side panell case fans are good ,when fan cooling a computer you have to be carfull not to create a small vacum in the center of the case ,most cpu are in the center ,the in and out air flow is inportant ..Big B makes reference to it in post #2

Never seen a computer with out a power on switch on the front ,might be hidden behind a little door :)
as for the powersupply it doesent have to fit the computer just plug into the motherboard .

If you are looking to take the contents of you calandat to another computer to use in its outlook you amy ne able to export in outlook calandar and asave to the jump drive .in outlook calandar you should be able to go FILE/export.I don't have outlook on my computer right now to check this fur sure ,sorry .

You have to have 2 partitions or 2 hard drives to have 2 OS on same computer .

. I replaced the agp board, still had problems. It seemed to play havoc with with several sections of the Device Manager. I suppose it could be the slot has gone bad or something in the MB.

Is the agp card compatiable with the board .like you are not trying to use a 8x card in a 2x/4x board .also there is a agp ram setting in the bios that might be set to high .

check sounds in control panel and make sure a scheme is set !:)

sound like resolution (800x600 or 1026x768) set higher than the monitor will handle .boot in safe mode(hit f8 while computer is booting ) and change it to 640x480 and reboot

I have a weird problem with my cd-drives in windows 2000 pro.
I have two cd-drives, another is Samsung dvd/cd drive, and another a Fujitsu Siemens cd-r drive.

Now, every time I try to open a cd in my computer, it says: " The disk in drive * is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?". Same thing as if you'd try to open an empty cd-drive.

Bios does recognize them, and even device manager says everything is working fine. When I put a cd in, the cd-drive loads it, but my computer doesn't show it's name or open it.
And to make it even weirder....my cd-r drive can still burn cd's O_o ...and they work fine...(on another computer of course).

They did work fine before, so I have no clue what has happened. Can't say what I have installed or done, because I haven't done anything but burning for awhile :/

*edit*: My floppy drive seems to have the same problem, or it's just broken, but it would be a too big coincidence I think. Weird things indeed.

Any help would be nice!

Go to device manager and remove the drives and reboot computer to reinstall the drivers for the cdroms

put in you winxp disk ,reboot and run the repair !!

Cannot get IE to start using desktop shortcut or by clicking on the iexplore.exe in the c:

I was able to get a IE window to open up by opening up a program in my PC and clicking on their update link. Thats the only way I can get an IE window.

An error keeps popping up when I clik on my shortcut... "IE has encountered a problem" I clik on info and it has something to do with iexpole.exe

Any suggestions??? Runnin WinXP and I already downloaded and installed all recommended updates.

Delete the desktop icon ,right click on the desktop,/properties /desktop/customized desktop,and check of to add internet explorer to the desktop .

maybe this ,in spybot go to imunize and at the bottom of the page is lock ie against user change checked off .

Putting in a good network card is a good idea !

try right clicking on the games icon and choose compatiability and choose to run in win98 mode .

I have a old HP paviliion 63XX. Its about 5 years old, 500mhz. It has no video card so I guess its on the mother board. Anyway for no reason the computer starts out fine with the windows logo looking great then when It asks to log on it switches over to a lower resolution. I try switching it to higher res but it goes back. My question is If I buy a Pci Video card will it bypass the video chip on the motherboard. Will this work. I'm planning on buying an old 64bit diamond steath card for about $10.00. Is this a good idea?

have you tried opening IE from the icon in start /programs .if not go there and right click on the icon and choose properties / shortcut ,and set it to run minimized .

do a disk clean up in accessories/system tools ,and get rid of all temp internet files and temp files ,run spybot or as-aware ,if you don't have these programs ,do a google search and download them they both have free versions.

The only fix they know, works for sure !!

you need to type, DEL with a space between DEL and C:\ . then the path and file name ,something like
Del c:\windows\desktop\getthehelloffmycomputer.off

at the a:\ prompt type -- SYS C: hit enter ,then reboot

or you could try booting into safe mode ,and deleting it that way ,hit f8 on bootup to go into safe mode .
