What's "wrong" with it? Is it producing results you didn't expect? Is the compiler throwing out errors or something?

Let us know what you expect to happen, and what you're actually getting. That way, we can more accurately help you out.

I've dealt with this in the past regarding advertisers on the site. Dani does have the ability to filter out certain ads, and she's done so for me in the past. If you know of a site that is particularly undesirable, and it's showing up in the ads we're rotating, please, PLEASE let Dani know-- we don't want to be the source of our own problems, I'm sure.

When are the files regenerated? Immediately? At system startup?

You might be able to go into the registry using those keys provided in the link you gave us, and delete them. Then, try deleting the files manually from the locations specified in the same link.

Sometimes, antivirus programs can't "Fix" something because there's nothing to fix; just stuff to remove.

In the future, we don't need to know how URGENT your request is. Urgency should ideally be determined on a first-come, first-serve basis: If you posted before someone else, you should get precedence before that other person.

Further, it's simply rude to imply that your question is more important than other posters. This is a free, community run, forum. Please respect the fact that we're doing this free for the benefit of all, not just you.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Went ahead and merged these two threads together. In the future, please keep all questions that relate to one another in the same thread.

Thanks!

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

plz help me out guys..........

Please stop bumping your thread. The people interested in your topic will find this discussion, and continue with it. You're being very inconsiderate to other posters with your behavior.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

That's a good question-- ask Dani; she'll probably see this post. She's the one who gets all of the stuff done with search engines, and the like.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Hi there,

We'll be more than glad to help you, but we need you to write some code, and then allow us to help you troubleshoot/improve it. That way, we won't be writing the program for you, but instead helping you do it.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Heck, 25% are "We don't do your homework for you." comments :-)

:p

;)

Told you I'm going to have to start spamming the forums... How else was I to get there? :)

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

wow... how long have I been here? Doesn't seem long enough to have 1000 posts...

Better start spamming the forum so I can get up to 2000 real quick! :D

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

just read what i wrote in "(about::blank, search for...)firsttimeposter" it is a simple workaround that i know many people wouldnt mind using

As was responded in that other thread, you suggestion of using FireFox is a good one to not have to deal with this stuff, but you still need to deal with the other browser's issue-- that it has been infected by something, and needs to be handled, for the sake of system security.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

My thing about the "latest greatest" has always been that the last gen stuff isn't going to go anywhere. Look at how healthy of a market there still is for N64 and PS1 stuff-- you can find it EVERYWHERE, nearly, and it's only getting cheaper.

...And it's not like production of games for older systems will cease-- I mean, they still made NES games when the SNES was released, and they still made SNES games when the N64 was released. And, for a short time, they made N64 games when the Gamecube came out. There's not going to be any difference this time-- get an Xbox, and enjoy the games that are out on it. If there's some must-have game that makes you want a Xenon, go for it, but there are plenty of great games out for the current models, and there will be for some time.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Those contests are lame. Get your forum posts up there by advertising, and giving people reasons other than bribes to come into your site.

More than likely, what they've done is invited themselves numerous times to Gmail, giving them multiple accounts, and basically farm Gmail accounts for invites. That's kind of a perversion of what Gmail's supposed to be for, and what good will a Gmail invite do you when it goes final? You're just one of a million who will have a Gmail account.

Just stick to improving your forum content, and get your name out. That way, you won't just get a bunch of people trying to spam your forum, and then leave after getting the requisite 20 posts.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Are you running the Windows Firewall? It's highly likely that Windows is blocking Port 80.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

i am just looking for any general ideas.

I went ahead and changed the color of your text to something more readable. This phrase is SUPER important around here... wouldn't want your thread getting closed, or anything...

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Can you please post your code here? That second part looks like you've not defined a function or something. Perhaps you've misnamed a function that you created, or you're #including a wrong library or something. Either way, post your code, and we'll be able to help you troubleshoot it.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Galmca:

Please keep one topic all in the same thread. You had already started and discussed for some length in this thread about this exact issue; please stay in this thread.

The only video card I've ever seen do anything similar to that is the Matrox Parhelia line, and they're WAY expensive ($500 US for a 256MB tri-output card). They're meant to span 3d modelling apps across two screens, but that doesn't mean you couldn't frag with 'em...

Here's a list of games they support.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Oh, sure Alex- just give them the easy way out...

:p pfft! to you, good sir!

Have you tried Acrobat 5.0 yet? What type of forms are they?

