Hello, am currently facing an issue with my computer. As soon as I switch on, my fans (CPU and Chassis) go into "overdrive", and there is no hard disk light except that it lights up for about 1 second and then goes blank. My power light remains on thou, but nothing is shown on my screen at any point in time (no message to enter BIOS etc), with the monitor power light blinking green.
Anyone with previous experience can help me troubleshoot where the problem lies? Unfortunately I do not have any spare materials to test my system by replacing the current parts.

As the name suggests it is still not yet the final version, so I would suggest also a VM environment to deploy it for test purposes

check in task manager under the Processes tab, if you have vmware.exe32, vmware-tray.exe32 and any other vmware related processes running, you need to close them first before uninstalling.
If still not able to uninstall, then try a tool like revo uninstaller or IObit uninstaller to see what happens. Usually thou, after closing all processes and restarting the computer, the uninstall should just go fine.

Am finally scraping the XP to a Win 7 OS, the problem of 2 exes being present despite the option of launching folders in separate processes being unchecked and system tray not loading properly forced me to take this step. However I agree with gerbil, only 2 explorer.exes are created when the folders are allowed to open in separate processes, checked on a Win 7 machine :)

I checked the folder options as well whether they are spawning a separate process when being opened, but the option was unchecked

like Hearth said, use WAMP it easily installs itself on Windows systems for PHP programming and running of websites, else if you are using ASP then IIS is recommended (in-built in Windows, need to be enabled thou). Else, you can use a LAMP virtual machine to do the hosting (it will have to run from your physical machine however), and it will have its own IP address to be accessed.

I need something like this so that can share the codes as well with my colleagues when required, and also help me easily keep track of all bits of code I've stored. I think a tool which has a DB could help me with this, so just copy paste the code in the tool's editor, and save it for example as "css code for rounded corners" and it will automatically add it to a tree-hierarchy, and save it at the same time in a DB. Am still waiting for an app BTW :)

In fact the problem am getting is that when 2 explorer.exe are running when I load Windows, my local area connection icon and some other icons are not loaded in system tray, I need to close both exes and run explorer.exe again to get them back

In fact the VM was a pre-built one, I just extracted it and opened with VMWare Workstation 8. It is a server version, so I don't think it has the System -> Preferences displayed as such. I did try set the date and time again using dpkg-reconfigure tzdata, as well as date -s command, but it still after some time start running ahead of the physical host time.

I did a trace with the code, but from there itself it discards the % sign, while I did add a ? sign to test, and this one is loaded correctly. any idea why am not able to display the % sign?

Hello, I've created a flash movie which loads texts from a textfile into a dynamic textbox to be displayed. However, in my text I have a "%" sign, which is not being rendered when am loading the text in the flash. Anyone knows how to make this show up? Am using flash cs5, but saving my project in cs4 format, with flash 8 player support

download a trial of tuneup utilities 2012, it has the option to fix wrong icons being displayed (hopefully in the trial version, else need to buy a license)

Hello, I have a Ubuntu 10.04 server running on a VM on Windows XP, and would like to sync the VM's date/time with the XP one. How can I do this?

I tried with the date -s command in the console, but after some time the date/time on the VM is running too far ahead.

Hello, am currently troubleshooting a PC running XP SP3 Pro, and found that in the the taskmanager, under Processes tab there are 2 explorer.exe running. Anyone knows why? Virus scan and scan with Malwarebytes returned nothing, just in case...

hello, am currently working on a code written by an ex-colleague, which was in asp and now converted to php. I want to add the value held by a dynamic text box to the mail () function of my code:

IN the above codes, the 1st one corresponds to an email which a user will enter in a form, while in the second code section, the 2 fixed emails defined are for receiving the sent mail. I want to add the user email as well to the email list, and knowing that it will be dynamic for each user, how can I concatenate it to the list of defined mails in the second section??

PS: am somewhat new to PHP programming, so pls be a little soft on me :$

EDIT: instead of concatenating, anyone can tell me how to add it as CC or BCC instead?? I would not like to make the user see the 2 fixed emails addresses in the mail he/she will receive as a copy

If I've got the correct game, http://grandchase.gamerage.com, the minimum specs concerning RAM and Graphics are as follows for an XP machine:

RAM: 512MB
Graphics: GeForce 6000 series (which should be around 256MB memory)

I would suggest you download Speccy from Piriform.com, install and run it on your machine, and give us the details

If you have a spare hard disk, try to install windows on that and see if you get the same problem again. If so then it could be the Motherboard as well (had that with an old one for the random restarts), else if your computer works on fine, then it was your hard disk itself with the problem.

Did a scan disk with a tool: Active@ Hard Disk Monitor, did not return any thing wrong, and had scheduled one to run when restart, which did discover some bad sectors and fixed them.
However since this week the computer has been stable, guess it was just a temporary malfunction then...

Sorry if am not being too helpful, as I've never created any chm file so far, however, i've opened a chm file with images present in it, and from the image properties I've gathered, it still looks for the Images folder in my case to display them in the file (precompiled with the file it seems, as in the folder containing the chm file I did not find the Images folder).

This is the URL I obtained for the image from the chm file (right clicking on image->Properties):

However, when I decompiled the chm file using the html tool, it did decompile the Images folder separately, and sure enough there was the rp_001.png image in it.

And looking at the source code of the page calling the image, here is what I found:

From my path on my PC, the html page which had the image was found under this specific path (after decompiling):

while the Images folder was in the Decompiled folder

The Decompiled folder was created by me to extract the files/folders from chm file.

May be you should have another look at some in depth docs concerning HTML workshop if there are any available, and try create a temp image when the file is being opened on a remote pc. Also if you have not done it, try use relative paths instead of absolute paths in URLs.

Are you using roaming profiles or not? (if its not an XP Pro machine on a work network, you probably wont be)

Most likely your user folder has wrong permissions or your NTUSER.DAT has become corrupt or something.

I don't know about roaming profiles, but it is an XP Pro SP3 machine on a LAN at work
