Hi giving that it will not access internet you will need to download this stuff from your computer ,don't forget to get the updates ,install malwarebytes first then before you run it ,click on the update to install it

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Download the update from here if you have problems.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.

Make sure that you restart the computer.

type this into start/ run "compmgmt.msc " with out the "quotes.
then in the left pane go to disk management and try formatting it there

Yup i had the same problem, i thnk some pieces are defective,

mine's is a hp dv5 1040

luckily its still in waranty, it started blacking out,

it randomly blacks out,

so sending it to service centre, they'd hv to replace it, bt i gues i'd lose all my settings and files and stuff, pro's and cons of service center i guess

if they are only replacing lcd ,why should you loose any data on the harddrive

i think you already know its dead ,maybe hook an external monitor to it to make sure that it's the screen and not the video adapter ,
then if that works you need to replace the lcd in the laptop ,take it to a computer shop to be sure

yeah i hear you ,but this call should be to support tech,to set up a email acct ,that is free with your paid internet subscription ,at lease it is here in Canada.

now you know why they charge the 100$, chances are if your computer cant read the drive ,no software out there is going to help you back it up, try removing it from the case and putting it into a computer tower[as a slave if it ide ] and see if you can access file that way

I am new on here and can somebody help. I am having trouble as I can not right click on Internet explorer web pages, I can right click anywhere else and I can right click on Firefox so it must be a internet explorer option.

its not likely an option ,i have ie8 and can right click i its a default setting ,maybe a reinstall of ie8 will fix it ,make sure to download latest ie8 ,

call you ISP and they will gladly/freely talk you through setting up the email ,at least here in Canada they do !and they will help you with password and user name

if you are only talking admin password ,you f computer might have has 2 admin acct ,try safe mode ,hit f8 on boot up, see if you can get in there and remove password in users ,control panel,

if this is same model as yours its pci-e. the picture you posted tell me you need a new camera too.lol, kind of blurry ,the small brown slot above the pci slot has something to with it ,its only pci-e 1 though it think

nothing hard about that ,just go to control panel ,create the new accts ,open each one and go to C:\Documents and Settings\username, them open the folder where there files are and drag and drop the files ,to C:\Documents and Settings\username ! how hard is that

I really dont believe there is a virus..

did you do a full scan with your antivirus program and anti/trojan malware tool like www.malwarebytes.org

I did a reinstall of win xp media after backing up files with Ghost.
Now all the user accounts and data are listed in explorer.
Can someone please tell me how to make user profiles for these existing accounts? I would like them to appear on the logon screen.

if you only backed up files and did not chost the whole drive ,then i think all you need to do is create new acct for each user in control panel and move said file to each new users mydocument folder via explorer

hi, you title is misleading"reinstall help" you are actually looking for software recommendations ! I will suggest just 3 good free programs,and leave the rest to others who wish to add to the list of many good ones .I will suggest buying a full version anti virus/spyware/firewall complete program ,
1=spywareblaster
2=malwarebytes
3=Ccleaner

I guess that is caused by a very vicious virus...
Try virus scanner stuffs...

they did this allredy .
I ran a boot using avast, and ran all of my standard malware stuff-- ad aware, spybot and malawarebyte.

I boot my PC, windows loads up, I type my login and password. After a while it shows desktop without any icons (just a wallpaper) also there is no taskbar. It stays this way 4ever. Happens also in safe mode and VGA mode

try alt+ctrl+del when task manager opens ,go to processes and if you see EXPLORER.EXE click on it and end process ,then go to file ,new task ,and type in explorer.exe click OK

I downloaded Comodo and so far so good. One thing I didn't like was that you're expected to restart after updating the virus data base which could be pretty often..... but, guess I'll put up with it for now. I think its a 30 day trial .I loaded Avast [free version ]awhile back and it just notified me i have 21 days left to buy it .
I install Rising antiviri free the other day on a computer and it prompted to restart after the install ,and sent the computer into a restart loop, that i havd to fix by using a linux live cd to get into my hdd and delete the Rising folder !

hi,this is a thread and you created it ,you will need to install drivers for your sound device,if the device is onbord you will need to get drivers from the motherboard manufacture ,if it a pci add in card get it from card maker's website
I have onboard sound, the drivers for it are on the motherboard cd that came with my computer !
I added a pci Soundblaster card the drivers for it are on a cd that came with the card .

Any way to turn off that annoying music when a new message arrives :@ I have already unchecked the items in Play A Sound when new message arrives, but the music still persists.

beat it with a hammer! no that not it ,you make sure its hooked up correctly and turn on the computer ,you need to tell us more also ,Is it a SATA harddrive ,did you boot to a windows cd and try formatting and loading windows to it ! id its SATA and you have winxp ,you will need a flopy drive in the computer to install sata drivers for it to see it ,if no floppy drive, then you will need to slipstream the sata drivers into a new windows disk with a program like Nlite
