I don't know if this has been posted in this thread before as 15 pages is rather a lot to wade through, but, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1299854/posts Follow the instructions carefully and your firefox will be much much quicker. I have used it on many many computers, both friends and customers ones and …

Mixing ram speeds, especially in an Asus board, is a really really bad idea indeed. Just use your new ram alone!

Try backing it all up then giving it a full format. It sounds like it's indexing service may be messed up!

If some of the outputs are only going to be used for showing video then what about a usb graphics card?!? It's a cheaper option than having 2 cards!

I would suspect damage caused by malware. What protective software have you got and have you scanned with it recently?

I have installed many hundereds of PC's and laptops and I have never once taken any notice of what order I install them in. When you say bios driver do you actually mean bios update? If so, it should only be done if you have serious bios issues because if …

You will have to buy a 32bit version and install it. You will have to replace the 64bit version with the 32bit version, you cannot combine the 2 altho you could dual boot so that you could use either of them at one given time!

What version of windows are you using and have you checked your graphics card drivers? You should also check for malware as steam users are sometimes targeted by hackers!

If it has an Nvidia graphics chipset then that's most likely what's gone wrong. It is down to poor manufacturing quality. I have persoanally repaired 9 HP laptops all with the same fault in the last 6 weeks. The Pavilion DV range seems the worst (but not the only) range …

You can try putting it into a zip seal bag then put that into your freezer for 24 hours. Professional data recovery is very expensive indeed. Freezing it may get it working for an hour or so if you are lucky!

If you have a look in your motherboard manual, it will tell you exactly what ram you can use. If you don't have your motherboard manual, you can download it from Asus as a PDF.

The 32bit version will work on sytems with 32bit and 64bit CPU's. The 64bit version will only work on a system with a 64bit CPU. Do you know what type of CPU you have?

Sounds like data has become corrupted on it. She needs to back it all up then format the external. Doing a full format rather than a quick format should cure the problem!

If you ask me, this is a much much better laptop for that sort of money - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834146916 Lenovo are better built and are more reliable than Asus.

Your ram will have a bus speed of 200mhz. You will have to replace it with higher bus speed ram to get a higher speed. DO NOT mix different speeds. Mixed speed ram can lead to system instability and can even damage the motherboard in extreme cases.
