You most likely have a vga port on your laptop. I suggest that you connect an external monitor to it and see if it behaves properly. Your power settings in Control Panel may need reconfiguration or your repair has simply failed.

It could be that your RAM (memory) is corrupting any streaming data. You need to run a memory diagnostic first! Go to http://www.memtest.org/ and download their utility and create a bootable media that you can run it from. Details are on their website. The motherboard's backplane has most likely become bent. It should be a simple matter to bend it back into place. Your purchase of an add-in video card is suitable, however it is not cost effective.
