Sometimes the processor isn't seated right, or there is a bad pin, or something else. I'll …

Hmm....did you per chance install Service Pack 2. This error sounds all too familiar to me. Also, is the performance on that hard drive sluggish. Get back to me. If so, I think my knowledgebase has a solution for you. :cheesy:

A pretty reputable support site claims: 797 - The modem could not be found. This error occurs only in Windows 2000 and XP. The error can occur if the modem is no longer visible to the system, and may be a problem related to the modem driver, or system conflicts …

Sure...no reason why not. I've done it before to be honest and it worked with just some minor errors (mostly because the user was into modifying things he shouldn't have been...)

Can you maybe narrow this down to a list of sites for us? Might help a little more with finding out what the problem is. Also, can you post the version of Java installed so we can make sure there are no compatibility issues. :cheesy:

What kind of graphics card are you looking to put into it? Windows 2000 has come a long way with driver compatibility. Just post what you are looking to support and we'll let you know. :)

Okay - Try this mini-walkthrough: 1) Right click in the toolbar area. That context menu you mentioned will pop out. 2) Make sure the option "Lock the Toolbars" is NOT checked. If it is, click it to uncheck it. 3) Now try clicking and dragging the address bar to where …

This is a bit of an oldie, but here is what I have in mind: You might want to explore the site locatedHERE and download the Windows Media Professional Codecs. Now 'WMV' files shouldn't have a problem by default, and neither should 'MPEG' files, but I've seen weirder. Try out …

Describe this 'safe mode' a bit more ... does the computer turn off and reset in a safe mode state? Do you have to initiate the restart. The more details you can provide, the easier it is for me to help you out.

I'm thinking either the battery is fried or the contacts of it. But then again the A/C hookup should have started the laptop. Check for physical defects, and if none, I think the battery is to blame.

Wow....umm...let me just say that to the best of my knowledge...that is not currently possible. The molded connector for a laptop monitor is configured to pull energy and sigal to/from the LCD panel, and is not easily converted to the VGA on most desktops. Sorry about that... :cheesy:
