the scan its trying to run on bootup is chkdsk try booting to a winxp cd and go R for recovery and rung the chkdsk /f command there !

well if the mouse is on the screen then it booted ,just with problems ! can you do alt+ctrl+del and bring up windows task manager when you are that far! ,or on boot up hit f8 to see if you get safe mode option

why not just copy and paste the files to where windows wants to look for them .ie:C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents. and you did a windows repair install ,not a system restore!
