Is therte not a list of all the drivers required on the dell website?
Do you know what graphics card you have?
I would just tell them what you told us. The screen is green when you turn it on, its not your job too diagnose what the problem is. They delivered it to you faulty either get a replacement or get your money back.
I have a mesh PC and I had a faulty DVD drive, they came out and fixed maybe they will come out and have a look at yours. - ring 'em and tell them you want it fixing or replaced.
You should not be out of pocket for the repair either.
You should get a faster connection if you swap just look out for those hidden charges though. If it works out the same price you may aswell go with the better deal.
I believe it would increase your internet speed. It may not be the full 20mbps but I would expect it to be more than 6.5mbps.
Don't forget to take into account any setup fee's or get so many months half price then pay full.
What do you use the internet for?
If you have the XP installation CD you should be able to repair it by booting off the CD and select repair. That should solve your boot problem

Hello,
Did you install the drivers for the printer or just connect it?
Have you tried Speedtest.net?
I don't think the security type would be a big influence on speed.
What speed is your router?
I think laptops may get a better reception because the aerial is bigger (usually in the laptop lid) - I could be wrong.
You could tried positioning the adapter in a different place. If I put my adapter near my PC I get a poor bit rate but next to my extension cord I get a much better bit rate and signal.
When you look at your wireless connection have a look at the bit rate as well as the signal strength. Its better to have a medium signal strength and high bit rate then an excellent signal but poor bit rate.
Can you go into BIOS and see if the CPU is over heating?
On my system I can adjust fan speed and what the CPU target temperature is (maybe try lowering it).
Are you using any other OS, I know vista and win7 you can lower the CPU utilization thus lowering the temperature emitted. -There maybe something like this in Ubuntu but I have never need to lower the CPU utilization for that.
It may not solve the problem, but it may make your computer more usable.
BTW thermal paste should help dissipate the heat even if the fan isn't working correctly or fast enough.
Okay Try this,
Click on Start -> Run or windows key+R, Then type msconfig and click on the BOOT.INI tab. Then try clicking on the check boot paths and the other install may show up.
Or you can do as this link says Here. you would add an entry looking like this multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect changing the disk too whatever the disk number is.

The speakers that you are using are they built into the monitor or are they separate?
You should have a wire coming from the back of the PC to the speakers.
Have you checked that the wire is connected to the speakers and the PC.
more info would be helpful.
Are the speakers built into the monitor? Do you have a dedicated sound card?
have you ever put the computer to sleep? if so did you notice if it were orange?
I assume this is a desktop.
have you tried keeping the power button pressed in for 5 sec then pressing the power button a couple of seconds after?
have you tried the network wizard?
Have you tried disconnecting the drive and reconnecting it?
Turn off the PC and try the above.
if it won't work perhaps it is time to invest in a new CD/DVD drive.
Overclocking can be very harmful to your system if done incorrectly.
Can you afford to replace the computer if it goes wrong? If not, don't try it.
I agree. People overclocking there systems usually want to get the most out it for gaming purposes; is this the case for you?
If it is it maybe worthwhile in investing in a better graphics card or maybe faster memory. Why not post your system specs and see if there is a safer way of improving performance.
if you decide to ignore us, increase the clock speed of the CPU gradually and not in large jumps.
BTW i assume you mean GB not MB when refering to your RAM.
it is just a Cd Rom.Kinldy let me know the idea.Any help would be
Highly appreciated.
Do you have any other CD's to try in the CD ROM drive?
If you do have other CD's try a different CD in the drive.
- Let us know what happens.
I agree It probably isn't work attempting to play. There is nothing stopping you from trying but it probably won't be playable. I don't think upgrading would help either, the cost of dated components probably mount up to a newer computer.
Did you install XP on another drive?
has this happend after the disk image was taken?
Does the invalid boot.ini show each time you start the computer?
Have you got 32-bit or 64-bit win 7?
Do you still have Vista or XP installed?
was the wireless adaptor working before with this operating system?
I think it would still work with less RAM. A better PSU may solve the problem.
If you have a graphics card like that it would be worth investing in more ram anyway. I assume you use your pc for more than word processing and web browsing.
Does the windows login screen load up fine and then you get the black screen after putting the password in?
Does the monitor turn off or just go black?
Have you any other user accounts to try?
Is the wireless adaptor built in or is it an external one?
Hello, I am new and appreciate being here:
I Purchased a brand new ATI HD4350. The machine I am putting it in will not boot when It is inserted. (running XP Pro service pack 3) The machine is a IBM Thinkcentre Model M51 #8141. I was wondering if the card is not compatible as it claims it is DDR2, yet the board memory is plain DDR.
