I can tell you that you are lacky man that even starts in safe mode when you change some new parts especially MB your windows can't even boot in safe mode.So I'm telling you if you are having some personal files move them in other partition and install a new windows.

i second this, u are indeed luck, any h/w change of that nature does require a fresh install. but u should be able to do a new install and keep all you programs.

i am guessing the pc does not post . ......even with the momitor blank you know know if the pc POST, your key board witll flash, your floppy will make a grinding sound(if u have one). now if the hdd light stays on one of 2 things, the cable is shot to hell or the cable is inserted incorrectly, ( did u move anything) try removing the cd drive and all other ide drive and try with only the primary hddd

i use to have this prob and wht i seggested work plus i remove the profile from the registry also and i never had the problem again. ps it would not stop until i went into the registry. i am not suggesting you do this unless you know exactly what u are doing.

try to start in safe mode. check computer management and look at the droved on the pc. make sure the correct one is set to active, then check bios that you are booting from the right hdd. these things happen for no apparent reason some times.

if the pc does not post u cant run the program, open the case and look on the mobo for the name.

u also can use a simple pdf viewer like pdf exchange there is s ton on the net do a google.

this indeep a dilema, i had the same esperience, schol was using office 2003 i had 2007 at home, but i save in 2003 mode, to make sure the teach can opem my doc or xlm file because in 2007 the extentions are 4 letters. but if the student who have 2007 at work and do there home there they would be in a world of problem if they change the mode then do some work project and send to other at work they would be getting incorrect formats and data. probable be fired,,,,,,,,, i do feel your pain.

if u go into services and disable you will be boggled. too many stuff htere to deal with, its best in msconfig, staright foreward and can be easier enabled if you need to. msconfig only deals with startup programs that are install by user. services deals with every single service running on windws from it;s installed

@ gezer bob if u check the manual for the palm, there is a way to reset to factory default. you will oose all data store, there is also another way to reset the device find the reset hole them hold a pointed object while turnig on the palm.

are u running ckdsk in windows?

on maxtor hdd there is a jumper that limit the hdd space, check the jumper setting, and set it accordingly, if it's a single drive, or slave but do not use the limit jumper

how did u erase the drive, is the 31.48 the available space or the total size of the drive

i have read thru yout hijac list nothing really out of the ordinary, when did this start to happen was it after an installatin, update, uninstall, and when u say every program to be presice if u open notepad does the help file opens up too?

what is the max that the mobo will take, what type of chip, u have to know those spec befoer u can make a move. if i can get online on the pc tyr this web site

there are ways to get around it but it will require that u use another program as the default. as scru dai it don't matter what u have to open a dll file, they will still work

here is something u can try opne control panel>default programs and see if u can restore all files to defaults. or do as midi states, restoer to an earlier setting.

there is a free version, with limited features,

copy the pst file to a diff location, then delete all other files, open outlook, creat a new profile, use the pst to import you mails.

yes acronis can set up your hdd for dual boot. and it also has its own bootloader

in safe mode go to msconfig, start>run, then type msconfig. go to the startup tab and remove any items you do not need or that you can't id. try that ansd see if u are able to start in normal mode.

what have u installed recently, u might want to turn off "reboot on crash" control panel/system/advanced/system settings
and untick the auto reboot box
if this happens and u hear any sound from the hDD bet your bottom dollar it's the HDD crashing, if this happend when the computer is on doing nothing, check the CPU, ensure tgrease is goos and fan is working. when u boot up and u hear clicking sound the HDD is going, try running the HDD utility that came with the HDD, partition magic or partition commander are also good utility u can use to look ay whats going on with your HDD. but the manufactured HDD utitlity is the safest bet to start with

it will be very hard without the dvd, but there a few things you can try
down load and use vista boot pro, u can use it to edit the boot edit file, or just to remove any mention of other operating sysem from the boot order.

do u want to remove the program or just take it off the boot order

how did u move the files over, did u copy the pst file or u move over insividual messages. if it was the pst file its corrupted, remove the pst file to another directory, delete all other files, then create a new profile, use the old pst file to import your message and bam u set if u need more details check this out

what are the name of the last 3 programs you installed recently., look for a directory name prefetch in the windows\prefetch delete all the files , then chack ms config, stop services that are not needed.

the camera will not show up as a HDD it will show as other devices. as for assigning drive letter in vista is basically the same as in XP = admin tools>computer mngt>Storage>disk mangnt there you can rename, change drive letter partition drives a so on.

are u using a direct conn to the cable modem or do u use a router.

ok clean up your cache, temp files and if this does not fix the prob, find out from your ISP if ther is an outage on your node that would affest you.

PS if this only happens whe u surf maybe a bug, in your pc. do a scn now before it gets worst.

if the other pc is not able to conn then its not the dsl box. the dsl box gives one ip to the router the router give out many ip. what is the ipaddress on the one thats not able to conn, chk cable, make sure cable unplug message in not on pc, make sure the cable is good

are u able to conn with any of the pc attached to the router via the dsl

ok here is the easy spin on this, pwr down the dsl, ensure the router is pwr off too, pwr up the dsl, make the conn between dsl and router, pwr up router, run config from router cd, this will detect your configuration, ensure that it detect an ipaddress and ppoe connection. then conn PC1 & PC2 wired to router. the wireless should auto detect the wireless in range. then you can log into the router and configure it to your likeing, change ssid, encrypt to wep, that sort of stuff

if u have xp already installed on the HDD.u also need to check jumper on the HDD. to run the new installation from the cd make sure the cd is set as first boot pref in bios. and most important, is the cd a bootable cd.

you would have to have access to the router config setting to spoof the guy , set a wep key rename the SSID, this can be done from any computer in the house as long as you have the router address which can be found on the manufacturer site of in the manual that came with the router then when u have access you can block by ip, or MAC address mac addres is the best bet that rarely changes.

remove the battery and if ther are access to a jumper to reset it, leave the batter out for a day or so then install battery then boot should get cmos error, press either F1 or F@ to restore defaults

is the cd set as the first boot device, is the cd bootable.
