You know, these are good questions. I don't know if I can answer any of them but accept a chance for an emotional outlet, this is therapeutic because it allows me not to stuff my rage for search engine manipulators to pile up to high. I release it slowly but steadily throughout. I do enjoy being free of any anger.

So, I have been holding myself back from blasting the Bookmarking search engine optimizers and its sister act the great News of the year story search engine optimizers. Does everything you people create need to be bookmarked or made newsworthy as SERP NEWS headlines. I'm so tired of searching for "search engine optimization service" and reading "SEO company from blah blah blah offers the first ever FREE SEO QUOTES!!! on the first page of results. Crapola, thinking themselves SEOs, just clever Internet marketers getting easy ad spaces by spamming the search engines their agendas as being news or finding ways to list their pages to be bookmarked as being of some importance and meriting something in return for creating the illusion successfully, SERP swindling ...

Have something worth bookmarking? Have something worthy as submitting as news for SERP showing? No. Not usually. You people look to make your webpages appear to be worthy of qualified visitors using search engine trickery. Looking for any good easy to get unmerited link and use the growing number of ridiculous News services for cheap, sometimes free, easy places to get your ads …

i am stuck trying to find out about the moral issues on the internet for my ict homework anyone know how to explain it??:-/

Well, there's many moral issues that surface with the advent of Internet technologies.

There's one that continually catches my attention, every day.

Although the Internet is a magnificent resource, it has brought to the forefront the extent of human greed. To the degree that people will go to satisfy their lusts for money was once incomprehensible but now has become clearly visible, openly. The Internet is a breeding ground for every conceivable evil scheme to pilfer one another from one end of the globe to the next despite any sense of ethics, moral obligations or consideration of human rights, dignity or suffering. Making money, even a penny at a time, any way possible, is the motive that powers much of what we see of the Internet today.

As I'm passionate about Internet marketing (and in particular search engine marketing), I am particularly disgusted by such activities as search engine ad clicking schemes, banner clicking networks and the growing (unchecked) trend coming out of the third world nations known as SEO outsourcing. These are very bad things for the Internet and for the world.

I searched through many sites but couldn't find any that can pay me a fair amount for each ad that i click. Most of them pay only $0.01 for each ad. It means I have to click 100 ads to earn just 1 dollar and they don't put more than 10 ads a day.
Can any1 suggest me something about this.
<snip>

That's probably the going rate for undetected click-frauds, you'll earn one dollar in ten days at that rate. Need more than that? Create many 10 more profiles and click 1000 ads in 10 days to make ten bucks!!! Now we are in serious money. Ever wonder where this money comes from?

Seems more than likely that the search engine was recalculating things and the low number was when it was still incrementing (adding up the worthwhile backlinks it offers as a sample of what it has discovered, for owner or competitor analysis).

Hi, I have two available names for my site. One is a dot com and the other is a dot me. My question is did dot me catch on? Anyone know any reason not to use dot me besides dot com is more popular and comes to most peoples minds? The .me is appropriate for the site but will that hurt the chances of people finding it. Any comments or experiences with dot me would be great.
Thanx.

Search engines usually consider a dot com TLD more legitimate than .info, .biz, .net, etc. and award some additional value to the webpages within. If I am not mistaken, the .me extension is a country specific one being often used for purposes beyond regional usage and would fall within the same "spammed out" pool of extensions originally intended to be country specific but exploited by Internet marketers globally (like the .tv, .it, .cc etc.). Having a web site hosted in a country another than where the extension derives (ie a .ca TLD hosted in India) would raise red flags for the search engines, especially if the extension is already well known to be playgrounds for spammers (or any purpose other than what the extension was originally created to identify).

how long the spider crawling on a single page content with 500 word of a web?

500 words! Man, the spider crawls through that like in a fraction of a zillionth of a second.

Hi friends,

Pleases suggest me my product pages URL not indexing on Google search page so what can i do for this trouble.

Probably the first thing you'd want to do is to run your entire site through a link checker making sure there aren't any broken links. Then after that you could offer Google a complete Google Sitemap .xml file. See what you can find out after those two steps. The other thing I suppose would be that if you are using server generated web pages you may have to examine the coding to see if there something complicating a complete crawl of the webpage; usually culprits of this nature are things like having two body tags or two html tags or even too many nested tags in the wrong place ... static pages should be W3C compliant wherever possible to begin with. But always look at the sloppy coding factors ...

Can anybody here clearly explain me about sand box?

I consider the Sandbox Effect a short period of time (2-6 months) that the search engine Google suspends a web page's actual ranking while attempting to determine the web page's legitimacy. The Sandbox Effect is often hardly noticeable in today's search engine results pages.

I saw online sites that sell marketing plans. Do you create your own or use these online marketing plans?

I know what to say...
I create my own marketing plan. I can only refer to it in SEO terms, not in social networking terms nor in link building strategizing or any other of the various Internet marketing methods (paying for search engine ads or banners, video ads, viral marketing ploys etc.).

