RAM is the most important and so is graphics card I play BF2 on all medium settings at 1024x768 on 1gb ram, 3ghz cpu, 256m GFX card

do a gogle for crucial ram (i think its uk only but it has a wizardm you tell it your pc model and it tells you whether you need matching sticks or not and how many slots you have and whats the max ram you can have)

for £90 or so get the upgrade version of xp home and it will keep your files this works on 98se and i think 98 as well

i play bf2 alot, get enough RAM so you never need swap again (over 1 gb) and get a 512mb gfx card and make sure you have a 3ghz or over cpu and a fast gigabit NIC

i got a dell laptop and use dell laptops at school, perfect for buisness stuff (like ibm but cheaper) but suck at games etc..... im not worried about batteries its no new thing my thinkpad nearly caught fire many a time and ive had it since 1998

ive never had a problem with the ads. there relevant and there not the flyout or timed types that drive you crazy (i think there worth more so thanks for not putting these on dani) Never had lag here and ive got dial up on a 20mhz at the minute …

it means your gfx card and/or cpu is overheating. Did you use thermal paste, heatsinks and fans and attatch them correctly? buy a new gfx card fan and you should be ok

under disk management there is a way to do it - i think you right click and theres some options. I think you need to make it active or something first through it or fdisk maybe

oem is cheap for that very reason it installs on one system configuration only. This is the same with store baught pcs - the preintsalled system wont work if you modify them alot. xp home oem is £60 here and the full is like £100 so yeah, its worth it

Joeprogrammer: how much ram do u have and do u have an ATI or nvidia gfx card? These cards dont like linux that much and less than 384m RAM wont run ubuntu. I have an 8mb gfx card, 384mb ram and 600mhz CPU and it runs fine
