Hello,
Are you after burning the PowerPoint to disc so that it plays automatically in a computer or are you after burning it to DVD so you can watch it on a DVD player?
Hello,
Are you after burning the PowerPoint to disc so that it plays automatically in a computer or are you after burning it to DVD so you can watch it on a DVD player?
Hello,
Did you rewrite the MBR?
EasyBCD lets you adjust the MBR and you can back it up and then write the MBR to disk; it won't make any changes until you write the new one to disk.

Hello,
You should be able to copy the contents from the folders into the new folder. However if you have files of the same type and name you will need to decide which file you want.
You could drag the two old folders into the new folder. Then copy the contents of the old folders, to the new folder, don't copy duplicate files. Any duplicate files would be left in their respective directories and you can rename and then copy them.

Seems Like a sound plan to me...

Hello,
I don't think you will have any problems. Make sure you boot device is set to the Win 7 installation (in the BIOS).
You may add the drive later after you have installed Windows 7 if you are bothered about corrupting the data.
You may also need to take ownership of some files, I have done something similar to what you did and had to take ownership of the files before I could access and transfer them.
Just to let you know; new hard drives usually use a SATA connection, if your old hard drive is SATA you just need to connect it and make sure the Windows 7 installation is set to be booted in the BIOS. If your OLD hard drive is PATA then you may need to change the jumper settings if you are connecting another device on the same cable e.g. a DVD drive (change jumper settings on this device too).

Hello,
Have you booted from the recovery disk?
What exactly happened/ what did it say?

Hmm...
Maybe you should ask her a few more questions.
Does it happen all the time?
How does she send the email (by clicking on a email link or other means)?
Does she have the web browser open already, or does the web browser start up with the homepage and subject line shown? etc...
I don't think a hacked version of windows would do any better. Something is wrong with the hard drive disk, sort that out and you should be able OK.
Hello,
If you are using windows have you run 'chkdsk'?
If you right click on the drive icon then click on > properties > tools. Then click on the button that will check the volume for errors. A box should come up, make sure both boxes are checked; fix file system errors and repair sectors.
- Let us know how it goes
Hello,
You may need to fix errors on the disk, if there are corrupt sectors you may need to scan the file system for errors.
Have a look at this. If you can boot into windows with command prompt you maybe able to do it.
If you are using the method in the previous post you will need a system to transfer the data to. If you can't fix that hard drive you are going to need a new hard drive, you will need to reinstall windows.

Hello,
Have you added any extra partitions, I remember when I was trying to restore factory settings it didn't like the fact I had added extra partitions; just a thought.
Have you backed up the disk just in case your attempts end up with you having a disk without an OS on?

Hello,
I don't know why dell has told you that they could have at least tried some troubleshooting steps, I think they are after you buying another computer. Worse case scenario should be you'll have to buy some RAM.
The steps above are a start. Don't forget you can salvage parts of your old machine, optical drives and hard drives will still be working; you may consider removing the hard drive and putting it in a external case to get your old stuff of it. You may only need a base unit as well because you should already have monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers etc...
These appear to be your specs .
Make sure you get the correct memory type and don't exceed the density(capacity).
If in doubt about memory speed go for 266MHz.

Hello,
Try booting into windows in safe mode, there maybe a administrator account; this doesn't usually have a password.
Then you can assign administrative rights back to the your user account.

yea i figured it was that after someone else mentioned it here, so after my sister's done school and paying the bills for my mom (she's in germany for a month cuz her sisters really really sick -> surgery complications) i am taking it and my laptop to get fixed.
thanks everyone.
btw. if it is the motherboard/grafics card and they replace it, the hardrive should be ok right because i took some pics of my b/f's phone and he went and accidentally went and reformatted the memory card and lost all his pics of his son. they should be ok.
one thing about the hubby. he is sooooo computer illiterate its sad, he clicks yes on warnings without reading them all the time. in fact he once deleted windows on his mothers business computer(she's a lawyer - mostly union formations with big companies) she wasnt too happy. lol
If you replace that motherboard with a different one than the original, you will need to reinstall windows; this means formatting the hard drive. You are going to have to backup that drive first.
If you would have come to us when that memory card was first formatted we may have been able to recover that with a few clicks.
Just to clarify, when you press the power button absolutley nothing happens, not even a light coming on or sounds?
With all that dust it is possible the PSU is damaged, even with a damaged motherboard …
Hello,
Perhaps you are missing the drivers for them or maybe the cables aren't connected.
First check the cables are connected and are in the correct port.
Next you have to try to find the correct drivers if the cables are correctly connected.
Do you know the model of you computer or motherboard number?
You may want to try speccy to get further system information.

