Well Its been my experience that if you have onboard video then there has to a way to disable it ,onboard or in the bios .link the web site you are searching so i can have a look i'll have a look .thanks

There has to be ,either in the bios or a jumper setting on the motherboard . do know what mother board you have

I was also going to recomend Knoppix,I used it and It was great, bootup and no special talents needed to use ,I have Cable and it picked up everything and i was on the net right away and with the Wine program,you can still use some windows programs,Your Harddrives are also accessible from the Knoppix cd,I also have install a KDC version of Linex, I don't like changing Browers so I total OS change is not for me. ,

you can remove the usb root hubs and usb univirsal adapter,and others that are there from device manager and reboot computer and windows will reinstall them

Did you remove and clean the CPU ,or just the fan .
There is the old process of elimination,removing all addin cards and booting computer and replacing one card at a time .also if you have more than one stick of ram remove one ,boot computer ,if nothing,replace and remove the other one

no,not unless you want to remove IE6 from your computer and that is not recomended .(or possiable really)because it is so deeply embeded in to Windows .
They are two different programs ,MSN Explorer and Microsoft Internet Explorer .You can uninstall MSN Explorer,not Internet Explorer SP1

They are Spyware removal programs ,everyone should be using them now with the spyware that is install on our computers from sites we surf and programs like kazaa and other shareware programs install when we put them on our computers .

I cant imagin the computer booting that far if the board was fried .try hitting the f8 key on bootup and go into safe mode .

on the download site the video drivers are listed near the top .if you are using win98 its the 3 one in the list .its a 15.2 meg file and its a zip file ,unzip and look for a setup .exe file to run the install .

Check the website i posted in post #7 and Read about svchosts ,see if you can figure out what program is releated to the Svchost causing your proplems .
also run some spyware programs to clean up your computer .

down load this program it will tell you what video chip set you have in your computer .post back here what it is ,open the program and under file there is a tool bar on that you will see 4or 5 icons one is called chipset info this is where you will see vga display type .

Nice board ,what p4 are you using ,also a new 8x video card would be money well spent .

Thays what i thought,and is why the optimizer is one of the first things i run after a fresh install of XP!

No sure about this ,i know the raid option of the mother board is optional ,but if you didn't you may have to install raid driver when installing winxp ,when winxp istall is first starting along the bottom of hte screen it says something like hit f6 to install raid drivers !!,just a thought .

In IE6 I can axcess outlook right from the top toolbar ,and if i can be serious about using firebird (i do loke the speed of firebird)i will need to be able to open mail from the top toolbar

I assume,you mean a popup window ,with a close box .

Me being a novice and not wanting to format my #1 drive , just to be safe i would un hook drive #1,set drive# 2 as master ,and using a win98 boot disk i would fdisk and remove non dos partition ,create new dos partition and reboot and format the drive .Then re set it to primary slave or secondary master and hook the #1 drive up again and bootup and it should work .
