Most cards these days are PCi Express or AGP Your machine most likely has AGP. As a [B]general rule only[/B] AGP slots are brown, and there is usually only one of them. You wont be able to run a good card without upgrading your power supply though

hit f8 repeatedly as soon as it powers on - you should get to a menu. "Choose last known hood configuration" and if that doesnt work try "safe mode"

It means you are not connected to the internet, the internet isnt configured properley, or your firewall is blocking it. You should be able to activate by Phone (i think you can do it by SMS text too). You can do this in XP. Dont know about vista.

yes, is he getting "access denied" on his my documents? thats because of permissions. He probably made his account private when he put a password on it using XP which means that vista cant get at those files. There are ways to get at them though, i think.

it sounds like a dead/corrupted hard disk, try reinstalling windows (if it lets you) - you will probably lose all your stuff

control panel -> (classic view) -> network connections right click on the network card and choose properties. Select TCP/IP from the list and choose properties. Make sure everything is set to DHCP then reboot.

windows XP makes it really simple to do file and print sharing. it doesnt really need to be wifi though. My old pc sits under the stairs with USb disk drives and a printer attatched to it and then it connects to my wireless router by ethernet cable.
