For what you are building, the 500w psu you have picked will do fine :). I do not think the 6770 will be up to the job though if you want decent frame rates. A 6850 or 6870 would be a better choice.

If you shut down your modem and restart it, you should get a fresh IP address. Not may people have a fixed IP.

Have you actually cleaned out the fins on the heatsink for the cpu itself? Does the pc have a discrete graphics card? if so, is that heatsink clean as well? If yes, then the heatsink may need to be re-seated with some good thermal compound. What are the running temps?

Intel have probably copied AMD, particularly with the onboard memory controller. Since C2DUO Intel have been out in front............for a price.

Not many laptops have a discrete graphics card. I would say, based on the info given, that there is a problem between the screen and the board.

You need to place the CD in the tray and then enter the bios and change the boot order to make the CD player 1st boot.

No. You can use any anti virus you want. Do not have more than one installed at any one time though or it can cause problems.

Maybe you should look at a few comparisons. I was hoping to buy one of the Bulldozer cpu's, but looking at some of the results, I will be sticking with my 1090T 6 core. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4955/the-bulldozer-review-amd-fx8150-tested/7

Sorry, but using adaware to keep your PC safe is like using a chihuahua to guard your house. Adaware is not an AV either, so will do nothing if one has a virus.

The 955 will be a sweet buy and will overclock well, so long as you keep it cool (sub 55C). Not sure that there is a mobile version of it though.

Will at least need a BIOS flash in order to recognise the cpu. Personally I would go with the 6 core as the Bulldozer reviews have not been that flash and to be honest, if one were to go with the BD, one would be better to fully upgrade.

Try also pressing the Del key if you have problems accessing the bios. All my PC's have been that way. It is probably not bios related, but once you are in, set the bios to the 'default' settings then hit the F10 key to save and exit. Try installing the …

Pull the battery from the motherboard, install the new ram, refit the battery then go into the bios and set the bios to optimum settings. Save and exit then see if it will boot. Make certain you have the power off first :).

Regardless of that, FF can not compare with Opera. I have both on my PC and the only time FF is used is when my daughter uses it. I really do not understand the attraction to FF when there is almost everything you need, built into Opera.

And where would he find the spare motherboard? You realise this is a laptop? programer. Try removing the laptop battery and then put it back in. Sometimes that can reset a problem.
