...I agree. Get a better graphics card. If this were an onboard Nvidia or ATI it may have work but not Intel. Get a Nvidia or ATI graphics card, you can get decent graphics cards fairly cheap.

You could also try removing the graphics card if it has onboard graphics. If you motherboard has a VGA connection you should be able to boot without a dedicated graphics card.

How about your old hard drive does it say which type it is on that?

You could get a linux live CD and possibly transfer the files to an external source e.g external hard drive.

Did you try formatting via prompt? The windows disk management should tell you the size of the drive and should be able to format from there.

Hello thomasms, If I were you I would shrink the windows partition down a bit. I am assuming the partitions needed are 1 ext3 and a swap one. Shrink your windows partition by about 10 Gig in case you need more space. Try 1GiB swap and about 8GiB for ext3.

Did the disc need to be finalised? Have you tried DVD+R? I would recommend getting some DVD+RW and copy them onto your PC. Then you can edit the movie cut ads etc and burn to disk after.

have you tried entering safe mode? Let us know if it is the same. It could be corrupt files and not startup programs.

You can have four primary partitions on a hard drive. Which means you can have up to four primary partitions on each hard drive.

Could you tell us what the problem is? No internet connection, problem launching the web browser etc...

Have you tried pressing windows key+ break? What processor does it show? Also, have you tried going into device manager to see if the new processor is there in place of the old one?

Whats the condition of the CD? Is it scratched? Try using Linux to delete the windows partition if you have got all the data from it. Then try the XP Cd again and perform a full format not a quick one when reinstalling it.

You may also want to try powering the laptop off the cord whilst the battery is removed. This will test if the cable is working.

Try going into device manager and see if you noraml keyboard is listed. There should be two keyboards. Also see if you can use you laptop keyboard by entering BIOS at boot up - Then exit BIOS without saving.

The div has nothing in it. Try putting a border in CSS around the foot div to see if it displays.

What happens when you insert a CD? Does it show up in explorer? Have you tried differnet CDs? You could also see if the problem is the same in safe mode.
