I just installed Redhat Linux 9 to play around with it. It booted into the command prompt. How do I make it so that it boots into the GUI, and then on every other boot, boots into the GUI as well (so it temporarily permanantly boots into the GUI).

1) Is it possible to install Ruby (the compiler) onto a flashdrive and run it on another machine without adding the registry edits? Is there like a portable copy of the compiler that I can use? I need Ruby at school, but I can't install anything. 2) I think my …
Re: The iPhone security will always be a target for hacks, as it is such a great breakthrough; people want more. Check out Jailbreaking, Pwning, etc. your iPod touch and iPhone -- it won't stop with the 1.1.* era of Firmwares; 2.0*+ will also be hacked. It's just how computing works. …
Re: That looks nice. However, the whole buy 100 / get one free deal isn't going to benefit 3rd world countries that much at first, but as sales progress, err... IF sales progress, then the benefits will follow. It looks nice, and it's different from most laptops these days (the fat …

Re: Err... Why don't you just make a new form (frmMsgBox)? You can just do something like:
frmMsgBox!Text1 = "Testing, 1,2,3" Load frmMsgBox frmMsgBox.Show
You can change frmMsgBox!Text1 = "" to whatever you want the message to say. You can add buttons, an icon, etc to it. Does that work?
Hello! My mother recently got a Palm Zire 31 for free, which she passed on to me, as I am a PDA user. Now, the problem: I don't have the damn cable to plug it into my computer. My camera uses the same type of cable, and allows me to …
Is it possible to get a single key press without having the user press enter? So, say if you were writing a game, say an RPG, to high WASD to move. Ie:
x = getkey() if x = "w" # blah blah blah if x = "a" # blah blah …
Re: Macintosh computers are great for graphics and media professions. I love Macs because of Logic Pro as well as how great Photoshop is on them (believe me, the Windows version doesn't even compare in usability).
On MacBooks, Powerbooks, and some iBooks (I think), the scroll function is using two fingers. On my new laptop, the function is scrolling with the far right of the pad. Is there an application for Windows XP that will activate this function? I have a Synaptic Touchpad. -- Alex

Re: What they're trying to say is this: Open the QuickTime Preferences diaglog and turn the feature that makes QuickTime the default player off. Now, go into Windows Explorer (start>run>explorer) and hit tools>folder options>file types and change the QuickTime settings to their defaults. You can also just do this from inside …
Would it be possible? Not exactly a typical sequencer, but something like this: I would record every note on my electric and acoustic guitar, bass, drums, and piano (essentially creating samples of each instrument that I own). Then export them to .wav and organize them by folder (/data/guitar/electric/string6fret1_F.wav). Then using …

Re: If you rely on the Windows platform, the .NET field is getting better and better. Visual Studio 2008 has many new features. And, if you need to run them on Linux/UNIX, Mac OS, or even portable (soon) platforms, Mono is a great way to run them. However, I do suggest …
