As I understand Ideally you should only have the server in the background assigning IPs, serving webpages and controlling traffic via an access point.
I think what you need internet going to a wireless access point which is connected to the internet. Wireless clients should connect to the access point which in a way is controlled by the server. A radius server would allow multiple users with their own password and username access via the access point.
Hello,
Are you after having the internet going to your server(wired) and communicating with the windows machine wireless to allow access to the internet?
Or are you trying to use ubuntu as a radius server with an access point so that wireless clients can join and connect to the network?
Hardly anyone's on IRC at the moment. Never used it myself, had to learn commands, maybe a short guide would help.
I'm using ChatZilla addon for firefox.
To join irc.daniweb.com in the client tab type:/server irc.daniweb.com
A new tab opens (irc.daniweb.com), type: /join #daniweb
Another tab opens, to talk simply type in the box and press enter.
Hello,
You should try to establish where the problem is. Try contacting your router when this problem happens, try pinging your router. Then try pinging outside of your network; google.com.
Who is your ISP? sometimes IP addresses aren't renewed correctly and you get given an invalid IP until you get a valid one, usually by resetting your router.
Have you another router to try?

Hello,
You should be able to test this yourself. Create a document in both and try in the other; just make sure you save the document as a word document.

Hello,
have you tried the laptop without the battery and just the mains plugged in?
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
Have you taken the laptop apart?
Maybe try just the motherboard with only the required components, if it doesn't work i'd say something is wrong with the motherboard; maybe inspect the motherboard for burnt out components scorch marks.
Did the user have the laptop on for prolonged periods of time?
Did they try HP support?
My HP laptop did something similar, I put some new thermal paste on the CPU and that solved the problem for a while but it didn't last; it may at least help diagnose the problem.

Hello,
What are you after doing?
There are lots of things out there related to computing, are you looking for XP specifics?
Usually you get tutorials for the software your running as opposed to XP; there is only so much an average user needs to know about their operating system(XP in your case).

Hello,
Can you login from your computer online?
http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live
You may need to setup another account; could try contacting them but support from Microsoft isn't fantastic(at least in my opinion). Irony is that some hack their Xbox to get past the ban.

Hello,
In disk manager did you right click on the partition > properties, type a name and click apply/ok?

Hello,
If the hard drive is in the boot list then you should be able to install XP on the hard drive and it will boot from that. Or is the problem that the hard drive is before the CD/DVD drive in the boot list?

Hello,
I had trouble with one of my Seagate drives before returning it, they asked me to use a disk diagnosis tool. Try Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS from western digital (check it is compatible with your type of drive). The tool I used from seagate maybe similar; It reported the size of the disk, and allowed me to alter the maximum readable size, perhaps yours has been limited to 750GB.

If I had to choose between 2000 and XP, XP would be the winner. If you have a XP or 2000 installation disc you could try running them in a virtual machine; depending on resources required.

Hello,
From What I understand you have an empty drive (G) and you want to install fedora to that. Fedora will not install on a NTFS partition. Try deleting the partition(G) and choose the appropriate file system; perhaps a guided installation for the space that is left.
Were this me performing the installation manually I would create an extended partition and have two partitions inside, 1 partition of ext3 and 1 swap partition (only a few GB). Use gedit to set up the partitions and select the correct ones during the OS installation.
- Let us know how it goes.
Hello,
You can only have up to 4 Primary partitions.
However if you create an extended partition you can create additional partitions inside it.
Now you should have three primary partitions, for the last partition create a extended partition in the free space then create further partitions inside that. You can use GParted, that is a reasonable partition editor.

I haven't used server much myself, do you know if you can install it whilst an operating system is running like XP? Perhaps if you try running the CD/DVD whilst XP is running.
You have check the correct device is selected for boot?
Have you tried installing when the disk has no partitions or FAT32?
Maybe have a look at this.

Hello,
You maybe able to image to working hard drive over to the one trying to be restored; you would have all the documents and settings of the person it belongs to though.
Perhaps see if you can use the recovery DVDs from the other machine on yours; it may not work as some manufacturers use a way of checking the hard drive is the same as the computer it belongs too. Usually there is a recovery creation tool on new laptops for restoring factory settings.
If not try looking in backup and restore for an option to create a disc image to restore the system.

Hello,
So you installed the graphics card. Removed the display cable from the onboard connection, attached it to the graphics card connection and the display doesn't come on?
Does the computer show any VGA BIOS information?
Hello,
Strange, did you create the partition then install the OS or did you let the installation disk create the partition?
Perhaps try using all the disk and resize after if possible.

