I personally will give it a few years to see the iPad effect really blossom.
I recommend to check out Gold Lasso, Bronto, and Constant Contact for email management. I also recommend you to become familiar with CAN-SPAM rules.
Thanks for re-inforcing this message about SEO and internet marketing. I think us, Internet Marketers, recognize the need and importance of SEO and how it can not only drive traffic to the site but increase conversion.
Pay per install - that reminds me of widgets.
But it seems that everyone is so enthusiastic about the iPad - I would not be surprised that with this fervert fever, the # of iPads will influence the optimization of visitors to those sites.
I know that it ost money to create a banner, advertise it in a site, and put it in a network, like DART or Pointroll.
So I wonder what is the second site we check? Gmail? And the other question is: why do we check Facebook in the first place?
So of course, some people at work showed off their new toy - the Ipad. The Ipad seems like a big toy but the way it helps with banner advertising and reading was good. So saying that, there was some conversation that the iPad will affect, not the creation, but the execution of marketing programs. So what do you think?
I thought it was supposed to change as per the news last week but I just beame a Fan of "I like Earl". Go figure.
Since the IPad will only operate using Safari and wont support Flash, do you think you will optimize your site to become iPad friendly?
The majority of advertisers use an ad network like Dart/Doubleclick but I prefer Pointroll for rich media. So can someone in this board share their experience with Dart or ATLAS?
Not too long ago, many businesses were jumping into creating a Twitter presence. I dont hear much of that now. So my question for you are:
1. Do you think its over rated?
2. Is Twitter "old" now?
3. Did businesses gained ROI with Twitter?
As you see, I misspelled check since caffeine is not yet in my system. :-)
There was a sutdy published that found that the majority of people check their Facebook first thing in the morning. Maybe I am guilty of such but I wonder who else on this site al so agrees with the finding of this study.
PPC may provide very beneficial depending on the keyword however you have to be careful that you dont use up your allocated amount with general keywords rather than keywords that reflect consumers closer to the buying funnel.
You may have to consider offline marketing as well. At my church's bulletin, I see ads for online dating sites all of the time. So you may consider advertising at local churches' bulletin as well.
So we know that today was the big day where the IPad was launched. There was a positive review in WSJ - All Things Digital. http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20100331/apple-ipad-review/
I personally waiting until the second launch or so when many of the first generation bugs are resolved. So did you get an iPad and what do you think?
I actually use social media in a different way. I used social media as a way to monitor conversations about a particular topic and monitor trends in the conversations and sentiments.
I agree with you Jenny. Google will find a way to expand Buzz for the business user. Let's give it a year or two.
I agree with you. I do think that these services not only provide additional information about you and your whereabouts, but it will also be information that can be used by advertisers for relaly atargeted behavioral targeting. I also can see a smart stalker using such information to haunt somebody or a criminals sewing up crumbs of information for their malicious purposes. Something to think about.
Backlinks are important but you have to make sure that these backlinks dont have poor Pagerank nor those sites you backlink with are blacklisted. Google will penalize your site if its parked in the wrong site.
I agree. Article submissions about your site is a good way - you just have to make sure that the content for each article is fresh and that you dont just copy and paste. Goodle will actually penalize replications.
It all depends where your intended audience is at. If you are targeting a small niche that may not particularly visit Twitter, you need to find where they are and interact with them, either through some social media outreach or advertising.
I like how the techies use freeware to increase communication and awareness. If you think about the genesis of the Internet, it was created to so technology an facilitate communication.
Major companies have affiliate programs. You should consider checking those programs out like Amazon.com. It can start by having a widget on your blog with their site. Also check out - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affiliate_marketing
So this new change reminds me of the ways Myspae had it - where a business created a profile and you can see it as a friend rather than a sub page instead. I will re-visit this topic in a month or two and monitor what changes or effects it has done.
Black links are important if the links have relevant content to your site. If not, then it may not be beneficial and may atually hurt your site, especially if its to a site with a low PageRank. You have ot be very careful about this.
