Dont think so. Tried it on a dell but most recovery partitions and CDs seem tied to the hard disk (by serial number i presume)

Dont know about the log but Outlook etc... are set to check for new emails every x (usually 10) minutes, and are probably triggering the email scanner

6.06 is the LTS version right? Just so people know, the LTS one is supported until like 2012 or something whereas the standard ones get updated every year (newest is 7.04).

You might need to hit F6 and stick in a floppy with your SATA driver. Make sure you chose "Format NTFS (full)" NOT "Quick Format" or else it wont repair errors

On some of the dells you cant replace the poer supply or motherboard as they are custom , also dells have a very limited power supply wattage

Common sense is key. 99% of viruses/spyware are caused by peoples stupidity e.g downloading "updates" (Viruses really) from emails supposedly from Microsoft or clicking official looking popups
