you don't seem to be following out suggestions very well as all the things you are being ask to fix and delete are still showing up in the new log .

First thing to try is to uninstall them and let windows reload the drivers for them ,to do this ,right click on mycomputer/go to properties/hardware/device manager / now click on the + next to DVD/cdrom ,then right click and choose uninstall both that are listed ,and then reboot computer ,windows will find new hardware and reinstall drivers for each drive ,then try them and see what happens ,good luck

You don't say what OS you are using but i will assume xp for now .
right click on your desktop/properties/settings/advanced /adapter ,look for memory size .almost the same for win98,
Onboard video uses you systems ram so you could right click on mycomputer /properties ,and you will see info on you processor and amount of ram ,if you know how much ram is in your computer then subtract the amount showing from the amount in you computer ,and that will be the amount of ram being used for video .
It will also tell you in the Bios but i won't go into that .

i once had this happend with a older computer repaired i reloaded and it was the keyboard .!
i would check the front panel connection to the board .

a bad flash is fixable, you would need to buy a new bios chip with the correct Data on it for that board !!don't know were you would buy one !!

Im not sure but by the look of the specs ,you should have but the money for the hd into a good used motherboard and processor ,to speed it up a bit ,Flashing is a last resort as it is dangerous!
I still think you need to hit f2 and enter the bios and auto detect hard drive ,and ,save changes and exit then using a windows boot disk ,boot to the a:\ prompt and format C: and then put in the win98 disk and run setup.
I wouldn't reccomending installing XP on a 200mmx with 64 megs of ram .

Iv recently acquired a EMPREX single layer 8X DVD burner. Not the greatest of makes i know. The problem is whenever i try and burn certain files it comes up with an error message as if it cant find the file its trying to burn. The files in questions are thousands of photo's, i have looked through them and found that for a few files, although windows sees the file, it wont open it, as if it is corrupt, and i wonder if this is the problem, is there any way to get rid of these corrupt files?

I doubt if the burner cares if the any of the picture files are corrupt,what burning software and what type/format of blank dvd are you trying to use .
Also if the picture files on you harddrive are corrupt just right click on the file in question and delete it .

isn't it the motherboard that dictates where the case front panel wires go!

Hi folks, perhaps some of you may be of help. My son was trying to uninstall a program (game ) from his cpu. He's using windows xp and gets a pop up could not open INSTALL.LOG file. He also has the Adaware free program installed Ive tryied to seach for INSTALL.LOG file manualy and no results. I've looked for it under program files and can find it as well.
Ive even tried unistal wise and nothing. What do I need to do? and please try to keep it simple

The install log is for the game ,try reinstalling the game ,then go to add and remove program and try uninstall it again .

I think because you are dealing with an older machine ,you may need to go into the bios and do a hard drive auto detect .and i also doubt that the bios will recognize the it as and 80gig with out flashing the bios .
4 gig is enought for internet and XP is a bit much for just interneting so just reinstall 98/ME back on the 4gig .

Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Since Temporary folders are emptied now and then (the files are DELETED), it would not be a good idea to have your backups there. Those backups would be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST the new log in this thread using 'Add Reply' That is after you run the programs in my next post !!!!

Also, I did clear out the TEMP folder, and HJT still crashes when it scans. Also, I have Spybot S&D and it also crashed when i tried to fix the problems it had detected...

I have discovered what Gates did (Nov 2004, his fix called SP2) to stop all applications like QBASIC working.

What he did is deleted autoexec.nt

Replace it and those DOS programs he sabotaged now work fine again, and it is so easy to do:

What you put in it hardly matters. What matters is SOMETNG is there, and he deleted it!

So do this:
Launch Notepad (or Wordpad) and on the screen it provides, type in

@ECHO OFF

followed by pressing Enter (carriage return)

Then save this as file c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt.

On Notepad you may need to put the filename in quotes – or it may save your @ECHO OFF as a file called Autoexec.nt.txt

If you do this and it still does not work, reopen autoexec.nt and add the following lines:

The log looks ok ,but instead of buying a new drive why not just format it and reload windows .

blank CDs' come in R and RW

I do have a CD/DVD drive but really don't know the difference between the CD-R and CD+R. That's why I'll stick with the jump drive.

the way you write that it looks to me like a CD Burner , DVD player combo ,not a DVD burner ,so you wouldn't have to worry about DVD blank disk formats .

.Once I download it, do I need any info as to how to use it?

I have many invoices created using the business software SAGE.

I can set up a report to view all people I have sold product number 0001 to.

I can also view a Products page, which lists all my products, with their details.

However, I want, on this Products page, to be able to click something that generates a report showing all customers that have bought that product.

So, basically, using the reports wizard, I can set up a report showing every customer I have sold product 0001 to. However, I want to have that product code as a variable, so I can create a similiar report based on whatever product I select, and then click a button or something.

Is this possible?

Hi! I have what I believe is a simple question but I can't seem to figure out how to do it: I added the Mozilla browser to my computer because I'd heard it is more secure (and boy is it!) :eek: . However, now, I often cannot access some sites. Mozilla is set as my default browser and I don't know how to change it back to Internet Explorer. Can anyone tell me how to set Internet Explorer as my default browser? Thanks for all your help! :)

I had this same type of prob. your info got me on the right track. I was able to use your info and figure out what I needed to do in my situation. I used Google popup stopper all the time until i loaded sp2 ,but still use the google tool bar for search,I recomend it highly

when you boot the computer you should see for a few seconds a option to enter the BIOS by hitting DEL,key or it could be f1 mbut usually DEL key ,when in there you should see a list of options ,one beind set bios defaults ,click it and hiy y for yes then go to save seting and exit ,this will load the bios defaults ,and may fix the miss read of the cpu and ram .the only thing is it will replace ant bios tweeks made by you ,seeing as you don't know how to do this that shouldn't be a problem .

Personally i believe there is spyware /trojan causing the problem ,I would suggest goint ot the security section and posting a hijackthis log .

try /IE/Tools/advanced/scroll down to multimedia,and make sure that show images is checked off ,also it could be related to security settings ,some sites have images on them that are linked to from other sites.that are considered bad .

what about checking in Run/msconfig /startup ,to see if something media player releated in the

My PC at work and this one (before I reformatted and reloaded last time) had a 'normal' display width, now this time 'a lot' of sites are coming up too wide to display the entire width of text without having to scroll across to read the rest of the line... almost like 'notepad' with no wordwrap. Not quite as bad as note pad with out word wrap, but just about that bad. The 'number of charcters wide' is set too high. like instead of 80 its set to 120...This is a pain.

Text size does change things but doesn't help, by the time I get it small enough to fit its too small to read...

Where can this be adjusted?

if you bring up the task manager it will should show you what program or programs are using the CPU ,check the attached picture ,you will see mine ,and the system idel is a 97% withch is allright ,because i not using anything besides snaget and explorer .

also scan with hijackthis and post a log for the hell of it .we'll have something to look at .
