It's not hard to do, but you need to create the document as an HTML page. Web browsers can't display Word Documents.
This is actually a pretty simple page, and I suspect one of your acquaintances knows enough HTML to create this page for you.

Why not just make it available as a download?

You probably need to reinstall Office.

You can do it, but I'm not sure I understand what you hope to achieve.
Are you talking about Internet Gaming?
Why not just run an Ethernet cable directly from the router to the basement computer?
Most routers have policy restrictions that might help.

Hi,

Actually you are not hijacking a thread, this thread is all about how to build a computer...all are welcome...everyone can learn from everyone here...so you can keep on...

Maydhyam

Actually, he is.
When the questions get specific, it becomes very difficult to keep track of which poster asked which question, hence the rule:"Do not piggyback threads (aka "hijack" threads) by posting your question as a reply to another question."

I've used Vista off and on since the beta, both 32 and 64 bit.
After numerous driver and hardware issues I've finally got it (64 bit Ultimate) running stably on my AMD 3200, ASUS A8V Deluxe, 2 GB RAM. NVIDIA GeForce 6200
I'm using AERO just because I can, but it doesn't turn me on.
I understand 64 bit is becoming mainstream, finally, and that's what I wanted, but it's been one Hell of a hassle getting here.

It also has a PCI Express 16 slot:

You don't need a video card, but it should be compatible with PCI Express if you get one.

On the XP machine, run the Network Wizard and enable File and Printer sharing. Select a Workgroup name that will be the same on the Vista Machine.
on the Vista machine, open the Network and Sharing Center and set up a private network with file and printer sharing.
You'll need to share the printer. In Settings/Printers and Faxes. Just right-click/Share.
You'll have to reboot for this to take effect.
The Mac should be easy-just open the Network control and enable Windows sharing. I haven't done this in a while, but it's a lot easier than Windows.

Thanks for this instruction but in line no 3. it says Insert the SATA150 TXSeries Driver Diskette in Drive A. But from where do we get this floppy drive or how do we make such floppy drive?

You're confusing things by mixing your question with another thread.
Always start your own thread no matter how similar the problems may seem, to avoid confusion.
The drivers are available from the motherboard or computer manufacturer.

I appreciate the trouble you guys are taking to reply to my posts. However, I am confusing the issue and myself by discussing both my old system and my new system. So let me try to clarify by only discussing my old system first.
1. I bought the system from a reputable computer retailer. The system came with a200gig hard drive (IDE type). (system drive)
2. I bought also from them a 400gig hard drive and requested that it be installed into my system prior to delivery. The connections on the rear of this 400gig hd had

a) Sata Data connection b) Sata power connection

c) IDE Data connection d) IDE power connection

They way they installed the 400 gig hd was this.....
Sata cable connected to the Sata Data connector on the drive and then to the motherboard.

IDE power connector to the IDE connection on the back of the drive. (They did not use the Sata power connection).

In short it was connected using A&D above. Probably because the power supply didn’t have a Sata power connector.
And now by the way, the 400gig drive has failed some twelve months later. Could it be because of the way it’s been connected?
Up until the drive failed the system had been formatted and OS reinstalled (XP) two or three times. Each time F6 was never used and yet the Sata drive was accessable. I do question though the use of the IDE power …

This from the CD for My ASUS A8V board:
"New Windows XP Installation
The following details the installation of the SATA150 TX Series drivers while installing Windows XP.
1. Start the installation:
• Floppy Install: Boot the computer with the Windows XP installation diskettes.
• CD-ROM Install: Boot from the CD-ROM. Press F6 when the message “Press F6 if you need to install third party SCSI or RAID driver” appears.
2. When the Windows XP Setup window is generated, press S to specify an Additional Device(s).
3. Insert the SATA150 TX Series driver diskette into drive A: and press Enter.
4. Choose WinXP Promise SATA150 TX Series Controller from the list that appears on screen, and then press the Enter.
5. The Windows XP Setup screen will appear again saying “Setup will load support for the following mass storage devices:” The list will include WinXP Promise FastTrak SATA150 TX Series Controller.
NOTE: If there are any additional devices to be installed, specify them now. When all devices are specified, continue to the next step.
6. From the Windows XP Setup screen, press the Enter. Setup will now load all device files and then continue the Windows XP installation.
The numbers may be slightly different, but the procedure is the same.
My board doesn't recognize SATA II, so I had to install the limiting jumper-I'm not sure about yours.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Read the manual so you understand what's happening.. This is standard.
Yes. you'll be asked for disks. I have this board, and it might work better if the mobo disk is in the drive when you install the drivers from the floppy.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Try plugging the keyboard in after you boot.
Try unplug-replug at the logon screen.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Try switching it to the other IDE channel or a new ribbon cable.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

I don't think so.
You could install a dual boot Linux distro, but I think that's the only way.
What's the program?

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

You have to install the SATA drivers, and this is covered in the manual.
Look for "Press F6 to load drivers" line in the XP install sequence. The drivers are on your mobo install CD or at the ASUS site.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

Try the XP install disk, just to see if it recognizes the Hard Drive. If so, re-install.
If not, your HD is likely dead and needs to be replaced. It's possible the IDE connection is loose, but not likely.

That's complete nonsense.
.Org. net and .edu are readily recognized by most people, and would, of course, be inappropriate for commercial businesses.
The search engines are the key to the whole thing, and we'll all manage somehow.
I doubt anyone using .ford or .coke would make any inroads into either.

hughv 104 Veteran Poster

What .com naming scheme?
Do you mean the .com,.edu,.org., .net, etc naming scheme?
If I were Coke or Ford, I wouldn't worry a whole lot about ford.sdf or coke.xxx.
Web sites still need content and relevance and that won't change.
If an off-the-wall domain hosts a good site, it will be found by the search engines, and that's all to the good.
Relax and enjoy the improvement.

yaeh thats another way of doing it registry repair would have done the same job though. neverthe less a Registry repair is a simple software tool (theres hundreds of them) that will scan your registry with a simple click.

There's a school of thought (And I belong to it) that states, unequivocally, that there are no good registry repair programs.
They do virtually no good, and cause tremendous damage.
YMMV.
