This is a very common problem with HP laptops. It's caused by poor manufacturing quality. 1 or more solder joint breaks down between the motherboard and the graphics chip. There are 2 cures available. 1, a new motherboard and 2, a reflow on the graphics chip. A new motherboard is …

You should have a look at the dell website to see if they have a driver update for your bluetooth!

My first thought while reading through was PSU. Would be worth checking it over for stability with a multimeter!

Is that driver specifically for windows 7 64bit? I suspect it's for windows 7 32bit. If there is a driver available for Vista 64bit then give thay a try!

Seeing as it's a new computer and it is giving you more than 1 problem, perhaps you should take it back to where you bought it from and complain!

Try clearing cmos by removing the CR2032 batery for a few minutes. You will need to set your bios up correctly afterwards.

You need to install Vista unless you have a legitimate key for windows 7. Microsoft don't sell windows 7 in ISO format so it's not a legal copy unless you have bought a legal key for it.

The most common cause of what you describe is a failing backlight driver board. You should be able to get and fit a replacement fairly easily! Having said that, it's not the only possible cause. If you have and know how to use a digital volt meter then you could …

The first thing to check is if the CPU fan is working correctly. Then check the thermal paste on the heatsink to make sure it hasn't dried up. Next, make absolutely sure that the heatsink is sitting absolutely flat to the CPU. Next, check any other heatsinks and fans on …

Hi all, thought I'd ask for a little help for a change. I have a tablet PC at work with a corrupted Windows XP tablet install on it. I have tried everything I can think of to recover it but nothing does the job. I have decided to reinstall it …

Rather than the hard drive, the noise is more likely to be the CPU fan. I use a Lenovo (IBM) x61 laptop which became noisy until I pulled it's fan apart and greased it up, it now runs almost silently!

Sony are rather poor at producing windows 7 drivers so you will probably just have to wait I'm afraid!

Unplug your PSU internally. Then get a bit of wire or a paperclip and short the GREEN wire to any BLACK wire on the connector that goes to the motherboard. The PSU should fire up, if it doesn't then it needs to be replaced. Gateway computers often have Bestec PSU's …

I am an IBM/Lenovo user and I agree with jak0b, getting past the bios password is very difficult indeed. I doubt a laptop that old is worth the cost!

That will be your backlight driver board! The fact that you can see something very dim tells me this. You can get a replacement easily enough from the likes of ebay. Just make sure it's for your exact model. In order to replace it you will need to take the …

All that light means is that you have 5 volst standby working, nothing more. You need to test your power supply first of all. Unplug it from everything internally. Then get a bit of wire or a bent up paperclip and short the GREEN wire to any BLACK one (with …

Try giving the chassis of the laptop a gentle twist to see if that makes any difference! I suspect you either have a ribbon cable fault (the cable that connects the screen to the rest of the lappy) or a poor solder joint in there somewhere. If it's the ribbon …

It seems to be a very common problem on Gateways and I haven't seen a fix for it as yet. Do you know how to test the power supply unit?

Have a look at the capacitors on the motherboard to see if any of them are bubbled up and/or leaking. If you find any like it, you will need to replace them!

Do you use that Norton rubbish? If so "Click Norton personal firewall click configure. On the networking tab click Trusted add the Pop3 mail server address and the SMTP server address, Click OK." (this was found elsewhere on the net via google).

What you want is a USB hub. They are available in many shops and are quite cheap. There are 2 basic types, powered, and passive. Powered ones need a power supply from the wall and can run more devices. Passive ones take their power from the computer and are easier …

The first thing you need to do is to go into your bios and see if the dvd drive is shown there. You will probably need to press either del or F2.
