for an adhoc network you will not get on the internet, adhoc is just local meaning you can use it to connect to other pc that are on the same network (basically in your home........and you have an OEM utitility controlling your wireless, open it navigate in it to disable it and for it not to show up in the task bar.

here is a crapper, whenever you see the network icon in the notification area and you use it to connet that windows, wireless zero, but because the OEM utility is controlling the wirelss you will not be able to connect untill you disable it,,,,,,,,or if you know how to configure it you can use it to controll the wireless....basically WZC wireless zero configuration
is MUCH more easier to use,

ok here is the the thing, spyware/malware are very crafty one of the first place they will hide is in the system restore section. the other being window directories. before you run a full system scan alaywas update your spyware and virus definition...... now i suggest you turn off system restore, then delete all restore points. update your av and spyware programs make your doo a deep scan with each....... delete anything it find, then turn on system restore, create a restore point call it some thing like AFTER SCAN. then restart the pc. now i will take a look at the list....... and it look very good, but i beleive you have too many things running when the pc start. personally i dont trust that bit torrent, do the scan and clean as i suggest then post a new list.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

your laptop might have come with a hidden partition, but your cd can't show up as a partition it will show as a cd drive and you definately can't delete it unless you use some cd writing software and the CD would ahve to be re-writable media..

here a few suggestions, first delete all temp files and fild the log file for windows update, try this Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type %windir%\windowsupdate.log, and then click OK. you can either delete the contents of the log or delete the log itself, (deleting will redownlaod all updates.......
the next step would be to uninstall all updates, co to control panel and clcik the option to show updates and remove them. .........

Next you can try to down laod the file your self and try if it will install without using the windows update site downlaod here

Post back and let us know

I have everything working but sound, after formatting. I downloaded the Audio Realtek driver from Intel's download center, but that didn't help.

Hopefully this pic helps:

Thanks for any help.

You stated you have a realtek sound card, i suggest you go to the website for realtek and get the latest driver

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

i hope you don't have any jumpers on the drive,

Follow mecbas suggestion and ensure that the sata ports are enables. then run the disk config from the cd that came with it. format the HDD and you should be good to go. if this does not work return the HDD

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sound to me like a moboard issue.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

PLEASE DONT UPGRASDE THE BIOS, if you can't figure it out thats a bad sign........go back in the bios and disable the onboard vga slot, and enable pci slot.

Office 2007 is dinately better for Vista. However, it's a memory hog like vista, But you have the option to run Office 2003, Pretty stabe and not shuch a hog like 2007

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

down laod the driver for vista, ( make sure it's the 32 bit then down load the one for XP extract each to a fold then go to system properties right click on the audio device ( can you send a screen shot of it) choohe update drive broses to the directory for the XP virsion. if that does not work do the sdame thing for the vista

BY THE WAY WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR MOTHER BOARD IS IT MS-7046 AND IS YOUR SOUND ONBOARD OR A PCI CARD.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

yes you need to know switches and router how they function and how to secure them i suggest you do Security + ccna then cissp, reason being you want to get a firm grasp of the Cisco systems and this vast and some what complex. CISSP focus only on security if your brain can manage them all at one i know a great boot camp you can go to and get all in as little as 2 week (does require prior knowledge to be of benefit)

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

right click on the Mozilla icon click on properties ensure the target read "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" if it says this>"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" then its pointing to the wrong file a easy fix would be to click on find target change the location and change the icon if you have to

PS is you have system restore enabled when you remove the virus you might want to disable it and delete all system restore point then do a scan and clean then you can turn on system restore and create a pint immediately

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

click the drop down arrow and choose a audio device. if thats not selected the system will not where to play your sound through