At the root of the search engine optimization marketing plan are keywords, keyword phrases (hitherto keyphrases). I must identify specific keyphrases that I can rank highly in the search engine results pages (hitherto SERPs) and in a feasible, sustainable and client image conscious manner. Effectively deployed, this SEO marketing strategy will return a market share of the volume of targeted traffic available through the SERPs and then, if the qualified visitor is drawn to the presentation or quickly finds what they intentionally sought in the first place, that generates into the happy people telephone calls you want or the product orders coming in and out or the click-throughs or the whatever the agendas. It makes for the web site owner to be happy, they'll hire you again to do their marketing. The Internet marketer gets his keyphrase takeover plan in gear and on the right foot and then has happy sound sleep at night where he dreams of being with his honey and going fishing this summer at his secret world record sized northern pike and walleye …

Fred, I think the best place we could probably direct him to is to yahoo answers. After all, he is having problems with their game site. Yet I agree that it might also be a problem with his PC.

Ya, that may have been a good idea. Didn't think about that, stopped looking at online answers from services a while back. Just figured there was somewhere around here that may be able to assist the poster. Seems likely if the poster was in the middle of a game and keeps getting blanked out it would be from his end and not Yahoo's. I may quite likely be wrong, these things are not in my scope. Heck, I need someone to come in to set up my speakers on this computer (since my last one got hacked up pretty decisively). I find digging through pages and pages of uninformative answers is frustrating; trying different searches for the same thing ... I don't do that anymore. I suppose I could endure ten or fifteen minutes of it if I had to but would give up swiftly and do what this poster did. Try to find an expert answer or pool for an answer from someone that may have solved a similar glitch.

Hi All,

Can you Suggest the best SEO Strategy to get the traffic for a site. I have tried social networking sites but not getting more traffic. What you say?

thanks

Just to clarify, social networking can be a form of Internet marketing but isn't SEO. Search engine optimization is another form of Internet marketing whereas web pages are encouraged to highly rank in the search engine results pages for targeted sets of keyphrases (keywords and keyword phrases).

Good SEO (high rankings in the SERPs) is accomplished by effectively harnassing the on-site and/or off-site ranking factors.

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

My take on this is to maximize your keyphrase dynamicability. Pick your web site's important key word phrases and then start mixing in the variations of them in your content and optimizable web page components. Start with synonymous and antonymous keyphrases, changing verb tenses, use the acronyms, abbreviations, pluralizations, alter prefixes and suffixes, play with morphology and other linguistic techniques, ... stay focused on the primary keyphrases. Have a keyphrase takeover plan that totally circumferences your primary targets.

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

With the changing in search engine algorithms and searching techniques, SEO has also changed. For instance metatags were once considered to be the most important thing in SEO, have a very little importance now.

Depends really.

If you don't care two sweet shits about what description the search engine assigns you that it snipped out of your web page to become your search results description then no, the Description meta tag wouldn't be needed but ...

IF YOU CARED about what description the search engine alots you in your search results listing then the meta description tag becomes an invaluable asset

The meta Keywords tag is a built-n indicator. It is a search engine tag. They examine it while reviewing the source code of your web page. Does that mean anything? It could very well may. Again, it depends. If you are sticking every keyphrase under the sun in it in an effort to impress too much of nothing then it is essentailly useless but if you target use it for one or two important terms pertinent to that that page then it provides the search engine with a really good built-in indication of what you think is important.

Search engine are much better at differentiating between intelligent, important content rather than stuff thrown together in an effort to mainupulate them. Semantics and language comprehension abilities have radically evolved over the last three years. In brief, the search engines have been making huge progress with advancing use of artificial intelligence.

I'd almost think it was spam but seeing it so poorly translated from what it may be intended to mean leans me to believing that it is someone testing out their English marketing skills. The fact that it doesn't contain neither a signature nor a link to something leads me into thinking it experimental for someone and of value to them for something; testing the waters maybe.

Sure, there's short-cuts to improving "qualified" traffic but they all entail the development of search engine optimization skills. However, I'd first suggest you master the language, then learn HTML coding and finally educate yourself about the optimizable web page components (paying particular attention to how you craft content).

Now, if you don't want to do this, then keep trying the pitiful, trendy search engine manipulation techniques until you are blue in the face, then come back and read my answer again.

I disagree with the two notions that "if it ain't broken don't fix it" and about not needing search competitors.

Can SEO help me to bring more traffic for my website.

Good questions for a newbie (which obv ... ture). I feel compelled to answer this question so it's your lucky day. I hope you find your answers.

The first question has two parts:

The Best SEO Technique
Concentrate on deploying well-optimized, intelligent, uniquely important content while focusing on harnassing the power of the optimizable web page/site components (including things like webpage Titles, keyphrase emphasizing, tag attributes, the internal linking structure, logical naming conventions, <head> work, clean error free code ...).

The Easiest SEO Technique
Pay someone else to do it.

...and I won't even humour myself with the last question.