Hello,
Try pressing 'windows key' and 'R' at the same time then type msconfig and press enter.
Click on the boot tab. This tab should show the operating systems listed at bootup. You can post back with the list, delete any other entry except the one you are using or reduce timeout.

Hello,
Does the computer beep or anything when you turn the PC on?
Have you any other graphics cards to try?
Have you tried different monitors and cables?
Do you have dedicated graphics, onboard or both?

Hello,
I use firefox; try going to tools > options and under the general tab click on always ask me where to save files. Now try to download something. What happens?
You may consider backing everything up and try a system restore; this may solve the problem but won't find the cause, it maybe worth considering later. I would backup anyways, just in cause.
- Let us know how it goes.
btw, you could have converted the FAT32 drive to NTFS without needing to format it via command prompt.
Hello,
Have you check the event viewer to see if any problems are detected?
You say that what you have changed has made no difference, so what haven't you changed?
- Let us know how it goes.
Maybe you should run a virus scan just to check.
You could try booting in safe mode and try downloading a file.
Something you could try out of curiosity is to listen to a radio station over the internet and see what happens, considering that is something that you can't download it may react differently.
Hello,
What has happened the solved note besides posts?
Its a bit annoying reading through a multipage discussion to find out it's already solved.
Just me or are other people experiencing the same?
Hello,

Hello,
Do you get anything displayed at all before booting into your operating system, e.g. boot up messages, logos etc...
Can you enter BIOS?
Which opearating system are you using?
Hello,
Does any logo's or writing appear when you turn the laptop?
Which operating system are you using? If you are using windows try pressing F8 before windows would boot and select Enable low resolution video (640 × 480). If windows starts try installing the appropriate driver for the graphics card (5600HD).

Hello,
Are all the drive letters used up in windows 7? You seem to have a lot of USB devices.
When you connect the hard drives is it the same hard drive that doesn't work?
Try rotating 4 hard drives (A,B,C,D,E) e.g. try Drives;
A+B+C+D
B+C+D+E
If one drive is constantly not showing then perhaps that drive has a problem with it.
You say that the drives aren't seen by the computer, have you looked in device manager to see if they are listed? Also try looking in the disk manager (where you setup partitions, format etc...) to see if all drives have a letter assigned to them.
Could you tell us what the devices are connected to your computer.
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
if you really want help with your problem you are going to have to add more details.
What file is corrupted is it a windows file, one of your own or have you downloaded it?
Has this file always been corrupted or has something happened to cause this, eg power failure, crash, virus etc...
Hello,
How many USB ports does your computer have?
Are the drives host powered or do they have there own power supply?
Does the system only slowdown when the devices are connected.

Nice One, if your problem is solved please mark this thread as solved.
If you need anything else you know where we are.
Okay then try using this to move the second partition next to the first partition and then extend the second partition.
What you should have now is;
| Partition 1 | free space | Partition 2 |
What it should be like after moving the partition;
| Partition 1 | Partition 2 | free space |
Then extend the second partition;
| Partition 1 | Partition 2 >>>>>>>>> |
- Let us know how it goes
I see so you after expanding the second partition.
What you need to do is; click on start then in the search box type disk man then click on create and format hard disk partitions.
Now right click on the first partition(C:) then select shrink volume, reduce the partition size by how much you want to expand the second partition (D:) and click ok,next, finish. Then in the disk manager right click on the second (D:) partition and select extend volume check that the partition is being extended into the free space and click ok,next, finish.
Now the first partition should have been shrunk and the second partition should have been expanded.

Hello,
Are you saying that when you turn the computer on it goes straight into BIOS or are you pressing a key attempting to enter BIOS?
Could you describe or post pictures of what happens when you turn your computer on?
Hello,
Have you tried the laptop without the battery?
Try removing the battery, attach the power cord to the laptop and try turning the laptop on.

