check the jumper setting on the hdd, master with slave,master/slave and although it really don't matter much ensure the master is at the end of the cable
is this vista you are using. here is a easy way to chek if u can upload creat a new txt file save to desk top then go to myspace and see if u can upload that txt file.
yes u can but be prepared to have great lag time and frozen frames. reason being external increase access time and wht is the transfer rate of the hdd via usb, and i assumed connected by usb right? this will greatly reduce the game performance.....and while you are at it do u have the required video resolution for the game no built in vga on mobo will work either.

this is very simular to a recent problem i posted here. and base on the info i beleive your mobo is fried. here is how u can verify this. remove everp piece of hardware EXCEPT processor and memory. if ir come one then the board is good,,,,,,,,HOWEVER if u start to connect devices (ONE AT A TIME) and this screen goes blank tada thats the culprilt as well as the board. cannot deal with load any more.
300 is a bit high, xp sels for 90 the most full version not upgrade will be about 200. the versions i have a full sp2 corporate version multiple pc install does not even need activation.
Win me is THE worst opearting system ever created. this was a desperate try by bill to change 95. u might have to install driver for your burner for it to work correctly on me. as for the spec u can see this on the front of the drive it will tell u what type of media it can burn

your cd burner what are the spec, is it cd/rw +- or just + or - and what thype of mediat are u using, some time if u use a cd that is a minua or plus only your burner might not read it.

can u remove the battery pack, and the cmos batter for a few hours, then inset and try restarting. also connect an external monitor ans switch it the external mon, if u get pic then the mon conn to the lcd screen might be damaged.

ok now we are gettign some where. can it start in safe mode. then do a roll back from system restore. if not your only option will be to get the xp cd and do a repair or extract the file thats corrupted.
I dont even know where to start. A few weeks ago a variety of problems started after someone started fooling around with my computer. I think they were trying to make a static ip or something. I dont know if it worked.
I began having problems with my internet connection. I reset my modem and router but still had problems. I still am unable to access the Belkin page for my settings. 192.168.2.1 or 2.2 doesnt work. So if you can help wih that, I'd appreciate it.
Yesterday morning when I booted up a balloon popped up saying another network was available. I dont remember what it was, but it seemed legitimate, like Gateway Network or Microsoft Network or something. I'd never seen anything like it before. Anyway, I right clicked, but didnt select the option. I was able to work online for awhile then suddenly I lost all network connections. AOL, local, everything. I couldnt get back online for anything. Today, upon reboot I was able to get online for maybe 5 minutes. I still wasnt able to connect to Belkin, but was temporarily able to access my neighbors linksys. I can do that everytime I reboot, but I can never access my Belkin. The computer wired to the router still works.
Then in the middle of all this, I got one of those blue screens telling me I may need to turn of caching or shadowing in the BIOS. Of ocurse no one in the word …
the big myth on bottled water guy, look into this, if there are so many company bottling water from the "source" poland spring, maine, evian, fuji, do u really beleive companies are paying that great import tarrif to import water into the usa or any countrry for that matter. bottled water is tap water that goes throught a process of reverse osmosis. with all the bottled water dont you thing the "sources" would be dried up by now. here is some thing u can try. get a brita filter or any water filter for that matter. boil tap water, let cool to room temp or put in you refrigerator to cool then filter it. bam u got bottle water quality. its all a hype and a money making thing.
whats happen here, are u getting an error when u tru to boot xp, what is the error? when does the error happen, on boot up? log on screen? in safe mode only? in normal mode?

@ Hamu i agree with you, especially when u are not even given the chance to prove yourself. and take for eg u have all the knowledge and degree to boost, but a friend or relative of the ceo will get the job over you some one who cant even comprehend the field or work, it should be mandatory that school find u a job before u graduate and stop focusing on sucking u pocket dry on tuitions. books and senseless graduations dress up which u have to pay for as if the thousands of dollors u pay was not enough u have to pay to graduate, they are the same ones who tell u will need a student loan to offset expenses. u earn the degree from blood and sweat from sleepless night, stress and for u to colle`ct what u paid for and earned u have to pay again. still no job at the end of the line.

sure u can do it in msconfig, same thing as the registry, but the registry provide a more direct and comprehensive list. go through msconfig and see what else is there, be warned that some items might not be in msconfig that startup on you comp
in control panel go to network and internet>network and sharing center> under sharing and discovery ensure that the following options are turned on network discovery, file sharing and publuc folder sharing,
if u know how to go into the registry u can get rid of these messages. ther comes up because the program that controll these files are set in the registry to run each time u start the pc, did u remove any software recently,
run the hddd manufacturer cd utility on the hdd, write zero's if u have to but start there make sure that the drive is setup to hold an opearting system then run fdisk then format. am ensure the jumper match the hdd config, master, master with slave and so on.
you did say that it started a second time rihgt. trye starting in safe mode if you can, thenfollow the steps below. when u are done close the lid and see if the same thing happens. it might be the hibernation file is too large or currupted.
Go to Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, Power Options, Hibernate tab, and uncheck the Enable hibernation box. then restart the pc.
does the game still run in the background when u press CTRL+ALT+DEL. if so u might need to increase the refresh rate for the monitor. check the game requirement for the display resolution and change the refresh to match
@ mapley have you tried updating windows, then try getting the latest driver for your wireless card. PS before u update deleted the file that causing the BSOD then run the lasted software update for the card
i feel your pain i had the hardest time getting started in the it field. it's funny how every one want u to have a Bs, or Ms and yet they are not willing to hire when u graduate.....does your college have a placement center. da search for entry level it job on dice.com. if u are in NY area i can recommend a company thats employing phone tech
