Hey guys i'm taking a c++ class and I know this is easy material but im not sure if a function call can have like m+n or FMAX and stuff. Any help with this would be great thanks.

Determine which of the following function calls are invalid and explain why. Indicate if implicit type coercion takes place and any type casting required; specify the result of the conversions.

a. Test(z, y, m);
b. Test(x, y, 8.5);
c. Test(m, y, n);
d. Test(25.5, 15, x);
e. Test(x, y, m + n);
f. Test(a, b, x);
g. Test(y, x, 10);
h. Test(y + z, y - z, m);
i. Test(FMAX, FMAX, 10);
j.Test(z, y, x);
k.Test(x, y, m, 10);
lTest(x, y, IMAX);

try safemode with network.. see if it works then

Monte 39 Junior Poster

on my computer, quicktime doesn't play the midi files.. god knows why.. on my laptop it plays through windows media player perfectly

Sounds like a memory hole problem. Check BIOS settings. I would call Dell Customer Support and ask them because it's different on every motherboard.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

does bios show all 4 gigs of ram?

To clarify, any ip starting with 169.*.*.* is an auto configuration IP address which is assigned by Windows when the network adapter can not find a DHCP server. This means it can't find the server that assigns it an IP address on your cable/dsl connection. Follow these steps and it should work flawlessly:

1. Shut all PCs down.

2. Unplug the router.

3. Unplug the modem. Wait a minute or two.

4. Plug the modem back in and wait until all lights are green.

5 .Plug router back in. Wait a minute.

Reboot the PCs, one at a time.

when uninstalling and reinstalling devices, in some cases the settings of the device are still stored on the computer. It seems as if your adapter isn't connecting to the DHCP server address. Go into network connections and check your TCP/IP Properties and ensure that it is infact using DHCP. Paste me your ipconfig information (ipconfig /all) and let me check out your network ips (ip, dns, gateway)

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Limited or no connectivity usually occurs when your DHCP server is down on a network. It could be your Internet service provider's server, your personal router, or your DHCP provider. Check to see if you have an IP address when it's in limited mode. It works when you give it a static ip because there is no DHCP server and no ip gets renewed. My guess is your router can't handle all those connections and bandwidth.

If i was you, with 48 connections... i'd go ahead buy a decent router and set one of those pc's as a server using windows 2003 and that way your other computers will connect to that computer to get their IP info and it won't keep dropping. There are many advantages of windows server 2003.

Or if you really wanted to, you could set all 48 computers their own static ip. the gatway address would be your router ip and the dns ip would also be the routers ip. (This would only help if the problem was due to dhcp errors on the router. If its because the router is overloaded it will still drop connection)

To Boot Into Safe Mode:

1) Start-Run type msconfig
2) Go to Boot.ini
3) Check the /SAFEBOOT checkbox
4) Restart

Ok Ray, I've found the solution to your problem.

Your problem isn't your browser, it's the source code in the page itself. I was viewing the source on your webpage and the backround midi is set to src="/il2/sxm/midis/peanut10.mid" The way your page is setup, it looks like your url http://www.rays-sxm.net forwards to an angelfire member page. When loading your webpage's main page(http://www.rays-sxm.net) its trying to find the midi file in the directory http://www.rays-sxm.net/il2/sxm/midis/peanut10.mid This does not exist because when you use a URL forwarder, it ONLY forwards the url to one file, which in this case is your homepage. The solution to your problem is this: set the url for the source of the midi file on (http://www.angelfire.com/il2/sxm/index.html) to src="http://www.angelfire.com/il2/sxm/midis/peanut10.mid" That will fix the problem and will allow your midi file to be accessed. The reason the active x control comes up anyway is because the source code "<embed" tells internet explorer to open up an object so it can play the file.

Check the source on all your other pages that contain midis and make sure they all point to "http://www.angelfire.com/il2/sxm/midis/" instead of "/il2/sxm/midis/peanut10.mid"

let me know how it goes. ;)

If her son clicked the wrong button in disk cleanup it may have erased her backup restoration files. What type of data was missing?

