Have you tried Firefox? When you download something with firefox a box comes up with what you are downloading, try clicking on what you have downloaded and it should come up.
Can you still get anti-virus updates and windows updates?
Is this at random times or is it when you do something specific?
Is this a laptop?
Are you saying no matter which computer you connect the hard drives too they can't be read?
Try going into disc management and tell us what is there for the external hardrives.
I would recommend using a linux live CD the get the contents if we can't solve your problem.
have you tried one in each slot separatley?
Do the two originals still work? does the PC still boot?
Can you tell us which RAM you have now? (your old and new ones, state the clock speed and size please)
You should try the repair windows XP option first. Press the R key when Boot CD has loaded.
- Let us know how it goes
Did you locate the file or is it still missing? Have you tried the recycle bin?
Did you try entering BIOS? Try pressing F2 or delete at startup look for boot devices and make sure CD drive is at the top of the list then save and quit if changes are made. You are pressing F8 at boot up try entering BIOS it should not come up with safe mode, normal etc...
Did you try the mouse when using a live CD? Have you tried a newer or older version of Ubuntu?
Do you have a USB mouse to try?
Perhaps Ubuntu doesn't have a driver for the touch pad an older version may or maybe a new version does, can't hurt to try the live CD's.
How big a hardrive do you have? You could try creating another partiton and installing windows 7 on that. This should recognise XP and the other Win 7.
That EasyBCD did you tell it to write to MBR?
What was the spec of your previous hard drive?
Hello I wonder if anyone can Identify my problem.
I left my PC on for about 20 mins and when I came back there was a black screen with a few discoloured pixels left.
I rebooted and now nothing comes up at all. My computer starts up and there are no error beeps and sounds like it usually does except doesn't seem to load an OS(not enough Disk access). Tried to login blind and got not sound.
It's not the monitor or cable, i have checked it with my laptop.
I have tried reseating the RAM, no change. (When I removed all RAM I didn't get any beeps either don't know wheiter you should are not).
I have checked the motherboard for scorch marks and can't find any.
My PC has a graphics card and on board graphics tried both and no result.
Does anyone know what the problem is? Any help is appreciated.
System Spec:-
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-VM
CPU: AMD X2 3800+
RAM: 3GB
Graphics Card: NVidia 8600GT 1GB
Did you try this drive in another PC?
What is the USB device?
Maybe find the process/program using the drive and stop that.
Perhaps if you invested in some more RAM they would be faster. Max RAM supported is 2GB.
Your graphics card should be fast enough as long as it has a good power suppy.
You could try reducing the quality of graphics for the game. Maybe stop any programs running that aren't needed in the background.
Do you have IE? if so does it work?
To check settings in fire fox, at the top on the window click on Tools.
Scroll down and click on Options..., a new window should open.
In this new window click on Advanced at the top of the window then slightly down from there click on the Network tab. Then in the connections box click on the settings button.
A new window should open, tell us which radio button is selected and what it says.
Try the auto detect settings box.
To exit click okay if you made changes.
- Hope this helps.
You should be able too boot from the CD Drive. Is the CD drive at the top of boot priority?
There could be a bit of a conflict between the two anti-viruses slowing your system.
You may want to remove some programs from start-up. Do you have any useless or non-important programs running at start up?
Sorry no, apart from using another USB keyboard.
That sounds reasonable, I'd get a few DVD-RW and fill them with backups then when you run out of space get rid of the old backups and replace with new ones.
Do you know (X)HTML? You have to start with that. If not, try http://www.w3schools.com
I agree, learning XHTML is a start and w3schools is a good place too start. You should also use CSS for your page styling it also makes creating similar page easier.
Not a problem it doesn't fix your left CTRL key but you can use your right one for now or until you manage to fix it.
does the right ctrl not work?
is the key sticking or anything?
Has the Key dropped off?
cd-r that means rewriteable? is that better than dvds?
no no. CD-R is writable, CD-RW is rewriteable.
