I'm attempting to use Sphinx for the first time in awhile. require('includes/lib/sphinxapi.php'); // Sphinx Search API $cl = new SphinxClient(); $cl->SetServer($config['SphinxServer']); $cl->SetSortMode(SPH_SORT_RELEVANCE); $cl->SetMatchMode(SPH_MATCH_ANY); $articles = $cl->Query('Foo', 'articles delta'); If I then do `var_dump($articles);` it just always returns `bool(false)`. What am I doing wrong? If, from the CLI on the web … | |
Re: Are you receiving less traffic? The Panda and Penguin algorithm updates will affect your traffic levels but shouldn't affect your AdSense revenue directly. In fact, I've usually found that AdSense CPC tends to increase a tiny bit after a big algorithm shift because all of the sites on the losing … | |

Re: Sorry about that ... it's another case of a file that is supposed to be out of sync on the dev server and production server. Essentially the file that says to show php strict warning messages is set to enabled on dev and is SUPPOSED to be suppressed in production. … | |
Re: We frown upon this question being asked here because it turns into a spamfest. But if you do a site search, you'll come up with quite a few hundred in a list. | |

Re: Hmmm ........ Don't focus on what other people are doing, just focus on how to make what you are doing better. Cheesy, I know, but there's not a lot of people hangin' around the DaniWeb office to get advice from! What's yours?? | |
Re: Don't put any faith at all into Google toolbar pagerank. Google still factors pagerank into its algorithm, but it has an interal pagerank that it uses, and whatever it says in the toolbar is always wrong. Back in the day (a long time ago), toolbar PR has a meaning, but … | |

Re: You don't need any license at all. It's fine as long as your ISP doesn't block port 80. It sounds like your hosting company allows port 80 (the http port) to be open, so sounds good. | |
Re: I have no clue what you're asking, I'm sorry. | |
Re: We just upgraded to the latest version of the editor we use last night, so it's possible something is amiss. But I cannot duplicate your problem on either Chrome 19.0.x for Mac or Chrome 17.0.x for Windows 7. | |
Re: Pretty much. And, at this point, as we move away from niche forums more towards tagging, I don't want to go the route of multiple database forums. | |
Re: You mean like "Recommended" in the bottom purple toolbar? It's automatically customized just for you. | |
Re: No, don't send any money without a signed lease. His account number and routing number appear at the bottom of every check he would ever write, so it's not exactly privileged information. If you send money to his account, it wouldn't necessarily be considered bank fraud and there's nothing a … | |

Re: Hi Doug, Welcome to DaniWeb! Firstly, the php-tags are unnecessary :) In the future, please indent your code, or use our Code button, to post code. Secondly, you are most likely getting that error because of the line `<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>`. Try replacing that line with this: `<?php echo '<?xml … | |

Re: It happens. Your ranking for particular keywords in Google is never a sure fire thing. Keywords get more competitive as time goes on. Be sure to constantly work on your backlinks, and always follow the best on-page SEO practices. | |
Re: When a spider indexes your site, it crawls its content to include in its index so it can be searchable. Optionally, search engines will store a cached version of each page in their index. Keep in mind that when a search engine caches a copy of a page, it's different … | |

Re: Reminds me of a bad clone of AskJeeves, which was targeted towards the non-tech saavy demographic as well. I added a new fade effect when hovering over ads. Does it make the ads more noticeable? Is it really annoying? If you accidentally hover over, you have to wait for the fade effect to go way. | |
Re: Alternatively, you can use Apache's mod_rewrite. I have used this so all forums and threads can be written as forum5.html and thread123.html, for example. Of course, I haven't taken the time to do this for all my pages. Perhaps I will when the new VB3 style is released :) | |
Re: Eeek, I'm really sorry you're experiencing problems on DaniWeb. As you browse around the site, is it keeping you logged into the system, or is it kicking you out with each pageview? I can't think of a reason why it would keep you logged in but only kick you out … |
