So the machine starts up but you have no video output? no beeps or anything, I'm assuming... Perhaps you should try reseating the memory to try fixing the video output. Otherwise, try to find a video card, as I'm guessing you're still using the integrated video that came with the …

If the computer runs and has no display try the reseating the memory modules, as usually the video does not work if there's a problem with the memory. First, try plugging in an auxiliary monitor into the VGA port if this laptop has one, and see if you get a …

Try connecting this monitor to a different pc to make sure the monitor is working, if so, you might have a bad video adapter. When you press power, the pc turns on? you get fans spinning, etc? What about beep codes, are there any beeps that would indicate bad hardware? …

No suggestions; if the fan doesn't work I'd replace it. It IS a laptop, so the fan is almost essential for that thing to survive. And yeah, blow out the dust; is it possible you were getting blue screens with memory problems because the memory was getting too warm?

So you can get into setup where you change the boot order? Have you tried the +/- keys on the keypad to change the order of the devices or has it just not let you even get into the boot order menu?

Loading up graphics intensive games will cause the gpu to need more power. When it tries to draw this power from the PSU it might overwhelm it and cause it to power off. If you have another powersupply handy to test this theory I would recommend giving it a go …

I've got ADSL through Qwest and the supplied modem's been getting pretty finicky dropping connections and needing frequent reboots. I'm going to buy a new modem (the actiontec m1000): http://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-EUADSL23C-08-Qwest-DSL-Modem/dp/B001A4H9CW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260462711&sr=8-1 I've never setup a new ADSL modem, but I do have experience networking. I was just hoping someone has had …

Was doing a minor wireless network for a boarding house... there is one cable modem (a motorolla surfboard) for broadband cable internet access... the ethernet cable goes from there to a Netgear dual band wireless router. Then, another ethernet cable goes upstairs to another wireless router (the first router's range …

I believe it is actually called the ccnp... not exactly sure. You're ahead of me there, anyway. If you could find a little tech college somewhere you could get some nice coursework. Either that or go to cisco.com and look up the ccnp there. They've got everything you need, I'm …

You could always just replace the PSU and run the system bare minimum (cpu, ram, video) and see if it all works. Then add the other add-on cards, drives, etc and see if it all works. It sounds like you'll have to replace the PSU anyway, so this would probably …

When you say you checked to see if the power button was connected, do you mean you checked the motherboard itself? or did you check the button assembly in the front panel? when you press the power button, it touches those two wires together, which shorts and causes the psu …

You could probably reinstall steam on the portable hard drive and install all the local content for the games there as well. Try that. As for a hard drive, I would suggest upgrading to a SATA drive if your motherboard has SATA ports. But if not, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136112 That would be …

Assuming your DSL comes in to a modem, you can get a Linksys WRT54G (the base model by Linksys) and that should give you decent wireless. www.newegg.com They have all kinds of wireless routers if you want to go take a gander.

I would remove the old PSU as soon as possible. Having a damaged power supply can lead to other components getting damaged as well. The PSU in my mind is the most important part of the computer. 165 watts would barely cut it in any situation for me. I would …

I have an Epson receipt printer which Windows detects as an Epson TM-P2.01. It has worked fairly well, but it is suddenly not working anymore. Every time a print job is sent to the device, it either spools it, or if spooling is disabled it tries to print it. But …

There should be a function key combination to press (Fn key with some F key.) that should turn on an LCD that has been deactivated. Try that and see what happens.

www.newegg.com Assuming you live in the united states, this website will be your best friend. Sounds like hard drive or memory problem... Probable hard drive... if you can boot from a cd still try getting some hard drive testing software and making either a bootable floppy or a bootable cd UBCD would be a good choice. (Ultimate Boot CD)

Intel has the fastest processors but they are generally more expensive. If price is not an issue I would get the huge QX6850 quad core (or whatever's on top right now) www.newegg.com if you live in the US this website is perfect for you.

since it doesn't seem like you're in the market to upgrading your mobo for something like PCIE, I suppose the 6200 will work. It won't run everything full blast!

You said that when you plug the power into the psu it just automatically starts up? did you try taking the PSU out and just plugging it in and seeing if it turned on while not giving any power to the mobo?

assuming you have your heatsink seated on the processor correctly, I'd say you're fine. that temperature isn't necessarily going to end your processor or anything, and the fact that a new fan dropped your temp 10/12 degrees is actually quite good. try another program to check your temp and see …

take out memory and put it back in and try it then; you may not be getting video because of you memory If you have another system with an AGP slot you could go and try your graphics card in that.

There is a company called HT Omega, check out their stuff. I have the Striker, but they make a Claro and a Claro + which are supposed to be amazing. Striker is around 60 bucks, Claro and Claro+ are 100+ range. www.newegg.com Creative is hit or miss.
