models. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds, release, slip in the battery, apply power and test.
2. Remove any card, memory stick and drive you can to downsize the computer. Test. What happens? Remember we are not trying to boot Windows or any OS. Looking for signs of life.
3. If steps 1 and 2 fail to show progress it's usually a failed motherboard. I rarely find it to be anything else.

However given that age I would try in step 2 to power up without the battery since a few machines that old have a defective battery. Test without it in step 2.

Frankly the machine is not worth anything today. We have two like it at the office in a pickled state in case an old client shows up and wants yet another "can you change one thing?" But they are not used for anything but that client's requests which if you must ask they pay for the service so we oblige.

@Dani and others. One of my clients manufactures door operators which are controlled with an single board computer with motor controls. The motor is sometimes called a servo by some. The blynk part sounds familiar as in some product name.

To the OP, this is work done by folk that spend a lot of time learning their craft. To convert this, read Jim's reply and seek out the documentation for the products and find your design spec.