Hello,
I am no virus expert so all I can suggest is to post this under the viruses, spyware and other nasties area; it may get more appropriate attention.
I could suggest getting a hold of a bootable CD/DVD that can remove the viruses; for example ubcd4win.
Hello,
We are assuming your laptop still recognised the disk.
Can you enter the BIOS and check if the hard drive is actually detected?
Did it come up with an error message saying no operating system was detected please insert a disk or did it attempt to boot from something else say network boot?
Hello,
I don't think there is any unique identifier for USB ports, there isn't a need for it. MAC addresses are used for effective communication. USB ports are usually for transfer of data in some way; the source and destination address is obvious, there is no need for the USB port to be unique.
Hello,
Have you tried deleting the partition and leaving as deleted?
Try deleting the partition so there is no file system set and then attempt the recovery; some recovery cd/dvds will create the partition.

my c drive capacity is 160gb
Are you the original poster? -Yuky?
Reply to post #1: You may have system restore points taking up space; you could remove ones not needed.
Hello,
This problem still seems to be happening...
It can be quite annoying when you've written a bit.
Just letting you know.
Hello,
Did you install the printer drivers?
What software were you using when you tried to print?
Did you select the correct printer when you tried to print? -were you asked to save a file?
Hello,
If the laptop is the same as yours I see no problem as far as installation wise. You should be able to change the key. Have a look on your laptop, press windows key+Pause/Break see if there is an option to change your product key.
You could try removing the viruses via a bootable cd, http://www.ubcd4win.com/.

Gerbil.
Thanks for reply.
It was my understanding that any removal had to be paid for on this particular system.
I will run it again, following your experience, to see how it goes.
I am sorry, but I did not understand the term MBAM and I would appreciate
clarification on that.
Afraid I am still a bit of a novice at technology.
Hello,
It's malwarebytes; malware removal software.
Full name: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
You can download the free version to see it that detects any malware.
- Let us know how it goes.
Torrents are legal it can be the content that isn't. For example you can download OpenOffice or a Linux Distro as a torrent.
Do the appropriate ports allow connections? You may need to configure your router to forward a port, this will weaken the security of your network though. I think you can test if your ports are correctly configured. Have a look here.

Hello,
Please start a new thread with your problem or question.
Hello,
Open command prompt; press windows key+ R.
Type cmd and press enter.
Once command prompt is open type J:.
You should now be able to view the contents of the external hard drive by typing dir; it will show the directories and files stored on the hard drive.
let us know if you can do the above.
Something else to try;
Right click on the desktop then click on new > shortcut. When asked type J: for the location and press next or OK. Once to shortcut has been created click on it and see what happens. Le us know if this opened the disk contents in explorer.
You could also try typing J: in explorer's address bar.
- let us know the outcomes of the above.
Hello,
What happens when you click on the external drive icon in my computer?
Are you sure you have folders in the external drive?
Have you had this problem before are have you just got it?

Hello,
Your going to use your old optical drive(s) too?
Will you be overclocking your system?
Will you be using RAID to speed up your system?
You seem to have enough power; have a look at Antec Power Supply Calculator.

Hello,
If you can't get your system to detect the drive I don't think there is much you can do. You may have been able to get data off it if it was recognised but I think your going to have to get a replacement.
Have you no backups?
You could try a data recovery company but they usually have a steep price tag.
The company called Periform mada free products. One is called "Deflaggler".
Go to Ccleaner.com and look for deflaggler link. While your at it, get
the Ccleaner program as well. Will fix a lot of issues.
I use Defraggler and have not had any problems. Defrag programs do slow your system a little but its worth it. Defraggler help.

Hello,
Best option is to change the password for the email service; Check again for malware. If this happens regularly shut down the machine before the emails are usually sent, if emails are still sent then someone is probably accessing the account on another machine.
- Let us know how it goes.
Maybe, But it would be better if the pictures would scale down to stay in the post box or push the ads more over to the right to compensate.
It would be better, but I am sure I can cope if you leave it.
Hello,
Can her email account be accessed on the internet?
Is it Webmail?
If she can, change the password, someone my have the password for this account.
HINT: have a look at the time email was sent, if the computer which she's on is not switched on that would suggest that someone is using the account on another computer.

Hello,
I would also avoid using windows based RAID. You are better off with a dedicated card as mentioned in the previous post.
Your budget will also effect which card you go for; cheaper ones are usually software based so it still uses your CPU, but is better than windows one. The Hardware based ones are much better but are usually more expensive.
I would definitely get a RAID controller card if you are using a server.

I viewed it under 1024 x 768 but also on 1280 x 1024. It's okay on a higher resolution in full screen but if you view it in a smaller browser window it is the same as above.
Hello,
Try running RAM at 1333MHz instead; if your problem persist perhaps it is something else, otherwise you know what the problem is.
I believe that three pin slot above the PCI slots is for a case fan, you shouldn't need to connect anything to it.

Hello,
I have noticed that some images in posts spill over the side like this;
I have seen this happen before but noticed again recently.
Just letting you know.
Just letting you know another ad is acting the same again.
Hello,
Almost any recent graphics card would be better than what you already have; putting a graphics card in is quite similar to what you say you have done already.
However run the system checker here. According to your specs your may only just meet some minimum system requirements. Get a graphics card that is of better specification than they ask.
Things to consider about graphics cards;
