are the drivers install ,dose wifi show in device manager ,do you get the option to chose a connection ,is there a switch on the laptop to turn on and off wifi!some have them !

and if you have ms office installed all ready do install the uninstaller ,as it will uninstall the uninstaller, allready installed if you have msofice .lol

I think it see that it was installed before and is looking for the created setup.ini,when it was last installed and can't find it ,because the program was un-installed improperly .

did you try using the winxp burning utility .if you have the songs in a folder ,right click on the file and chose ,send to, and then chose the burner from the list ,and this will start the process to burn the disk, do this with the amount of songs you want on the disk ,this will put a icon down by the clock ,click that and chose to burn the disk in the left panel .

in task manager run ,the command , explorer.exe

did you format the drive or are you just doing a repair install of winxp .if it a repair install ,i suggest you format the drive,and reload winxp .if you have stuff on the drive you need then slave it to another computer to save important documents first though .

Windows cannot start because the following files are missing or corrupt:

there is a fix for this ,but in my opinion the easies fix is to reinstall windows .

IMAPI wasn't on. Unfortunately, turning it on manually didn't change the result--still burning the CD-R halfway before spitting it out with the error message. :-(

did you try the 32bit driver in the link i posted above .
also do you have any cd brning software on you computer to try besides media player software that can burn cd ,as they aren't reliable as cd burners in my opinion

memory bank is referring to the slot on the motherboard that holds the stick of memory know as ram ,usually at least 2 memory banks on a motherboard ,and usually best if you only have one stick of ram that you put it in bank0,and not bank1,that is usually how they are numbered starting with 0 then 1,2,3 .most banks i've seen on a motherboard is 4 but some have 2 and 3 ,and ram stands for random access memory.have a look here .when searching put motherboard in the search with memory bank.

hello,did you install thermal past to cpu,it could be that its running hot ,so the fan stays on high ,im looking through the manual for t hat board but see nothing in the bios about control .did you install the mother board driver from the disk after you install windows .did you go into the power options in windows to check settings and make any changes to power options

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete, Process Tab, end all explorer.exe and iexplore.exe processes.

Type regedit in File - Run

Delete these three keys.

my dad decided to restart the compy... completely f***ed up... cant start, took it to circut city and various local computer genuises and from what they tell me its f****d they say its happened once before to some unfrotunate soul...they say whatever virus it was completely wiped out the entire hard drive

i installed and unistalled Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate 2 Refresh for causing errors but then when unistalled it and it started to download again through windows update. How do i stop that and i do i remove it from windows update ?

your first mistake was to load a BETA version of sp3 on a computer you cared about !Beta is for test purpose only and never recommended you install beta on anything but a test computer. you can uninstall it in add and remove programs in the control panel i think ,im sure i did that just last week ,but i could have just reloaded winxp cant remember now !.

for music and video it is what i use,but i don't do a lot of playing video and music,so it will do !! ,but i don't use it to burn music or any other data ,,I been using Nero and Alcohol 120% for burning 9 or 10 yrs now .

also i just checked [ i use 11 but only to view video and play music ]you have to right click on the top bar and go to help

with only 248 megs of ram it wouldn't matter what you are trying to do you will get this error ,with such a small amount of ram ,and a windows default setting of virtual ram ,you are going to get this error message .anyway quick fix is adding more ram ,and I will assume its DDR SDRAM and not DDR2 ,and I will not suggest you buy a new computer but, definitely add some more ram at least another 512 stick.Im in Canada but ,i buy ddr sdram 512 for $23.00 canadian from here, http://www.bitsmore.com/ cheaper than a new computer ,maybe not as fast, but my 3 yr old computer does me just fine . ,

So maybe file ~ is my Personal Settings?? What would it be labelled with normally - perhaps if I could rename it it might just work??

it not the name you need to change but the files extension you need to know ,that comes after the ~ ,like ~.exe or .txt ,that maybe hidden ,i think this file is a backup of sorts.open mycomputer go to/tools /folder options/view ,and uncheck ,hide extension for known file types,this should give you a extension on the file now ,google search the extension ,like .bak or what ever it is

Have been working on a system, XP home editon removing a virus and now the system tray or lower task bar has gone. I have removed this same virus from other systems with no probs. I think I have deleted a file in system32 ? maybe.

Any ideas would be appreciated.