I assume that 98SE has some feature that 98 does not implement, hence the need for SE. Is there any way you can simply locate an upgrade disk for Windows 98SE? (legally, of course)

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Why even try to do that? Gmail has a notifier now, and it's going to be less of a "Shoehorn" approach than trying to get it working with MSN Messenger.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

That description doesn't sound like you're looking at the standard Windows XP Local Area Connection properties in your Network Connection settings under the Start menu. Seems like you're looking at some vendor-provided connection utility instead.

I have to log off right now ("real life" work calls), but in the mean time can you look at (and post) the settings in the Win XP Local Area Connection properties please? I don't think the Gateway IP of 127.0.0.1 (the local loopback address) you gave is going to work in the Linux setup.

Hrm...

Additionally, you can open a command prompt in Windows and try ipconfig /all-- that should give detailed IP address, Gateway, and DNS information.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Hi,

Now might be a good time to look at computer markets for a used 386 / 486 laptop (color). That way you have a computer that is nice and easy to store, and you can play your games with it. It should have a video out if the LCD ever dies.

Nothing lasts forever though. Then again, my Apple IIc still works!

Christian

I like this idea. I mean literally, I have stacks of Pentium/Pentium Pro/MMX/ Pentium II systems laying around that people just give to me. Laptops are a bit scarce, but you could definitely find old, low-spec white boxes that you can load DOS onto.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Eww... clicking?

Try a forum search about putting your hard drive in a freezer. DMR and someone else posted some stuff about this, and some have reported success in temporarily resurrecting "dead" drives.

Heck, since the drive's dead, it wouldn't hurt to at least try.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

so even buying a better heat sink and fan, that will run my cpu at normal temp even while overclocking, won't ensure me that I can over clock with out blowing something up?

Heat's probably the biggest part of it-- so long as you're running cool, you probably won't "blow it up"/burn it up. But, even if you can run it at normal temperatures, you'll still have to find the right mix of FSB, Clock multiplier, and voltage to get things stable.

First, make sure you've got sufficient cooling, then work on getting things stable. At least, that's the way I go, because I'm paranoid about popping chips. I burned up two XP2400s myself, but that was due to inadequate cooling...

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Try a forum search here; many others have discussed this subject before.

In Task Manager, click on "Processes" tab, then click on the "CPU" field. What processes are taking up the most CPU time?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You might be better served by picking up a PCMCIA Network card for that laptop, if at all possible.

Why? Several reasons: Firstly, a modem will be SLOW-- you'll be sitting for hours if you've even got more than 20 MB of data to transfer. Secondly, you need both machines connected to seperate lines on the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network. This could be either another phone number in your own house, or a neighbor's, etc.

It's really a pain in the arse to try and do this. For the time you spend setting all of this up, you could just get a NIC (Network Interface Card) for your laptop, and then get them talking to each other, transferring files far more quickly.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Have you tried calling Sony Spare parts? I know most OEMs offer a spare parts department; if you call them, they might be able to give you the exact part number.

Hey there! Welcome to TechTalk Forums!

You might want to ask your question in a different forum, like Windows 9x/ME, or Windows Software. The Geek's Lounge is usually reserved for off-topic chit-chat.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

how do i declare i1 ?

Wait a minnnit....

You don't know how to declare variables? What about this part in your code?

//Declare the variables

	int il, i2, quotient, remainder;

You declared some variables RIGHT THERE! How could you know to initialize variables there, but then forget? Did you copy this code, or something? Without stepping too far out on a ledge, I'll bet you could initialize i1 by

//Declare the variables

	int i1, i2, quotient, remainder;

Like kakilang, you used il several times instead of i1

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Well, gee.

For once, Google's no help. I tried searching, and this is the only thread that came up!!! :o

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Did you mean to have an il and and i1? I'm no C++ guru or anything, but it doesn't look like you ever declared i1 -- that's all.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Yes, we don't do your "projects" for you. Please write some code yourself, and then we'll help you troubleshoot it.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Again, like I mentioned in the other post, please change your font, and stop using ALL CAPS. That choice of font, and the usage of all caps is almost nauseating.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

WHAT IF I CREATE FOLDERS LIKE PROGRAMFILES_USER NAME[ADMINISTRATORS GROUP],START_USERNAME ETC. WOULD MY PURPOSE OF CREATING AN EXCLUSIVE ACCONT BE SERVED?YOU SEE BY AN OVERSIGHT I CREATED AN ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT FOR THE OTHER USERS OF THE COMPUTER THAT I OWN AND CREATED AN OTHER ACCOUNT IN MY OWN NAME[MEMBER OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE GROUP].I DON'T WANT THOSE GUYS TO SEE OR ACCESS ANY OF MY APPLICATIONS.BY THE WAY IS THERE ANY WAY BY WHICH I CAN TRANSFER THAT ACCOUNT TO THE POWER USERS GROUP WITHOUT AFFECTING THEIR SETTINGS TOO MUCH? :?: :?: :?:

HOLY SMOKES!

