what model of laptop are you running?

i would also like to add this ,it by my experience to be careful learning about tweaking your computer as some tweaks can cause unwanted problems for you and your OS .
this is planned to be a project for school with a group of friends, and our ""computer engineering teacher""
i think he/she should have all the answers as to what you need .
most of my teachers had answers for me/us when we asked ,whether we wanted to hear them or not .lol
nice links for sure ,having a look at pcguide it getting a little long in the tooth[old]2004 and even the update link on the left was still talking P4 cpu /motherboard
care to tell us what the ISO was suppose to be ,or where you got it .
"[DR-DOS] A:/>" and a thingy is flashing like wanting me to write something,
i suggest you go to the website where you got the iso and see how to use it .
Actually i have a collection of Windows 7 keys for various versions
don't save them to log ,because with age they become useless
yeah,
The recovery CD he has is a CD. It is therefore XP.
Also, this laptop never shipped with Vista. So he had an XP that he did whatever with, put vista on & cracked it, activation eventually spat the dummy so he tried an upgrade to win7 hoping it would work.Just an educated guess. I yet stand to be corrected on that. I might be wrong, but the OP has gone quiet, and I have this funny feeling...
Anyway, Hello, caperjack. long time, no see. I have been out and about and stuff. You might hate 20Q, but I hate the "Guess how old I am" game more. I better not get too fof topic...
now i got it , thanks for clearing that up hotmatrixx, have a nice day
your last post should have been your first post ! good luck with your project ,
I stopped doing homework in the spring of 1972 lol
OP never said anything about a FRESH install, at least never clarified whether one was performed, or if just an 'upgrade'.
That was why I recomended one earlier.
will i think/thought they did by the way this is written
quote from above/ "i use the recovery cd a few times,i think 3or 4 because i use to have some problems before and i didnt find help so i use the windows cd,the problem it came with the last time when i use the recovery cd,i just cant activate windows.. " /quote
,to me that means they used the recovers 3 or 4 time last time it would not activate ,to me that meant a fresh install of sorts ,i don't know how long they used it
un- activated before coming here for help
the same family meas the same brand name ,like brothers and sister ,not exactly the same but from the same family,
i can only assume that it will work on a new motherboard ,i don't have time right not to search for exact answer .
Hi,
Thank you for you suggestion, and helping me.
so the R530 cannot be compatible with the SSD?
More power to you always.
as long as the ssd drive fits into the harddrive compartment it will work
How can I formate my storage device using XP SP3.
plug the device into the computer .go to mycomputer and right click on the device icon and chose format
PCIe 2.0 motherboard slots are fully backward compatible with PCIe v1.x cards. PCIe 2.0 cards are also generally backward compatible with PCIe 1.x motherboards, using the available bandwidth of PCI Express 1.1. Overall, graphic cards or motherboards designed for v2.0 will work with the other being v1.1 or v1.0.
taken from this link ,this web site is usually a good source for correct info .

I haven't fix it yet, but I guess you deserve a brownie already :)
But... how do I mark it as solved??
in you other post you made it sound like the answer fix your problem ,you shouldn't have marked it solve until its actually fixed ,now other helpers will not look in to this thread
i mean that i could"nt find online help ... microsoft e-mail me,so i hope the problem can be resolved ...
if you problem is activating your copy of windows i posted info on how to call microsoft in one of my other post .also a virus can cause the activation problem , but i thought not because you said it was a fresh install that wouldn't activate .
i will repeat it here!
open the cmd prompt in start/allprograms /accessories/ and type in this without the "" "slui.exe 4" pick your country and you will get Microsofts' phone number ,call that number and they will help with activating windows
???
my "what ever" comment, means i don't know what you last comment means,[because i wait long to get some help i contact microsoft and i try to fix the problem]] as it makes absolutely no sense to me, did you call Microsoft yet
ok i searched and found this suggestion not sure it will work as mine is not broken .
go to this youtube page ,.http://www.youtube.com/user/OldSpice . or one like it ,right click on the videos
screen and choose settings ,uncheck enable hardware acceleration ,close it and go try to view a youtube video .
sounds like a great project.
for me if i needed that i would have go buy a wireless security camera .cost me money, your is almost free .good luck

