well if it happened after you install sp3 then why are you running spyware tools ,did you try hitting f8 on startup and go to safe mode ,see if you can ,and if you can go to control panel see what happens ,if you can go to add and remove programs and uninstall sp3 . and if that does nothing for you go to antivirus/spyware and other nasties of this forum and read the top stickies and do as suggested .do not post hijackthis log here .

I am having problems with my VX-6000. I bought 2 one for my son and one for us. PROBLEM: We can see & hear them BUT they cannot see or hear us. We can see ourselves with our camera but for some reason it does not get to my son's computer. Just a black screen.
Any suggestions? We are not very good with computers but I think we did everything right. We unplugged and re plugged . Deleted program and installed 2 - 3 times but no luck,

Bios does not recognize hard drive - Hard drive appears as 'Rigel' rather than as Maxtor 5T060H6. Apparently some hacker got to it. Any way to re-program it?

ok, first was it the main /only hardrive in the computer /or is it a slave drive for storage .or is it a usb external storage drive ???
if it your main drive and had windows loaded onto it ,try formatting and reinstalling window to it

nope ,fastest it takes is 1 gig x 4 ,ddr 400, also knows as pc3200.
it doesent support ddr2 ram acording the msi site.

and because the eee-pc uses a solid state flash disk of sorts its going to be harder to clone it ,will need to clone to external device i assumme .

a lot of laptops that are made and come with vista have problem with xp drivers ,when you installed the drivers did you reboot in between each driver install to make sure it installed fully and worked , before installing the next driver

Greetings, I have just completed an 'upgrade' from Vista to XP. The problem I have is re-establishing the connection to the 'net. PC will not see the modem (siemens Speedstream 6520). It all worked previously with no probs. Connections have been checked. Modem is in sync with outside network. All lights up with exception of Ethernet (pc). Any ideas would be appreciated.

vista to xp would be considered a downgrade , did you install drivers for you network controller device , right click on mycomputer /properties/hardware /device manager and check network devices and make sure the drivers are install ,no yellow !! or red X

i alwasy find and think its actually reccomended that you install winxp ,and the next thing you install is morherboard chipset driver and then vide o,before you do any windows updated .start orver !

not sure about ez-scsi ,i see it when google search for it but kind of privey ,and only seems to be for win95-to 2000,

i have an older scsi drive and adaptc card that i installed in a few computer over the past few years and didn't have any problem install and booting to them ,but i think i might have been doing a dual boot ,used a bootmanager and dual booted it a few times . used this osl2000.

hi, you will need to install the drivers for scsi adapter when install windows ,by hiting f6 when you boot to windows cd. you will need the drives on a floppy disk[there may be other ways ,but windows only see floppy disk i think ],i have a dell workstation with 36gig scsi disk and adaptec pci adapter .

you are suppose to put hijack logs in the virus and spayware and other nasties section of daniweb for best help . there are a few possiable nasties in the log .

Sorry, I don't think I've been clear enough. The problem is that I can't get to BIOS... matter of fact, I can't get anything to display on my monitor at all. I turn on the computer and nothing shows up on the monitor.

just a thought ,any chance you have a second monitor around to try it ,also what fan is spinning really fast the cpu one!?
.unplug power to everything like cdrom and floppy drive and harddrive ,just leave power to the motherboard ,remove all ram chips,and any pci cards like network and modems if any ,and try,you should hear beeps because of the no ram ,if no beeps then the motherboard/ or cpu is not working

just thinking if i nolonger need disc 2 why keep it.

i would remove it if you still have the 2003 install disk ,if something happens you could just reinstall/repair office 2003

ok ,i don't know what they all mean ,but one is windows media player hung when you were using it ,another one is computer time sinc ,just means that when windows went to sinc you computers time it failed to connect to time server ,no biggie!

Hi Guys dont know if im in right place for this as im new here.

i am running xp with all updates and had Office 2000 for years which came on 2 discs. some time ago i installed Office 2003 from 1 disc. the installation removed only 1 of the 2000 discs. can i uninstall the other to free up space or will it be detrimental to 2003 or will i loose data?

any suggestions please

not sure really,im still trying to figure out how you know it left one disk behind ,as when you install a programs like office it would not show like disk 1 disk 2 ,what are you referring to and where do you see the remaing disk from 2000

just my 2cents ,if it were my computer i would format and start over and not reinstall all the "stupid" unnecessary programs you have install over time

does the eee-pc actually have a hardrive ,thought them things used flash drive technology ,i know some of them do that's how they get them so small !

cant see through the dirt ,comp must be running hot ,should vacuum it out take and get it cleaned ,the bottom card looks like a dialup modem ,whats that number between the first to slots looks like ,PIGD-LA .
I have no idea about the numbers posted and if you think im searching all those card numbers to see if any come in reg pci ,you are crazier than i'm.lol
just google pci video card and read carefully as a lot will be pci-e even though you searched pci video .

check in the bios and make sure that it still sees you harddrive .
and or maybe do/try the restore again
