installing some burning software that creates a virtual cd drive can cause it ,,like alcohol 120% ,but one would think that that would be in the cdrom section

tecra8000 machine when switched green led lights up but displays nothing.Often display appears but it is vary rare.I am a technician working at component level and wish to repair the machine.
Info:-voltage on pin of L820 is approx;4.5V when machine is dead.When display appears voltage is approx.6,8v.
In order to repair at component level I need schematic diagram of mother board.i'd b grateful if some1 kindly helps me.

search the model # of each board in www.google.com you should find some reviews of the board and you should be able to narrow it down year based on when the review was done

sorry, really hard to help from this distance when I cant see whats on your screen when you are booting ,and none of my laptops are HP, and the 3 i have all use a different F key to do what your F8 does .

I decided to goddamn my existing Acer aspire 5572awxmi laptop and would buy a new Dell laptop.

not only are laptops different than PC, PC' are different than other PC's you really need to make sure you have correct drivers for each different model ,right click on mycomputer and /proprerties/hardware /device manager and you will see if all drivers are install correctly for each device

why not just disable standby,
I owned a computer for about 12 yrs now and have never seen the need to use standby mode ,actually disable it on ever computer i own or have owned ,and most of the ones i fix/build for others ,just don't see the point ,i have never had a computer of mine die because it was on to much ,they usually run from morning to night .is it just to save money on your power/hydro bill

hard to say from a distance ,really should be looked at hands on by someone with experience in laptops if you want a definitive answer

hi ,really good questions,as for Carbonite ,i search shows me it cost 50$ a year to back up data on line ,so you should deal with them on that ,and maybe somewhere in the myangel program it will give you options to delete the older backup

i think you could just make a image of the drive for when you need to reinstall windows ,and just backup created data on a storage drive ,don't see the need of creating image all the time . fail to see the need for weekly image update

I bought a new laptop which came with windows 7 pre-installed.
I am supposed to have a 500GB HDD space, but when i view "Computer" which also displays the available size, it says i have 11GB of 40 GB left! but i have a 500GB hard drive.

when i switched on the machine i had to press F2 so that windows as well as the hardware could be configured, the laptop has a hitachi drive, i remember i could either choose to partition the drives or not, i chose not to, could that be the problem, do i have to re-configure the machine to show me the correct hdd space?

hi right clik on myomputer lick manage then go to disk manager , look for unpartitioned /unaloated harddrive ,its posiable you may need to format the ret of the drive to create a 2nd partition , thi ite might help a bit with finding the space

Unless I missed something, all that needs to be done is right click the drive, select "Properties", click the "Security" tab, click on "Advanced" click on "Owner" and change/modify the settings. The drive does not have to be open for that.

reason i sad above ,was i didn't get the security tab on my winxp laptop ,but is is xp home and not pro ,if that matters . i only get the security and advanced on my win7 and vista but not xp .machine

If not, there is NTFS4DOS that can be added to that win98 CD.

I made one such CD myself :)
Ironically, one has to make bootable floppy with CD support and use that floppy as boot image for CD, otherwise, the system would boot from CD while not being able to access it.

not sure the details of how way back when i made it ,but i know it still boots for me .but of course i haven't loaded win98 in a few yrs

I recently accessed my recovery partition using a win98 boot cd, [lucky for me i have one ,not everyone does] if you have a floppy drive in the laptop you could get win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com, what i did a long time back was used the boot floppy file and nero to created a bootcd .i had to unpack the win98 bootdisk file to a floppy first ,then copied them to a folder and then used nero to create a bottable disk.
98 should see the partition because they are usually in fat32 format .

your right it doesn't ,but to the best of my knowledge ,ping is a network troubleshooting command to use to see if you can connect to a network ,has no other purpose ,i don't think, so yours' is working ,just not pinging ,so no harm no foul,
maybe a firewall issue .you could disable firewall just to try a ping

until I tried to repair some XP problems with my Win XP install CD, when I got stuck on a screen with a message saying, ...no HDD,...press F3 to cancel

you got this message because winxp has no sata drivers in it so it did not recognize the sata drive ,options are a setting in the bios[to emulate sata ] or slipstream sata drivers into a copy of winxp

if you open mycomputer and go to C:\Windows\Media you will see them all ,they are windows file like i said before ,for windows sound schemes , they were likely there because you told wmp to search your harddrive for music files ,thats the only way they would have gotten there .

They are single items of only around 23 - 39kb which say under 'type' as MID and named as flourish, onestop and town.

ok so they are small midi fle ,likely used by other programs on the computer , wmp may have scaned computter for all file types ,do a start /search for one and see where it loated.

edit ,just searhed my winxp for Floorish and it has it and it in c:/windows/media,so im guessing its used by windows sounds schemes

unknown items which have appeared in my Windows Media player

i have a problem understanding this ,a wmp is only a player ,how can it actually have anything in it !they must be some where else on the computer ,please explain the unknown items

the answer is simple my friend you have a switch that turns on the wifi from on the netbook if you dont see it type in the model on another computer andd locate the switch to turn it on..usually itsa on the front for Dell models i havent seen on on the side of it though or near the on off switch there too

and it also can be turned off in the bios on some laptops