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

basicall you need the proper driver for your sound card. here is a program you can use to scan the pc to tell you what driver you will need Click here down load the program scan your pc and it will tell you what you need then go find the drive online or with the cd that came with your moboard.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

check the sound properties you might have the thing on mute.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

jar are some form of java archive, like a cab file in windows, it stores files here and decompress then when the java application rur,,,,,,,,,rar are winrar files same thing as a zip file so you need winrar or the latest version of winzip to open/inflate these files. for the jar you need a java base program, java version six shoulddo the trick,,,,,,,,,,,However they might not be of much use to you if inflated

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you need to know the ip address or compuer name to remote into it, if u cant see anything on ht escreen then it;s best you connect it to another working monitor and abse on what you are saying you had a PCI card but now the connection is on an ONboard VGA port if youa re certain that the PC is one and working connect the monitor to both port and see which one give a signal to the monitor.............although you should be able to get a signal from any one as long as non were disable in the bios.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

it's a conflick between the wireless zero and the OEM utility use msconfig and disable the OEM wirelss utility from starting or open it up and llook around for any option to stop from starting with windows and not show in task bar area.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

thats just hardware detection, all hardware will show up there does not mean its working properly. try load the drive by itself ( set the jumper to master) if the pc boots and tell you cannot find ntdlr then the drive is good. did you get a cd with the drive, boot from the cd and set up the the drive. THE drive has to be formated for the operating system to see it.

I see that you have the same post and Jbennet suggest you use computer management, if the drive show up there you can format it

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

sound to me like the pc is running 2 operating system, and crashing when its supposed to load the GUI. did you format the drive before loading the new server app

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

the reason for this is that windows cannot recognized the HDD basically the file system on the HDD is corrupt and windows cannot decide what type it is,........... AGAIN are you certain that the drive is jumpered properly.

You might have to format the drive for windows to see it

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

again what file system is on the HDD you are trying to look at

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

start the pc in safe mode let us know if you can see the drive

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

disable system mechanic from starting with windows, then do an update of bot IE and system mechanic. i am almost certain that they have a fix for system mechanic on their wed site, most software get this error when you have IE7 installed.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

what file system is on the HDD and what opearting system are you running on your PC

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

can i assume thats it working now

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you need to change the frequency that the monitor is operating at. right click on the desktop and there should be an option for the setting, choose a lower refresh rate.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

use telnet O then port number or ip address then press enter

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

check the jumper setting on the drive, one should be master the other master with slave or both should be set to cable select and put the master drive at the end of the cable and the slave on the second channel

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

use either the registry or msconfig, or better yet open the OEM utility and search around for any option to disable it and not show in task bar or when windows start. Pesky little thing, but you shold also be able to remove the utility ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE CD then go into system properties and right click the wireless device then choose update driver pop the cd in and let it find the driver for the device, without installing the software.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

you can also clicl on the paragraph icons in word, believe it's the second one from the default ( at work Now so i am not using 2007) but use at home. its the same thing when you try to type a regular document.

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

one server can run many roles, so if this is the only server i would assume they would run more critical rles on it, dns, dhcp email, but this would bogged down the server, so i hope it will only have 2roles the most. i cannot give you step for step configuration ( daniweb would not be able to hold it) LOL but out of the box you can configure it straight up, for any role it's step by step really here is a link you can check out here
do some reading before you are called to set up the server

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

is this server configured as a domain and the user added to AD

itdupuis commented: thanks for posting so quickly!! +1
bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

what server version is on the box, windows 2003 enterprise, data center, windows longhorn ( i hope Not) windows 2000 advance server.....

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

how are you adding the user, through AD or just by adding the printer on the user computer. give us some more detail

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

open the network connection right click on the wireless connection. choose properties, double click on tcp/ip protocol. use automatic setting for IP and DNS...... then click ok. Now you have to ensure you are using wireless zero and that it's enabled. if you have an OEM wireless utitlity you can get the erros you are receiving if it's conflicting with windows wireless zero

bobbyraw 16 Nearly a Posting Virtuoso

ok, now when the wireless card is in the PC do you see the card in system properties. and what state is it in. Yellow ? sign, red X, yellow dot with exclamation sign!,
