Adwords hasn't been loading for me for the past hour or two. It just keeps saying Loading... across the middle of the page, and keeps refreshing itself. Is it just me?
Re: Aww, sorry to hear that Narue. Unfortunately, I typically stress out relatively easily when it comes to meeting deadlines, so I sympathize.

Re: Actually, there was the Jewish holiday (two days). Then, the day it ended, Eyal scooted from New York to California for the Intel conference and to do the interview with Steve Wozniak. Then, the day he returned home, another Jewish holiday started.
Re: Eeek, really?? I need to go ahead and fix that ...
Re: We used to allow people to edit posts indefinitely, and ran into OH SO MANY constant problems with that. People were constantly going back and editing posts in such a way that it made entire discussions incomprehensible. The 30 min limit ensures that posts are only edited for typos, ommissions, …
Re: I'm confused what you're asking for. It seems like what you're asking is EXACTLY what Sanjay said you can do, by subscribing to threads with no email notification.
Re: Hey there :) Sorry I took so long to get here. I was away at a convention and then came home and slept for a few days straight. I tried visiting Shackbase but it just says the site is under construction. Do you own all the network sites listed? I …

Re: Web design is definitely art. It takes knowledge of which colors are easier on the eyes, aesthetics, defining a site's "atmosphere" based on the way it looks, and even a lot of graphic marketing! I.e. the design has to sell the product the website is trying to sell :)

Re: I don't believe this is possible as PHP is a scripting language, and therefore doesn't have the ability to gain control of hardware directly. For example, you wouldn't be very happy if you were surfing the web and various PHP-driven sites had direct access to your hard drive and hardware! …
Re: Umm ... what does this have to do with Internet marketing?
Re: You could have a variable called marys_account_number, a variable called marys_balance, a variable called joes_account_number, and a variable called joes_balance. You could also have a function that withdraws money into Mary's account by decreasing the marys_balance variable, etc. But doesn't that all seem a bit redundant? What if we're talking …

Re: Generally it's not worth it to replace the tube in a CRT monitor. (That's like replacing a tv tube). Perhaps there is a setting on your monitor to make reds more vibrant, or did you check that already?
Re: Born and raised in/around New York City. I was very school-focused growing up. I am not into the club scene. I don't drink or smoke. Never have. Never will.
Re: I did some research and found the code to do the opposite, which is to add the www, is: Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^daniweb\.com [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.daniweb.com/$1 [L,R=301] However, it doesn't seem to work with subdirectories. Can anyone comment or help out with this? Thanks!
Re: Yup, it's been around for a few months now. Those Bing imitators!! Personally I think it's terrible. When it first came out, it was enabled by default, and there was such public outrage that it was taken down within hours.
Re: Funnily enough, I used to be aboard the bandwagon that Google sitemaps were useless. I had a sitemap since the protocol's inception, and then got rid of it, and noticed absolutely no increase/decrease/change of any kind either before or after. Just today I decided to give it another shot, after …
Re: The purpose of redirects is so that members can find moved threads. When a moderator moves a thread, the thread starter gets a PM that their thread has been moved. However, all the other members and website visitors who may have been following the thread, whether or not they replied …
Do you read the DaniWeb news stories? If not ... what about them doesn't interest you?
Re: By paid advertising, do you mean promoting affiliate programs with PPC?
Re: Don't you mean you want to decrease bounce rate? A high bounce rate is bad. Bounce rate is the percentage of people who come into your site, look at one page, and then instantly leave without clicking around your site. In other words, they come and then bounce away.
Re: Sounds awesome ... Anyone have a picture of what the prototypes look like?
Re: Excited to see DaniWeb's coverage of the event over the next couple of days. I'm going to be following that Twitter hash tag!! :)
Re: Get other sites to link to your site using the keyword you want to target as anchor text (text for the links). There's no trick to it ... provide good content and other sites will naturally link to you.
Re: Yup, been using IE8 since it came out. (It launched with Windows 7, right??? I forget already) FireFox is still faster, but I'm an IE fan.
Re: I'm not sure what you're referring to, sorry? Google sites??
Re: The reason this isn't done is because all of the JavaScript required to load the full editor is very heavy, and would significantly slow page loading times whenever browsing threads. However, I believe this idea is currently being circulated in the vBulletin forums for an upcoming version.
Re: Hi, Unfortunately, it seems you are doing all the right things. Just keep persevering and maybe you'll strike it lucky at the next google algorithm update. Be sure to really go strong on getting a constant stream of new backlinks always being added.
Hey guys, Who's been following the Apple Event today? It's being live-blogged on Engadget FINALLY wireless printing for the iPad, which is practically the only reason I got the iPad in the first place lol. Really been waiting on that one especially. Re: Make your landing pages easy to navigate (as mentioned before) and also give a good overall impression of what else can be found on the site, along with some type of incentive to explore the site more thoroughly.
Re: Social networking not only gets you traffic from the various mediums (Facebook, twitter, etc) but SEO is all about getting as many sites out there to link to you. Social networking can be very viral in that regard too.
Re: It has been a work in progress among the moderators for about a month now. It just went live yesterday, with some ammendments today, so I want to wait until it's settled and agreed upon behind the scenes before encouraging everyone to read them.
Re: Lots of high PR sites constantly linking to you (Google wants to find new sites starting to link every day). Also, quality content that frequently changes. And a good navigation structure that passes pagerank around.
Re: You can specify canonical urls in meta tags, so that when search engines spider a page, they are aware of the URL that you want the page to be accessed by.
Re: I think the best option is what I'm doing. For undergraduate, a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Business Computer Information Systems (So I get a taste of Business IT/CIS in my minor) with all of the math and programming skills in my major. Now that I'm graduating, …
Re: The best backlinks are, of course, from sites which have a high ranking themselves. Just about all the methods you mentioned are free, so it can't hurt to constantly build as many as you possibly can.

Re: Just wanna check up on something ... Personally, I've never connected to a database via ODBC. However, just wanna check: You say you used the command Set db = DBEngine.Workspaces(0).OpenDatabase("dbsourcename", ,"DSN=dbsourcename;UID=MyUID;PWD=Mypassw") to connect to the database. You *DID* replace the items in bold with your own variables, right? Just making …

Re: Google AdWords is when you buy clicks (PPC, or pay-per-click). Google AdSense is when you are a publisher with a content-based website, and you want to show ads on your website and earn money when visitors click on them. Re: I'm pretty well acquainted with most of Google's offerings, but unfortunately I don't think they do. Google Buzz is the only thing that comes to mind, but it's not really a bookmarking service.