CD-R's are cheaper than DVD's. CD-R's can be burnt too faster as well.
A DVD holds more data though. If you site backup is less than 700MB us CD-R otherwise use a DVD-R.
FYI CD's hold approx. 700MB, DVD's hold approx. 4.7GB.
My system gets automatically on when i put the power on and there is no display in monitor I had check all the jumphers but i dont able to solve this problem. what will be the problem?
You need to start your own thread, this thread is someone else's problem.
If it were me I would create an archive of the site and burn it to CD-R and keep a copy on the PC.
Burning to a CD-R gives you a permanent backup and if you have multiple backups on a disk you can roll back to the one required, just incase the last backup had something wrong with it.
It is quite easy to erase information on a USB stick I have accidentally done it quite a few times.
you say connection drops every 3 seconds is it the same for just one PC?
I don't know too much about networking but perhaps try a few PC's, first get them talking then introduce the rest.
Perhaps a diagram of how you have the network setup will help. You can attach an image to your post.
Do you have a firewall installed? My firewall once blocked my anti virus program, try looking to see if internet or server connection is blocked/denied access.
Which anti virus/firewall are you using?
Have you though of storing them on your computer/memory stick or CD perhaps?
I know you can store up to 25GB on sky drive for free.
Does your Host not offer online backups?
Do you know if it shows up in BIOS?
Have you tried changing the data cable , perhaps it's damaged?
If you have a copy of both Pro and home can't you insert the CD and click on repair at boot up. If it is the wrong CD it should say shouldn't it?
I would suspect it to be home if it is a home user.
To access start-up items click on the windows icon, click on Run or type run in the search bar (you can also press windows key+R). Once the run box is opened type msconfig. A window should open click on the start up tab and deselect the weather program and click OK.
This won't get that weather program working though. Try uninstalling it and re downloading the installation file and reinstall the weather app.
- Let us know how it goes.
(You may have to run the installation as an administrator).
how many slots are there? ...two, four? If there are four try a different combination.
Where did you get this RAM from?
Have you tried and external monitor?
Does it happen when you are moving the screen are whilst it is up not moving? -Maybe it is a loose connection or maybe the screen is going, how old is this?
Can a 64-bit Operating System be installed on machine having a 32-bit processor??
Can you tell us what processor you have just to make sure it is 32-bit?
Do you already have a 64-bit OS or are you after buying a new OS?
Try and get a hold of a linux live CD if this works then the computer should work with a new hard drive.
Do they have graphics cards?
Have they worked before?
Have you tried entering BIOS? Checking how much RAM is there and save changes & exit.
Can you post your CSS? You may want too consider cell padding or perhaps a margin for this text.
Well give safe mode a try. If the message come up just do what you did on normal start-up.
When this pop-up comes up can you close the box using the cross?
Are you able to click on the start bar and start any programs?
If this is a legitamate problem and not a virus then you will need the repair CD.
maybe something is wrong with the hard drive.
Goto my computer right click on the hard drive icon, click on tools and click on error checking.
When I first put a cd in it will make a few noises but then not do anything at all.
Do you mean like a recovery disc? I had one of those but when I had to send my laptop away to the TechGuys they asked for it and I never got it back :-/
Your going too need that recovery disc back sometime you will want too get it back or burn a fresh copy.
There could be something up with your CD/DVD drive a bootable CD would test to see if it was still working.
The only other thing I could recommend is to remove the cables to the drive reboot, turn the PC off and reconnect ensuring cables are correctly connected. I can't think of anything else at the moment.
I think it would be possible for someone to get at your files if someone determined enough wanted too. If your PPC has security for data theft then it should make it more difficult.
Is there a particular reason for your concern?
Does this message pop up on any other user accounts or in safe mode?
What happens when you insert a CD?
Do you have any bootable CD's?
did you try clicking on the "fix it for me button" in the link you gave?
Some versions of linux can be run on a live CD. Why not burn a few distros and see which you like.
If you are learning at a university it maybe worthwhile to use the same version that they are using.