Thank you in advance
rundavo
The memory speed is for the graphics card it doesn't matter that the RAM speed is DDR.
When you say the system won't boot up do you mean the computer turns on but won't load windows?
You did remember to switch the monitor over to the new card?
If these are fresh installs it can't hurt to try.
I think windows calls whatever drive it is installed on C but will appear as a different letter by another OS.
go ahead install the 2nd OS. I would label the hard drives as something more memorable. I have labels XP, Vista and Win_7.
You can also rename what comes up at boot selection, for example you could rename the OSes work_XP and XP to help distinguish.
Can you post you system specs? Motherboard model, CPU, RAM etc...
Have you searched for what the bleep codes mean for your motherboard?
Did the graphics card come with the computer on did you fit it yourself?
Does the usb stick work in other computers?
The cost of a new OS may only be about £100 (whatever that is in dollars).
I would suggest trying Windows 7 RC or linux to see if it is still working.
it would only be a few dollars to burn a copy of windows 7 or linux to disc.
you should be able to upgrade vista to windows 7 and keep you files. Then buy windows 7 when it is released.
Have you tried altering any startup programs?
go to start > run (windows key + R) and type msconfig.
go on the startup tab and click on disable all. Then select the programs you need for example any anti virus programs and firewall.
You may want to consider reinstalling the Operating System.
Does this cd load anything up when inserted?
what options are listed in system recovery?
Is this a recovery CD/DVD that is made when you first got the laptop?
If it is you should be able to restore the laptop from that by booting from the CD/DVD. Any files on the hard drive will be lost though.
You may want to use a linux live cd to get the data back before reformatting.
Have you a recovery CD/DVD or a recovery partition?
To reinstall you should be able to use an external cd/dvd drive. If there is a recovery partition you can install it from that.
Have you tried looking to see if the device is listed in the device manager? Is there an exclamation mark next to it?
For the price of an external drive you could probably get a wireless network adapter.
Have you tried running the Crucial System Scanner?
This should tell what type of ram you have and what you can get.
I would go for another 512MB module. It would be better to get a memory module that has the same clock speed.
You need to make sure the RAM is compatible with your system. I think your system is compatible with DDR400/333/266 RAM.
If your current memory is DDR400 (clock speed 400MHz) then get a memory module that is DDR400. Make sure both modules have the same clock speed.
- Hope this helps.
Does the camcorder show up in the device manager?
Have you more than one firewire device to try or different ports to try?
I think they have to be the same, as in speed and memory size. I think your copmuter will only be using one of the two cards.
Which is your monitor plugged into?
i have a gateway laptop that was installed windows vista business 64bit though its has no partition i have tried several partitioning tools like paragon ,partition magic etc at no luck please assist me what to do
Hello,
Have you tried clicking on start, in the search box type disk management and click on create and format hard disk partitions.
- Hope this helps.
Is this an LCD display?
If you turn the monitor off whilst the PC is on and back on after about 30 secs does it flicker?
Hello,
- Let us know the answers to these questions if you know them.
Can you use the internet on your laptop?
Can you access the router menu by putting the address (192.168.1.1) in the address bar in a web browser?
Is this Microsoft Windows system restore or is it a system restore from a system partition (system restore selected at boot up)?
You should be able to restore from a restore partition. Did you get any system restore disks?
Did you not create any of your own?
- If you can still boot up perhaps try creating some.
Is there any important data you don't want to lose?
Hello,
First thing I will ask is have you tried safe mode?
Press F8 before windows begins to load after the initial boot screen. Then see if windows will load in safe mode.
- Let us know how it goes.
HI,
I am having trouble installing Linux over Vista. I have tried Ubantu and Red Hat Linux 9. In red hat when it comes on partitioning phase it gives error message somthing like "No device found to alter partition table". I dont remember the exact message. I have four partitions on my harddisk. While installing Ubantu the setup simply crashes on partition phase. PLease help me solve this problem.
Thanks
Hello,
Are you able to use the partition manager in either of those Linux distro's?
How are your partitions laid out? e.g, 4 primary partitions or 3 primary 1 logical etc...
If you can try deleting a partiton in the partition manager (windows or linux) and retry the setup.
- Let us know how it goes.
If you go into device manager is the device listed there?
I have one HD of data with 120GB and I have another HD thats
completely clean with 20GB.
I want to merge both of them into one single Unit.
Can Windows do it? How? I want to do this the easiest way.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I'm not sure it can be done but I would say it is better to have the units separate incase one fails. I would use the 20GB HDD for files that you don't want too lose. I store videos and music on my other drive just in case.