Monte 39 Junior Poster

check to see if its your internet/router timing out. check all the other computers in your house. If they're doing the same thing, you know its not your computer. Then post back and we can go from there.

Oh, NVCPL is a display dll from Nvidia. Highly doubt that's the problem.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

I believe if you go into your security settings in outlook, you can change what the default settings are. Ill research more and post back later if you say it doesn't work.

Well vista was just released a month ago to the public. Microsoft had it testers use and report back with bugs and such for a couple years. On a worldwide scale, there are issues, bugs, or even features that vista will need improvement on, and the only way the operating system is going to end up being successful is if feedback is reported. I agree completely that most companies won't use vista as its OS until a service pack is released. That's just simply because they want to make sure the software is suitable for their business's needs. Vista just simply has to be broken in.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Vista is far more picky over the hardware than XP, is your RAM generic or actual makes ? What's the full spec breakdown of your PC included the specs on your RAM.

There are certain cases where things like RAM behave perfectly in XP but they are not as stable for Vista so Vista does not use them, etc.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

check your virus scanner and make sure that it's not blocking file extensions such as pdf. Also, check your security settings in OE and make sure its not blocking it either.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

If i were you i'd just go the extra mile and give Vista a nice home to live on. You really don't need to go buy a Vista preinstalled pc cause you already have half the equipment you neeed. Just go to newegg.com or whatever store you use and get a nice intel core duo and motherboard for about 500-600 have at least a gig of ram, and upgrade your harddrive. you'll have a top of the line pc that cost you maybe 100 dollars more than that cheap vista preinstalled acer computer that barely runs vista basic.

Put in your Windows XP CD, Boot it, go to Recovery, then at the prompt type help and there will be a list of options. Choose the one that writes a new master boot record, i believe its fixmbr

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Try another keyboard. Maybe it's your keyboard.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Is this though USB?

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Microsoft maybe? hmm

Monte 39 Junior Poster

what was the problem?

Monte 39 Junior Poster

My method works ^^ just tried :)

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Interesting, does it give you an error message? or does it just freeze?

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Two things. First, is it your own account password that you have forgotten? Or the Administration Password? If its just your account, then login using the Administrator account. Their will be no default Administrator password unless you set one. If your using the Windows Welcome Logon Screen, hit control-alt-delete 3 times to bring you to another login box. Then type Administrator as the user name and whatever you set as the password (if their is one)

good luck

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Na, not FTP, FXP. FXP is when you transfer files from one remote site to another remote site. Hmm ill figure it out.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

This is a problem that i have been having for a while. Whenever I want to fxp a file to a server with port 21, it simply wont work. The connection drops. I've tried many ftp clients with no prevail. Any help would be greatly appricated :)

Monte 39 Junior Poster

You will have an option in the XP setup as if you want to perform a "Quick Erase" (taking around 2 mins depending on HD) or full format which can take 15-30 mins. I suggest using the full format because it will make sure that everything is gone. Good luck mate :)

here ya go mate, read this: http://www.updatexp.com/download-ie6.html

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Well IE has grown on me. Microsoft owns me, so.. i use it. I also have firefox. I love its speed and without a doubt is a worthy Microsoft competitor

Monte 39 Junior Poster

well if your banned you should not evade :P but to change your ip it depends on your ISP. Or, you can try using a proxy. http://www.openproxies.com go to tools - options - connections - lan and use proxy server.

Hey guys, my girlfriend's mouse cursor keeps moving for no reason. She wanted me to ask you guys what you think the problem is or any suggestions would be much helpful :)

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Right click on desktop, go to properties, then go to screen saver, then uncheck password protect on return

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Wait, so you can't visit websites? do this. Right click on internet explorer, go to properties, then advanced, and then click the Restore Defaults button. If it doesn't work, reply back.

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Windows 9X/ME does not have NTFS, its Fat32, you have to upgrade to NTFS

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Wait...so he installed XP into a different folder on installation? If he upgraded, then he can remove Windows ME via Add/Remove Programs

Monte 39 Junior Poster

Start-Run-Msconfig then select what you dont want to start up ;)
