good but dont switch to it until you have to you most likely wont get aero on your laptop and vista will be slow (general rule is 1gb of ram in vista runs the same as 256 does in XP)

i have a similar problem on an ibm laptop. works for windows media player etc but not for other things. Its a software issue with the windows driver as it works fine with linux (i dual boot)

Vista already has a sucesor in development. And XP SP3 comes out sometime in 2008. Wait until vista SP1 at least or else switch to linux (but i know thats not for everyone, i myself dual boot xp home as i need certain software)

I use aptana. Its opensource and baseed on eclipse. Has nice syntax highlithting, code completion etc... Very dreamweaver like but without the WYSIWYG functions.

Yes, .MSI files are windows installer files. Sounds like your windows installer is broken or corrupted. Try going to run and typing [code]sfc/scannow[/code]. You will need your XP CD. The process is silent. Just leave it until it completes and reboot. Can you describe the problem in more detail.
