It has a 32mb sdram 100mhz inserted. And it look like the 320.

What sort of external device can be attached?

Hey, I visited that site, thanks for the link and wow, so expensive. I got mine for free and I think I've got some more in my junk box. I collect old computers and parts then try to stick them all together without knowing what they do or what they are for. I know a lot about computers and have done a few years worth of courses in PC building but I never did understand the Raid controller thingy. Never thought I'd ever use it.

the external connection is for any scsi device ,like printers and external harddrives ect ect /i only use the internal connections,i have 2 drifferent ones and 3 different scsi harddrives , once i install the card in my winxp computer , then did a dual boot with win 2000 installed on a 18gig 10,000 rpm [sounded like an airplane and ran really hot and fast !]scsi drive ,with 3 x6 gig partitions ,with 2000 on one ,programs on one and the swap file on the third one

Gerbil,
Thanks. I tried Malware remover, and it found a few trojans, but even after removing them DEP still pops up immediately when I try to access IE. I ran the malware remover, full scan, twice. Once I tried to jump right on IE afterwards. Once I did a restart before jumping onto IE. So...how do you remove or neutralize DEP? We have a home computer, and only use the subject netbook computer to go online. So it's basically useless to us if we can't get online.

post the malwarebytes log ,requested by Gerbil

I did everything, I'm on the boot that ComboFix put me on, so I can see it's very limited, I'm going to reboot now, and hope for the best, the attachments show the new HJT log, and a MWB log, thank you so much for helping me so far.

you didn't fix the last malwarebytes scan

all good advise ,but you will need the interface from the exact same hard drive

I looked at one this morning for a friend of mine and I wasn't happy with what I saw (or in this case, didn't see). When I turned on the system, there was no response from the monitor, no beeping codes from the motherboard and the only sounds I heard were the fans gently whirring away.

1.) I swapped out the video card with one I knew was good, but nothing changed.

2.) I unplugged both the case fan & the CPU fan and listened carefully.....the only thing I heard was the hard drive, but still no repsonse.

Is this indicative of motherboard failure and should I advise them to replace the MB or buy a new system?

Was there something else I missed and should have done?

hi, first you should tell us a little more about the spec of the computer ,and you should never run a computer with out the cpu fan plugged in . try another power supply

Hi

Thanks, I'll check the link out. As to your insinuation of searching virtual tour software being easy, I was merely asking whether anyone knew any good ones for my task in particular, as there are heaps out there.

But okay, next time I'll check out the tech guy forum. People there seem more friendly and less sarcastic.

don't base you opinion of this forum on my answer as there a re a lot of good people here ,that are not as moody and picky as I ,lol

for me ,i was just adding a google search to help you ,as a lot of people come here and to other help sites with out even looking on google ,had you mentioned you did a google search. i likely would have not even replied to you thread ,, Good day and good luck ,

also if burn marks are on the connectors of the powersupply is that a bad sign as well

that is a very bad sign, passably left after a power surge, that also caused damage to you motherboard .
you are using what is considered a cheap mother! and its my experience that cheap is not good ,and they don't hold up well !

examine motherboard carefully with your trained eye, looking for burn marks and swollen capacitors !swollen caps will have opening in the top with the cooling chemical oozing from within!even the slightest amount on 3 to 5 of them will cause this to happen to a motherboard

using a new or known really good PSU,plug it in to only the motherboard ,and the hard drive ,nothing else ,boot to the bios and set it to default setting save and reboot computer and tell me/us what happens .

this might help "system file checker" , go to start /run/ type in SFC /scannow ,note there is a space between the C and the /, you will likely need the windows cd in to replace the missing or corrupt system files

for malwarebytes ,go into its install folder in program files folder[C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware] and change the MBAM.exe file to something different like Byteme.exe ,and click on it to run it works for me when i cant get it to run on infected computers.
also i recommend this cleaning tool CCleaner
Download Ccleaner, Install it, Open it...
Under the 'Cleaner' Section select all in the 'Windows' And 'Applications' Tab, Then click on 'Analyze' And then 'Run Cleaner'...
Do The Same In The 'Registry' Tab, i.e. 'Scan For Issues' and 'Fix Selected Issues', It will ask you to make a backup, DO IT...
Then Click on 'Fix All'...run the registry one until it finds no more! Now Reboot The Pc..

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

I know this one but unfortunately internet would be too slow and the usbs plugs are too. Got to do whatever's possible with the tools already existant.
Got a bunch of problems. Tells me the uninstaller tool cannot be used in safe mode or it hasn't been properly installed. Ahem...

what are the specs on the computer ,maybe its time to toss it and upgrade

unistall program usually need to be done in full mode ,via the add and remove program in control panel/.
go to start and run, type in msconfig, and check of diagnostic startup ,reboot and try unistalling program .
right click on the harddrive icon in mycomputer and go tools and do a disk cleanup.
you are just going to have to bite the bullet and let it take the time it need to do these thing ,or you are just wasting out time , good luck and have a good day !

I have a desktop computer that has no wireless internet connection, and a laptop with wireless internet connection. I want to know how I can bridge the connection between my desktop computer to my laptop, so that both can surf the internet. I've heard the bridging the connection works, but when I tried, it didn't work. I'm almost sure that I did something wrong, as I had no idea what i was doing at the time. Both computers are running Win XP right now, if that's any help.

Any help anyone could give would be great!!!!!

not sure if it can be bridged persay, but you should be able to connect it through network cards in the laptop and the tower ,via a crossover cable and share the internet ,do a google.com search for more info .
where does your laptop get it internet from ! maybe you could connect to that modem /router

hi for starters try going to start/run/msconfig. go startup ,and try antagonistic start up ,reboot and see if you can run a scan .
i also suggest this program .

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Download the update from here if you have problems.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Or at C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

Make sure that you restart the computer.

What was the point in replying to my question?

If you have worked in the business world for a legitimate length of time, you would know the reality is that rules are broken all the time. Such is the case with my laptop, complete with software.

I do not want your 'suggestion' thank you, it offers me no help to my problem

Let me offer you a suggestion and you will understand why I am replying to you in this way. Here is my suggestion: If you are not going to offer help in your replies, then don't reply.

Jupiter 2 is correct ,and we here at Daniweb can't offer you any help because its against the rules of this forum as we do not know they gave it to you, you could have stole it for all we know ,so we will error on the side of caution ,and your prissy attitude !lol
my suggestion to you would be ask you work IT department for the info you need or get one of them to do it for you