Hello,
Have you given EasyBCD a go?
This should rewrite the bootloader. You will be able to add an entry to the bootloader for the old Win 7 installation allowing you to boot that OS. You can keep the new installation aswell; this will give you a dual boot system, even though it is the same OS. You may get rid of the new installation if you want after.

Hello,
Is this the specs of your computer?
Have you checked all cables are correctly connected?
Have you any other psu to try?
Also, are you saying that when you plug the PSU in, a light on the motherboard lights up or the power button light on the case lights up (as if it were switched on).
Hello,
If you are after tranferring files from one partition to the other you should be able to do it through windows explorer. Click on start > computer and then you should be able to transfer the files that way.
If this is not what you are after doing you'll need to add more details.

Hello,
Perhaps you should tell us what you plan on doing. Why would you want to extend the devices?
You say you want to know if you extend the power supply; why don't you just get an extension lead.
You may consider using wireless technology, the cost of wireless equipment maybe less than wired.
Hello,
Simply: as long as the cables will reach.
Does this answer your question or are you looking for a different answer? Add a bit more detail to your question.
Hello,
You could do this, you may want to consider mirroring as well once you have restored the image. I would reduce the partition size for windows and mirror it to the other drive as well as create a system backup.
Once you setup the mirror if either disk fails the other should take over as the mirror partitions contain the same data.
My hard drive has died recently and once I get a replacement back from seagate I will be setting up a RAID solution I think, good job I backed up; I would strongly recommend taking regular backups, as i said mirroring is a good idea.
You maybe able to restore your 1.5TB drive even though you formatted it, if you can't restore your system you may want to try this.
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
Do you still have the orignal hard drive?
Aparently you must restore the system image to a disk which is the same or greater than the backed up system, how big was you windows partition?
How are you trying to restore your system?
Hello,
Its up to you. Personally I would get a different Computer. You could try and build the PC yourself but if you aren't sure you may want to buy a ready made on.
I don't work in $ but at a guess you could get a decent one for maybe $80. Then you have the cost of the card on top.
What I would look for is a computer that you can easily expand and improve.
When I built mine I got a motherboard with 4 slots for RAM and 4 PCI Express slots with a reasonable dual core CPU. I used my existing case, HDD, DVD-RAM drive, GPU and PSU this helped save a bit too. If considering building your own think about what you already have.
Alternatively you could buy a barebone system, this is a usually a base unit with a motherboard, cpu, ram and psu already assembled, tested and working; All you would have to do is put your own optical drive, hard drive and graphics card in.
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
Okay the link you provided shows that you should have a spare/free PCI Express slot.
A low profile card may be more expensive and may have lower performance as there is less room to fit stuff on the card. Usually you get low profile cards for thin desktops and home media centres,
However you may not need a low profile card if you have a full size graphics card and can fit that in then you can get a full sized one. You could ask the company that makes your system if you caan get a full size graphics card.
Looking at the specs you gave you only have a 220 Watt power supply, you wouldn't have enough power for the cards you want to use. Check with this tool here.
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
Is this your computer?
If it is it says there is a pci express x16 slot.
By the way you can upgrade a computer even if it has intergrated graphics; i have done it my self.
You can get low profile graphics cards but you may not need low profile, it looks like an ordinary size graphics card may fit. You may need to have a look inside where they have positioned the slot, sometimes there may only be enough room for a single slot graphics card; there could be components in the way.

Hello,
So you want the internet cable to go into your wireless router and you want to connect to the wired router via an ethernet cable which are connected to other network devices?
If so you will need to get the two routers talking to each other.
You have to make sure both routers are on the same network, eg 192.168.1.x and 192.168.1.y.
You also have to make sure that they don't have the same IP address, disable DHCP on the wired router (this should act as an access point and will not assign IP addresses) and if manually assigning an IP address make sure it is different to any other device, if you had a client pool of 100 you could set it to 100 (i doubt you have 98 other network devices).
Tell us the brands of the routers and ther model number if possible, there maybe easier or specfic steps to follow.

Hello,
Do you know how this will effect your warranty? By opening the case you may invalidate your warranty.
One of the simplest ways is to open the case and have a look what you have but this could invalidate your warranty.
You may want to try out your games without upgrading and if it isn't up to scratch and you don't want too lower the graphical settings then consider the graphics card. You will most likely have to get a low profile graphics card aswell. Most new computers come with PCI-Express slot(s).
Try this tool speccy to findout more information about your system. Post back with details.