That has to be the ugliest combination of fonts and all caps that I have ever seen. I got confused just reading that. Can you please repost the question, and then change the font and/or all caps in the post?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Well, it really depends.

If you were into running Linux, there's a whole wealth of tools that can be downloaded for free. What specifically are you looking to program in? Others might be able to suggest something for Windows/Mac environments.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Well, galmca has legitemate questions and supplies some sample code, so s/he just needs to learn a little etiquate. That's better than the people who type in the question the professor posed and wants us to do their homework.

Very true, but I think according to Narue, there's a trend possibly forming...

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Um... probably so.

More, faster memory, and a faster processor will almost always give you greater FPS in a game. You didn't tell us what motherboard you were upgrading to, though. Have you given that a thought, because you can't stick an AMD chip in a board made for an Intel.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Please choose a different name for your thread titles in the future. "Help Needed Urgently With Coding" tells us nothing specific about what you need ( I mean, you've posted in a Coding forum, obviously you need coding help).

Additionally, stating you need help "Urgently" is rude. It is rude to the other members who have posted here before you. Urgent to you or not, wait your turn.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

i have been online here for 2 hrs..almost and didn't get any reply from any1/../so i was checking on some other threads of this site....as im new to this site...so plz don't take it otherwise...and help me out.......plz with this problem......

2 hours?!?!? You've not gotten an answer in 2 hours, and you're complaining?!?!?

Come on now. We're doing this for free-- you have no right to complain even if we don't answer in 2 days! Please be more mindful in the future. If nobody answers your question promptly, it's likely because we don't have the answer, or the right person has not yet visited the site.

Please be more considerate of other forum members, and don't bump your post in the same day you posted.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Is this some kind of homework question? What are you asking in relation to?

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Please don't name future threads something like this. We don't really care if your issue is urgent to you or not. I don't mean to be rude to you, but you stating your issue is urgent is rude to the forum, and the other members that have been waiting for help.

If you'll PM me a more appropriate title, I'll change it to something else. But again, please don't be so rude in the future.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

You probably don't need a password.

Temporarily, hook your computer directly up to the cable modem. Open up a terminal window. (Win2k/WinXP, Start -> Run, type cmd. either way, click OK. )

In Windows 2000/XP, type ipconfig /all. There should be your DNS servers listed in there.

Under 9x/ME, you can click start -> Run, and enter winipcfg /all.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

I truly appreciate all of your input, but I have already tried all of these tips - including reinstalling windows - that didn't work either. I did have lots of spyware, but all have since been removed and I don't have any more virus' either. All I know is that my son was on my computer and went to a "rapper" website (killakane - or something like that) and I have been having trouble ever since then. Now, my desktop (I am the administrator on the computer) and my husband's do not have anything - icons, task bar, start button - but, my son's desktop has everything! Its the strangest thing I have ever seen! I really need to get this working again. Any other suggestions??

You more than likely did not reinstall Windows. What I'm suggesting is back up all of your data, reformat, ie, WIPE OUT the drive, and then reinstall Windows, along with everything else on your system. If you do that, I guarantee that your problem will go away. I've never seen a single issue like this that has not been dealt with fully by wiping out the system, and performing an OS reinstallation. (Trust me, I'm a support technician-- I do 4-5 OS reinstalls a day!)

Short of that, I think that antioed's advice might do the trick, too.

alc6379 120 Cookie... That's it Team Colleague

Is that really Computer Science, though? That's more Computer Networking, which is what my major was.

Shouldn't you perhaps focus on something like a comparison of two different processor architectures, or the advantages/disadvantages of one architecture's approach to computing/processing? Or, explain why you like a particular programming language.

When I think of computer science, I think of "to the metal" stuff like programming, and memory management type stuff, a little lower-level than wireless networking. It seems to me that might be the more on-topic approach to a CompSci dissertation.
