to boot to windows it should be booting to #2, you can go into the bios and disable the floppy drive if the computer doesn't have one.to boot from a windows cd to reinstall windows the first boot device should be set to #4

the only time i have ever seen the certificate error was on a few computer with the incorrect date and time set on it .

yeah it comes with the games .its a Macrovision driver, sp3 has the fix in it so only an issue if you are using sp2 not patched

how about a can of compressed air and blow out the cooling system

never heard of it ,its not on my win7,nor was it ever on my winxp machines .

I guess she meant she doesn't have a antivirus at all...anyways midsister if you need to change the screen resolution to something higher....

You can go to desktop properties > setting > then change the resolution by sliding the low to high slider(800 by 600 or 1024 by 768 pixels should be enough).
Don't press OK or Apply...but instead click on Advanced and click Ok on the advanced screen.This should ask you for confirmation,press ok,and then press ok again in the desktop properties screen.

Now the screen resolution must have changed,and now you can install with ease whatever you were trying to,and well like caperjack says.....you need to do a antivirus check of your computer,the virus section of daniweb will help you out there....good luck :)

if you read first post ,they are running in safe mode and should no be able to set that high resolution in safe mode !!

I have no antivirus program and when in safe mode.. the screen is too big for me to get tothe bottem to click on install or ok.

antivirus doesn't start in safe mode ,so it normal not to have one!
the screen is to big because you video device is not running ,only running in vga mode ,no programs running in normal mode is almost always caused by a trojan/virus ,so you will have to fix that to get you computer running correctly ,you might check out the virus section of daniweb for help with removing the infection

I have tried putting in Windows Vista Cd and 2 windows 7 Cds but it just fails to read them. The CDs are perfectly fine as they load up nicely in another computer and I don't think my drive is bad because every other CD be it game, .

hi, are you saying it won't boot to a windows cd or are you saying it will not even read the cd wile you are working in windows ,like if you put in a winddows cd and go to mycompyter/computer and right click on the cd rom icon and click open or explore that it will not open the cd so you can see the files on it .
if you are only saying it will not boot the windows cd ,then you need to go into the bios on bootup and change the cd drive to be the first boot

no the colors will not all be together ,for one ,system files are not defragged ,therefor they would be in different location

a few hrs isn't long for defrag ,,also it would depend on the size of the drive and how bad its defragemented.

i have yet defr4ag my 320 gig ,running win7 since last november ,started to do defrag last week and its 0% fragemented

hi, you don't tell us why you cant boot to a windows cd ,did you set cdrom as first boot in the bios setup, oh and you also didn't tell us the make and model of you computer and a little about its hardware ,motherboard /ram/ hdd ect ect

Ours it doing that too. Our power went out late lastnight and now it goes to the Start Windows Normally, safe mode and all that junk and none of them work, it gets to the windows logo screen and reboots back to that one.

hi,this is the time to boot to your windows cd and go to recovery console and type "chkdsk /r" without the "" to fix you windows install so it will boot again

On startup a message appears saying something about memory!!

i would suggest trying f8 on bootup and try getting into safe mode to uninstall the driver you installed,rarely do you need to install a cd-rom driver.