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

Manual link building

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

These types of linking strategies are for SEO weenies. It's best not to force feed backlinking production and focus on creating a high quality user experience offering potential visitors important, unique content. Forget about manipulating the off-site ranking factors, do something different than the rest, get noticed for your creation and not for your illusion of having a worthy creation.

It is always better to hang on to your own stuff, in your case, stick your articles on your blog. Forget about your link obsessions. The articles will get around on their own should they be of any value whatsoever to the Internet. That's just the nature of important content.

Hi guys,

I'm currenty creating a site right now, and I'm just a little concerned about my ASP pages. How do search engines crawl these pages? Do search engines treat these pages differently compared to html pages?

Server generated pages get crawled the same as static ones. Word of caution however, server generated pages are usually quite sloppy and can interfere with a full crawl. Things to avoid are:more than one Title, embeded tags, duplicate tags like <head> and <body>, duplicated descriptions, excesses of general coding errors.

I have a quick question. I want to start a social networking site but haven't the foggiest clue how to do it. So I want something real easy, something my grandmother could figure out.

Now, I know I'm going to need some kind of software for this and being the miserly old bastrard I am, I obviously want to put this online for free either by: Open Source, free software, third party or any other way as long as it is, for free. That's just how cheap I am. If I can get this done for free, I'm a happy hockey fan.

So, whatcha' y'all think? Anybody have a suggestion? It's almost St Patty's day and although I am not Irish I do have a little Scotch in me (that's what makes me so cheap). Anybody anybody????

Hello Friends
I just wanted to know if an SEO forum consider as a link farm.
Thanks

I suppose it would depend on what it looked like. If you had a bunch of links with little meaningful, relevant textual content I suppose it could look link farmish but if you had a variety of intelligently written evolving contributions then it would look more like a forum. Appearance is everything.

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

DaniWeb is a NoFollow forum. So I was thinking if it helps much on building back links or improving SERPs. Please share your experience;
Are you getting links indexed from here? Or it really is good for increase traffic? I do know that this forum has high PR (PR6).

I guess you are referring to signature links.

Ya, they can help with traffic a bit, it is usually qualified traffic meaning the visitor is interested in visiting rather than forced or tricked into showing up.

Ya, things get indexed pretty swiftly here at Daniweb.

No, doesn't do much to improve PR. PR hasn't much significance in the today's SERP world anyway. The only value PR has is to Internet marketers. They use PR concepts to convince vulnerable web site owners that they do something uniquely special. "Look, my web site is a PR4! See how good I am at SEO? Can't rank webpages worth a shit but can sure pump up a little green bar."

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

What can I do exactly about?

Title ?
meta Description ?
meta Keywords ?

Get keyphrases in your Title but do so in a way that compels the visitor and impresses the search engines simultaneously.

Meta Description is very important. Keep it short, complete sentences, perfect spelling and grammar and again; do this with a little bit of class not just keyword stuffing.

Meta Keyword is a very important tag. This is your opportunity to indicate to the search engine what keyphrases you think are important on that web page. Does the search engine require it, no, however, it seriously considers your offering and is immediately steered in the right direction rather than it determining for itself the value of your keyphrases. Make full use of this built in indicator.

Hi everyone,

I have been exploring the various link building systems out there. ie. LinkVana (which appears to be quite expensive).

Anyone have any experience with any of these systems ? What works and what doesn't.

This appears to be what are known as "link brokers" who use their networks of web sites to furnish one-way links to whatever source pays them. Should this in fact be a link broker then understand that this practice of link popularity boosting is highly frowned upon in the real SEO and of no real usefulness to either a search engine or an Internet visitor. The search engines squash them and when powerful link brokers get caught everything capitulates from there, although the effects on your linked-up web pages often appears to be negligible, naturally. See the illusion there?

Amongst their many claims, the one that "No risk of being discovered by search engines" is false and completely ridiculous. The search engines are quite familiar with garbage dumps and marketing trcksters, I mean the link selling strategists, link brokers sorry ... I better go away now.

canadafred 220 SEO Alumni Team Colleague Featured Poster

Ya sure, I'd love to.

This beast of yours took well over two minutes to load, that's the first real turn-off. I ain't going back there and would suspect that, in spite what your numbers may suggest, is a major deterent for repeat traffic sources.

The second thing I experienced was this incredibly busy nonsensial mass of hyperlinked group melted into textual content all over the place and in an never ending web page, full full full of these (probably important stuff to you) useless sectors of unnecessary information. How was that?

And then just the last thing I would like to say is, don't try SEO if you haven't a clue of what you are doing. You are going to have to undo much of the "SEO" that's been implemeted. Like most important things in life, try to learn a bit first before practicing it, don't look for the trendy, quick SEO tricks of the trade, learn the basics first, then, later on, if you want to get fancy, fills your boots. But things on your entrance page like ...

<META NAME="description" CONTENT="prepare interview, walkin interview, bpo jobs, freshers walkin, engineering jobs, part time jobs, jobs in india, onsite jobs">

...have got to go.
