Huawei Modem is made by an Asian Company, other companies such as Vodafone or Texa Industries only create software to use the huawei modem. Sorry about my mistake earlier, it is vodafone not vodaphone. Try and tell me whether it works. It might, if you are lucky.

Could be. Charge your battery first then start it up again. If it does not work your battery might be worn old. You can also use spare battery or use a power cord. Might be also a hard drive failure. I need more infromation.

I don't see any problem here like what rubberman said. You create a partition so you can install another OS or stuff on it when you delete the partitio all data on it naturally also get deleted. YOu install windows xp on your C drive partition that is why you can only see it unless you have other OS install on other partition but you cannot find them.

c cleaner is use to delete cache and delete unwanted files, but first we need to know what is his cpu usage. You can try that first if you want to

What is your cpu usage?

How long does it usuallt take to shut down the laptop before the problem and after the problem occurs. How long doed it takes to start up? What is your cpu usage? How big is your ram and how many spce have you left.

You can go and make vlc the defaultprogram so everytime you open avi file vlc will open. Clickon start and select default programs. The rest you are on your own now, if you need more help just post.

Ram is damn slow, should use a 4 GB and the space left is not much either. Justcurious what is your os? Cache or other useless filescan also slow down your computer, reformat it and latet maybe you would like to add aditional memory and ram. Problem might be virus related but doing a reformat will already delete all virues on yohr laptop.

Vista has many problems. You might want to upgrade your OS and use a newer version like windows 7. I will offer you some solutions.

1) make sure your firewall is turn off.
2) Reset your router and try to see if your windows laptop can connect to the laptop
3) make sure you wifi card is installed properly, if not re install your wi fi card again. Update all drivers.
4) make sure your wi fi is turn off. At the side of th laptop there should have a switch to turn off and on the wi fi.
5) try connecting to your router again but this time use an ethernet cable.
6) check your network settings.

One last time can you access the internet. Does your wi fi shows connected but cannot access internet or your wifi shows not connected to thr network.

Good to hear your problem is solve. Next time do not reformat in order to free out memory you can use mac scan to delete unwanted files but it causedba lot of money. To buy it maybe more than $59. If you have any other problem. You can come back to daniweb. Bye

Is your problem taking too long to shut down? If that is the case a hard disk failure could be imminet. Have you tried doing a virus to scan for virueses?

When you open a word document file does it open with adobe instead of word. If that is the case your default porgram is change you can follow lijdellar advice. If it does not work, uninstall adobe and see whether that solve your problem. Good luck

Stiill, no os are invulnerable. Sooner or later mac will be the main target of hackers.

You said that you are an apple certified technician and have not heard of viruses, you get that wrong. There are virus for mac, even Apple founders said so themself. You should pay attention to them, what they also said is that mac chance of getting a virus is less than 1 %. That means it is nearly impossible to get virus but that does not mean virus does not exist. All previous experts in these forum have already said so, you should change your thinking. I am only a child yet i know all these. There are different types of trojan and one of the newest is Boonana but there is a product that can stop it ( called Boonana trojan remover ). What's your problem, an apple technician should know all these.

Those working in the security and virus industry will know this. In the future maybe a few months more hackers will target mac osx platform, all these virues i mention is minor ones. They are created by the hackers to test out only. They wanted to find out what is mac osx weakness and create a virus that is able to counter mac defense.

2) Reet your router. Go to the back of the router and hold down the reset button for 5 seconds.
3) Downloaad the latest drivers for your wireless adapters.
4) Can other laptops connect to your network?

Are you guys bringing personal grudge into this thread? You can't delete your account, if you want to quir DB which i don't want myself just let your account die by itself. Don't post for a few months and people will gradually forget you, you will also automatically won't receive daniweb email subscription if you never come back for a long time.

Thr problem now does not lies with the keyboard but the inability to type the password. CAn you show us an image of the login screen. I need to see what it is like. What type of keyboard are you using? If you are using a USB one try switching ports. Plug the keyboard into another USB port. And also tells us what steps you have tried before so we won't repeat them again.