Thanks for sharing the links. I just wonder what is the catch. Nothing in life is free.
If you are running a PPC campaign and are experiencing this problem, you have to look at:
1. the rank of your keywords
2. you have to conduct search using Google Keyword search terms and find the relevant keywords for your site
3. you need to reinforce those keywords and the content displayed with your PPC ad with what they are looking for.
I discovered they dont have one yet... but I would not be surprised they will soon.
So it seems that social media for business promotion is here to stay and it wont be just a fad. I remember a time when businesses were hesitant to get into social media, but now all the businesses are jumping into it.
I read that Facebook has changed their "Become a Fan" button to "I like" button - so my question for the members of this board are:
1. Will this affect how you promote your Face book Fan Page?
2. Do you think this will help increase Fans?
I had a conversation with a colleague who insists that Google has a free social media monitoring tool. Is it Caffeine or Buzz? I think its Buzz but the person meant that this tool can be used for business use like Radian6 or BuzzLogic. If you know the answer, please post.
The iPad is supposedly already sold-out and it has not even hit the market yet. I am looking forward seeing the long line of hardcore fans on grand opening day.
Well, very good question. Here are some tips:
1. Follow Google's SEO tips - http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35291
2. Don't do any Black Hat tactics - it will cause Google to penalize your site and never list it. You DONT want that. http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread201598-2.html
3. Ensure you constantly update your site with fresh and relevant content
Thanks for bringing this very important issue up. Nowadays, many social sites broadcast and capitilize on a user's email address book - making it viral but also capturing any associated information along with it. Social networks have shaved away the important concept of privacy but it can come back and haunt you when your social moments (even wrong ones) can be used against you in professional settings.
Very much agree with you. It depends what is your goal in joining these networks to begin with.
Building a community takes time. I have tried to create a few and I realized that your site needs to be fostering some element that members want to come back and participate.
My dear, widget is a free standing code based digital object that can be operated. I do believe you will benefit tremendously by perusing this site with all your questions by doing a search. Daniweb.com has a wealth of insights in its archive to answer your questions.
I totally agree with you Jenn. I also recommend that the first post poses a question or inquiry rather than be a testimonial for some product with a link that might be seen as self promotional.
Let say how long Google Buzz will be around before it gets canceled or revamped.
So I say SEO with constant attention to content and link building is best. Always remember to keep it white hat because black hat will bite you one day....
There are two points here:
1. Free trial vs. free software
Free trial allows users to test drive it but it also allows companies to build a loyal base. I do wonder what is the conversion rate of people who download the software and eventually buy it.
2. Free software - yes, I am totally like you - I dont trust it because we know in this life, nothing is free. Google provides free Office to promote longer stay on Google, more data on users (God only knows for what), and more people who will view more ads once they get back to gmail.
It depends what you are planning to use your ESP for - just simple email list reminders or behavioral targeting. I recommend:
1. Low end
a. constant contact
b. emma
2. high end
a. bronto
b. gold lasso
So whats the verdict?
I personally use both but for different degrees. But in today's world, there is an intermeshing of information on both so you have to be mindful of the information you share and who you accept as a friend. I have a few co-workers as Facebook Friends but I dont think they can see much since I restricted settings.
Thanks Canada Fred for confirming my suspicions.
You may also want to consider affliate marketing to plug your freeware/shareware if its appeals a big consumer group.
I personally was in a similar dilema some time ago. I concluded that:
1. For some reason, you hardly find any .me or .us domains/sites on SERPs
2. search engine crawlers may not crawl as often on .me or .us sites (can someone please confirm this for me).
3. you really have to plug your site as .me. If you are relying just on SERP, I would re-consider unless you have a SEM campaign in place.
Hi
I just subscribed to Time Warner Triple Play that uses Road Runner. So I bought Apple Time Capsule to hook it up with my MacBook Pro.
It is not working. I do see I have full Airport connection but I have an error stating it is not recognizing IP address. So have you experienced this? Should I say Im connecting via Ethernet or PPoe (something like that)?