Nancy

because i wait long to get some help i contact microsoft and i try to fix the problem...
what ever ?
try downloading it from here http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Flash-Player/3000-2378_4-10001055.html click on the green download button
download it to somewhere you can find it and go to and click on it to install the program ,if it doesn't download from here then its a problem with you computer
did you try calling Microsoft .
open the cmd prompt in start/allprograms /accessories/ and type in this without the "" , "slui.exe 4" pick your country and you will get Microsofts' phone number
I am experiencing the same thing. I just bought Dell InspironN4050. The first time I turned on the computer and the windows opens normally. But when I inserted my USB flash drive and try to explore the content but unfortunately it did not open. After that I decided to log off using the start menu and then it shows "logging off" all the time even I turn off and on using the switch button.
so. the post above yours has the best solution ,did you at least try that !!!!!
sorry i don't have a answer for you , im not even sure you can just add a wireless device to it ,i guess you have to try attaching the wireless device to it to find out if it recognizes it as a device .
i had a hp dv6000 laptop that did the same and it was the video chip over heating
its cut off, what its going to recognize if there is nothing on the end to see ,a computer sees a device on the end ,not the usb cable
Anyway I don't want to clear more than this ..
thank you caperjack to show my mistake(according to DaniWeb rules)
and I hope not to do such a things again...
thanks..
thank you for understanding ,happy computing
.
Currently are you using genuine WinXp sp3?
If not don't downgrade...check there are some good crack on net...you can download & install it.. than it will be ok..
it is not within the rules of Daniweb to discuses or suggest using cracked versions of any type software .ty
from g-data web site .
Operating system:
Microsoft Windows 7 (32/64bit)
Microsoft Windows Vista (32/64bit)
Microsoft Windows XP (SP2 or higher, 32bit)
it clearly says sp2 or higher
did you check with them for help getting it installed with sp3
if you are worried about security it would not be wises to go back to sp2 as it is no longer supported by Microsoft and you would no longer get security updates for winxp sp2 .
but if you want you should find it in start/control panel/ add and remove programs ,be sure to click show windows updates along the top
i think this section of daniweb would be best place to ask that question ,good luck .

which the hard disk and pressing F10
you don't need to hit f10 ,after you set the boot priority to hard drive ,just reboot and let it boot on its own ,don't hit f10,
if you had a good working computer before the format and install of win7 U ,it not likely its a harddrive problem see what happens
Wonderful attempt altogether and great discussion, as I am new to this so do not know much about it. But soon will learn and add value to this. Thanks for sharing it.
you forgot to add your spam link i think
pressing and shaking might make matters worse ,so i suggest stopping that !
if it disappears within 2 minutes then its not an issue for using the laptop ,just annoying on start up,it may be just a resolution thing on start up or it could be a early sign of the lcd getting bad
I am not able to acess my internet and i am not able to install any kind of software in my pc
do you do a lot of gaming and save the game for future use ,maybe just go into the gameand delete the saved games!!
if the live linux doesnt work have you tried safe mode ,get to save mode by hitting f8 on bootup
not 100% sure ,but im about 95% sure it not a setting that can be changed ,it just the way it has to be
except those that comes in a yellow box or red box....
i think for clarity, and newbies to computer security they should be named ,Norton and McAfee
we need the expert helpers here to check and offer you help with the virus
I checked another monitor on the same PC and had the same problems.
yes, because its likely you video card/device and not the monitor may
the @ 2 read me has all the info on how to proceed with getting help on this site, the link takes you to the "virus security" section ,that is where you would start a new thread ,and post all the logs from all the programs you are asked to run ,i have seen it take weeks to fix a really bad infected computer ,i myself usually opt for backing up files and re-installing windows ,your choice
sorry ,i meant to add that the 2.5inch
was the size of a laptop hard drive
i use one like this one ,its my choice because it works with both 2.5 and 3.5 drives .

Hi and welcome to Daniweb ,start by reading the 2 readme threads at the top of this section .
http://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/microsoft-windows/viruses-spyware-and-other-nasties/64
aver you installed the nvideo driver did you go to setting and pick a resolution supported by you monitor.
select a video resolution info .
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/videocards/ht/screenres.htm
you need to try the monitor on another computer to determine if its the monitor or the video device in the computer
Hello All,
Did anyone try this last option "hardcore - option" with success?
It looks a bit crazy, but it maybe a bit of sense... the only doubt is about the plastics, don't they burn? i mean the connectors and some other components!
I have a X205-sli 1, to repair and I am willing to try this, because the pc is lost case anyway, or atleast the 2 graphic boards.
If someone tried, can you please reply.I will give some feedback after...
Olen_PT
never tried and never would ,for same concerns you have with the plastic ribbon cable connectors and such ,also i really don't think that 200 c would be hot enough to melt the solder on the chip .
i did however make one work again by using a Butane torch on the chip ,heating it up ,just luck i think ,second time i tried it on another laptop it never did boot back up .
i think the other post just want to post that link ,as nothing he said was relevant to you question ,
i don't have an answer. but have a question .does it only do this with Skype or with all programs that are opened on the taskbar .
your welcome, good luck
yes ,it good for one year ,been there done that ,on other peoples computers not my own ,i have no need for a paid antivirus program ,find them to annoying
